Bhool Chuk Maaf Box Office Day 8: Rajkummar-Wamiqa's Film Inches Towards Rs 50 Crore

Last Updated: Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi's Bhool Chuk Maaf is moving towards Rs 50 crore in its second week. Despite slow box office performance, the lead cast received praise for their roles. Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's Bhool Chuk Maaf released in theatres after multiple delays last week. The film opened to Rs 7 crore on May 23; however, it saw a sharp fall in numbers after Day 3. It is now steadily aiming to cross Rs 50 crore in India in its second week of theatrical run. Bhool Chuk Maaf completed a week's run in the theatres by earning Rs 44.1 crore. As per a Sacnilk report, Rajkummar and Wamiqa's film minted Rs 3.15 crore on Day 8, taking the total tally to Rs 47.25 crore. The film saw an overall 10.90% Hindi occupancy on May 30. The confirmed figures are yet to arrive. Though the film's box office performance were expected to be much better, the lead cast received praise for their on-screen presence. News18 rated the film with 3 out of 5 stars. 'The concept is fairly new for Bollywood, with straightforward storytelling, though certain characters could use more arch and layers that could have unfolded over the course of the film. Nonetheless, Karan Sharma deserves credit for his debut effort and we can say, 'Karan, Bhool Chuk Maaf".While Rao excels in these roles, it's also time to see him in a new light and a fresh avatar. His portrayal of small-town heroes is commendable, but his talent extends beyond this niche. And we can't wait to see him in other projects. Gabbi, on the other hand, fits naturally into the role of Titli, delivering her lines with precision and showcasing excellent comic timing. It's likely she'll continue to shine in rom-coms in the future," read a part of our review. Talking about the film, Rajkummar previously told News18, 'The way Karan has written the entire story, with this time loop, the comedy, the characters' arcs, and in the end, a very beautiful social commentary that we are creating. So it just came together really nicely for me." Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Maddock Films, the movie tells the story of Ranjan (Rajkummar), a young man who falls for Titli (Wamiqa), a woman from Banaras. To marry her, he struggles to secure a government job. However, after breaking a vow made to Lord Shiva, he finds himself trapped by fate until he can correct his mistake. Apart from RajKummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, the film also features celebs like Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav and Jay Thakkar in pivotal roles. First Published:

Jason Schwartzman Recalls Working With ‘Real Legend' Irrfan: ‘It's So Sad...'

Last Updated: Jason Schwartzman gets emotional talking about his The Darjeeling Limited co-star Irrfan. He further recalls catching a show of Quantum Of Solace at a theatre in India. Jason Schwartzman's association with India dates back to the mid-2000s. A large portion of Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited were shot in Rajasthan's Jodhpur and Udaipur. The film starring Jason, Owen Wilson and Adrian Brody also had prominent Indian influences. For instance, most of the album had film score music composed by late auteur Satyajit Ray. Wes, in fact, had said that it was the legend's works like Charulata, among others, that made him want to come to India. Interestingly, The Darjeeling Limited also had Irrfan in a cameo appearance. Speaking to News18 exclusively, Jason says he vividly and fondly remembers Irrfan. Jason, in fact, gets emotional as he talks about the late actor, grieving his loss even today. 'I don't watch a lot of [Indian] movies. I won't say that I'm totally well-versed and aware [with Indian actors]. In The Darjeeling Limited, I got to work with a real legend. It's so sad that he passed away. Just to see the way he was… never mind! If I talk about him, I'll get too sad," he tells us. The other thing he remembers from his India trip is the love Indians hold in their heart for movies. During the shoot, Jason along with the team of The Darjeeling Limited went to catch a show of Quantum Of Solace on the big screen. 'There's so much love for movies and cinema in India. One of the best experiences that I've had in my life was going to watch a new James Bond film [in India] when it had come out. The whole group went to watch it. It was like heaven! I saw a bunch of non-James Bond films as well," Jason recalls. Jason is now gearing up for the release of HBO's Mountainhead created by Jesse Armstrong of Succession fame. Talking about it, he says, 'In my opinion, there are definitely parts that are physical and funny and bonkers that I didn't see in Succession. I always use this analogy about a band. If you like a band or a musician and they release something new and you listen to it, you know that it's their style and only they could've written it and yet, there's a new quality." The Asteroid City and The Grand Budapest Hotel actor continues, 'Maybe they used a new instrument or they worked with a new producer or they've a new guitar player. And this new flavour adds so much to the shelf of what they do. Mountainhead is clearly a Jesse Armstrong piece in style but it's also him with all of us." Mountainhead also stars Steve Carell, Cory Michael Smith and Ramy Youssef. First Published: May 31, 2025, 05:05 IST

Steve Carell Says Mountainhead Is ‘Succession-ish': ‘It's Darker And Chilling'

Last Updated: Steve Carell reacts to the internet comparing Mountainhead to popular TV series, Succession, and expresses worry over living in a high-tech world where AI rules the roost. Following Succession, which ended two years ago, creator Jesse Armstrong returns with Mountainhead, set to premiere on HBO on May 31. While Jesse once said he wasn't sure if he wanted to make a follow-up to his iconic series, his upcoming outing is drawing attention for its Succession-style exploration of male ambition, power, wealth, and greed. Mountainhead is set in a world dominated by AI, tech bros, and Meta-style giants, who also hold the power to trigger eco-political instability. Speaking exclusively to News18, Steve Carell, who plays one of the protagonists in Mountainhead, responds to comparisons between the show and Succession. He says the Hiam Abbass, Nicholas Braun, and Brian Cox-starring series was 'dark," but that Mountainhead is 'darker" and 'crazier." 'I think it's Succession-ish in the sense that it's created by Jesse Armstrong. But it's different. It's different in terms of its tone," The Office star tells us. Steve actually prefers to compare Mountainhead to Stanley Kubrick's 1964 Cold War satire Dr. Strangelove, which also tackled themes of power and ambition. 'I loved Succession and that's the reason I signed on to this. I was and am a huge fan of Jesse's. But tonally, they're a little bit different. To me, Mountainhead feels like a modern-day Doctor Strangelove, and that's one of my favourite films of all time. The darkness and the tether Mountainhead has to reality in this moment is chilling," he states. The trailer touches upon the far-reaching consequences of AI and deepfakes, evoking growing AI-related anxieties. One scene portrays a violence-engulfed Asia following a deepfake outbreak that further distorts the perception of reality. 'To a degree, it's terrifying. The fact that this technology not only exists but is further along than most of us understand and that the timeline between where we are and what's depicted in the film might not be that far is terrifying," says a concerned Steve. Mountainhead is already receiving rave reviews for its satirical depiction of a tech-ruled, high-stakes world. Elaborating on the film's core themes, Steve remarks, 'That's why there's a bone-chilling essence to it. This is potentially a real issue we'll face as a society going forward. I loved the way Jesse crafted this film. It's incredibly frightening, but there's also some kind of a palette cleanse with very, very funny moments. I think he has it both ways."
