Ex-Palace co-owner Textor ‘definitely interested' in buying Wednesday
The Sheffield Star has reported that Textor told journalist Alan Myers he wanted to buy 'a traditional English club' but has not yet made any approach to embattled Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Textor said: 'It's true that I am looking for a traditional English club to buy, or with which I can partner… I just have not spoken with anybody at Sheffield Wednesday yet and I am monitoring the situation, hoping to better understand it.
'I'm definitely interested, It's a lot to solve in a short amount of time with regards to taking advantage of the transfer window but it's definitely a club and community I would like to help.'
Thai businessman Chansiri has come under increasing pressure to sell the club, which he bought for a reported £37.5million from Milan Mandaric in 2015.
He recently confirmed he had rejected one consortium's £40m bid, while talks with various other interested parties have stalled.
Wednesday have lurched from one crisis to another in recent seasons and are currently under three English Football League embargoes for various financial breaches.

Wages were not paid on time for the third-successive month in July and players refused to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley last Saturday.
That heightened concern within the EFL that the club would not be able to fulfil Sunday's opening Sky Bet Championship fixture at Leicester.
Under EFL rules, the delayed payments allowed key players Josh Windass and Michael Smith to walk away from their contracts for free to join Wrexham and Preston respectively.
Amid the summer chaos, former manager Danny Rohl initially failed to return for pre-season training before eventually departing by mutual agreement and being replaced by his assistant Henrik Pedersen.
Captain Barry Bannan, who signed a new deal with the Owls at the weekend, has since said he did not think the players would boycott Sunday's game, but it has been reported the players had considered it.
The Owls have sold out their allocation for the trip to the King Power Stadium, where Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust have planned a large-scale protest.
The Trust has called on fans to delay entry to their seats until five minutes after kick-off, while a large banner will be displayed in 'a visibly empty away end'.
Textor sold his stake in Palace as they bid to overturn UEFA's decision to demote them from the Europa League to the Conference League under its multi-club ownership rules.
He added: 'I often cite (Wednesday) as an example of what's wrong with football today, the lack of parity, because of the influence of money and I wish there was a system where the Sheffield Wednesdays of the world could be champions again.'

Devenny has completed a remarkable rise from the depths of Scottish football to the very pinnacle of the English game – and been poached by Northern Ireland in the process. The 21-year-old had a spell at Broomhill in the Lowland League when part of the Rugby Park ranks and then joined Airdrie in League One before being spotted by Palace's eagle-eyed Scottish scouts. The £150,000 shock move down south led to him impressing with the Under-23s before breaking into the first team – where he made 23 appearances last term on his way to picking up a historic FA Cup winner's medal. Devenny was at it again on Sunday, sticking up his hand to take the crucial fifth spot kick. And he didn't disappoint as he found the net to spark wild celebrations. Devenny had nerves of steel – and he revealed his grit was forged in the lower leagues in Scotland. The youngster's only other spot kick in his pro career came in Airdrie's 6-5 shootout win against Hamilton in 2023 to escape the third tier and claim a place in the Championship. Devenny said: 'I've taken one professional penalty, which was in the play-off final for Airdrie three years ago. 'It wasn't quite this, there were a few thousand there. But it's the same thing at the end of the day, taking a penalty. Did I score that one? Of course!' Devenny has always believed he could crack the big time – and had no doubts stepping up in front of 82,000 fans at Wembley. He said: 'I was confident and I believe in myself. I put my name down before. I didn't have to take a penalty, but I wanted to. 'I wanted to be the fifth one, I wanted to be the one that scored and win it. "He (manager Oliver Glasner) was asking who wanted to take a penalty and I said: 'I will take one' 'I was quite happy that it was in front of the Liverpool fans, you are going to get the abuse and the noise – but it is just about staying in the zone. 'Thankfully I scored, the emotions were great, I didn't know how to celebrate, it was almost too much to take in. It's a great feeling. 'I'm playing the sport I love for a living. These are the moments you want to be part of. 'Anyone would say yeah to have the chance to take the winning penalty in the Community Shield final. I was lucky enough to do it.' Devenny rammed home from the spot – and plunged another dagger in the hearts of the Tartan Army. The midfielder was whipped away by the Northern Irish from right under his horn nation's noses before he even got to Palace. Devenny came through the SFA performance school system but the summons came from over the water after an instant impact with Airdrie. Former St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright – who was part of the Northern Ireland youth set up – had been tracking the kid even longer after learning about his Belfast born granny. Scotland missed the boat and Palace stepped in soon after – with Devenny making his senior debut in the Nations League days in the same week he became the youngster scorer for the Eagles in the top flight with his strike against Aston Villa. The midfielder's career has started to soar and admitted he has no regrets at flying over the Irish Sea. Devenny said: 'Northern Ireland showed trust in me. It was an easy enough decision for me although I am Scottish – you can hear it in my voice – I have really enjoyed my time with Northern Ireland. They showed that trust.'

T20 Blast to lose two matches per team in 2026 in latest domestic cricket reshuffle
The men's T20 Vitality Blast will be reduced from 14 to 12 group-stage games from 2026 to streamline the competition and ease the workload on players in the latest reshuffle of English domestic cricket. The reduction in the number of games will allow the competition to be played in a block, with Finals Day held before the Hundred starts in August, rather than going into hibernation during the summer holidays before stumbling back to life in September. The hope is that this will enable counties to retain overseas players for the entire competition period, play games on more sellable days of the week and give players more rest between matches. It will also greatly reduce the number of hated back-to-back fixtures. The 18 first-class counties voted through the change in line with the recommendations of the county-led men's Domestic Playing programme review and in harmony with the wishes of the players' union, the Professional Cricketers' Association. The counties will be divided into three regional groups of six – with counties playing each other home and away, plus one home game and one away game against a county outside their group – giving each county an opportunity to play every other on a rolling basis. Attendance figures for the Blast have fallen sharply since a peak of 950,000 tickets sold in 2019, knocked first by Covid and then by the introduction of the Hundred in 2021. The review's steering group, made up of six county chief executives, plus ECB and PCA representatives, believes that rejigging the fixtures alone will not be enough to reinvigorate the Blast and more innovative moves – such as the introduction of a central investment fund – will be needed. Where there has previously been widespread county opposition to any reduction in the number of lucrative Blast games, the Hundred windfall – non-Hundred-host counties are due to receive just over £24m, host counties £18m – has given the counties more wriggle room. There is not yet any agreement on the future of the County Championship, but the mood music suggests against any drastic change, despite the PCA's plea that a reduction from 14 to 12 games is 'the only reasonable option'. A decision will be made by the counties before the Championship resumes for three final rounds in September. The number of games in the top tier of the Women's Blast competition will also fall from 14 to 12, as Yorkshire move up to Tier One, with each county playing six home and six away games. The Tier Two teams will come together into one group, playing each other home and away.

Jefte 'in talks' over Rangers transfer exit as asking price for Brazilian full back revealed
The 21-year-old only arrived at Ibrox from Fluminense 12 months ago Brazilian club Palmeiras have opened talks with Rangers over a potential deal for Jefte - according to reports. The wing-back has played in three of Gers competitive matches so far this season and has made back to back starts against Dundee in the Premiership and Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League. But Brazilian transfer guru Andre Hernan claims that talks are ongoing to bring the 21-year-old back to his homeland. He claims that Palmeiras chiefs are determined to land the Jefte, who was signed for Gers from Fluminense by Phillippe Clement last summer after catching the eye in a loan spell in Cyprus with APOEL. Hernan adds that landing Jefte could cost the Brazilian club as much as €6million (£5.1million), with the player still under contract at Ibrox until June 2028. Jefte made 55 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last season, scoring once. Fellow left back Ridvan Yilmaz has also been heavily linked with an exit this summer with Besiktas said to be keen on re-signing the Turkey international. Gers boss Russell Martin recently challenged the defender to up his levels in order to hold down the left back spot in his new-look team. He said: "Jefte has a lot of potential and some really good attributes. "But he knows what we think on where we need him to improve and really help us win games."
