Water supply to 1,200 properties affected by storm

Storms have affected water supplies to 1,200 properties in West Sussex, according to South East Water. The company said emergency repairs were needed at one of its treatment works, leaving people with low pressure or interrupted supplies. Jim MacIntyre, incident manager for South East Water, apologised to customers in the Cuckfield area. He said: "Storms affected one of our treatment works late [on Saturday] night, but I am pleased to say that our team of expert technicians has now completed the necessary repairs." He said reservoir storage was recovering and, once levels were back up, water would be pumped into the network to fully restore supply overnight. "We understand that supply interruptions are frustrating and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding," Mr MacIntyre added. Customers were told not to worry if water looked brown in colour once the supply returned. "This happens when small particles of iron within the mains are disturbed," South East Water said. "Your water may also appear cloudy or white. "If you fill a glass of water and it clears from the bottom upwards then this means your water is just a little more aerated than usual. "Simply run the water from your cold kitchen tap until the water is clear." Follow BBC Sussex on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram. Storms move through southern Wisconsin Sunday afternoon before more rain later in the week

Widespread rain showers, and possibly some stronger storms, will move through southern Wisconsin Sunday afternoon before more chances for precipitation later in the week. The line of storms is expected to reach the Madison area between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and move into Milwaukee between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The storms should wrap up by 4 p.m., though scattered rain could develop and continue into the evening hours, National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Wagner said. "We have a cold front that's pushing through across Wisconsin," Wagner said. "We're getting these showers right along that boundary." A few spots could see stronger storms, with the main concerns being lightning, gusty winds and hail up to a half inch in diameter. The rest of the week has several chances for rain and thunderstorms, including another round of showers Monday afternoon in the Milwaukee area. "Overall, (we're) not expecting too much in the way of a severe threat," Wagner said. "Still can't rule out an isolated stronger storm or two." Tuesday and Wednesday should stay dry and sunny, with a high reaching 84 degrees on Wednesday — by far the warmest day of the week and about 8 degrees above the normal high for June 11. Possible showers and thunderstorms return Wednesday night and continue through Saturday, with about a 50% chance of precipitation each day. It's a too far out to tell if there's any severe potential, Wagner said. "We're kind of in our typical summertime pattern," Wagner said. Better weather, better Nelly: Korda shoots up board at ShopRite LPGA Classic with a 66

Better weather, better Nelly: Korda shoots up board at ShopRite LPGA Classic with a 66 Before we overanalyze the difference between Nelly Korda's game during Friday's opening round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer and where her game was in the second round, let's consider all the variables. Korda had four birdies and four bogeys en route to an even-par 71 on Friday, and followed with a sparkling 66 on Saturday. But when asked what was better, the world's best player had a pretty easy answer. "The weather was better," Korda said. "Wasn't as windy. We were playing in pretty gusty conditions yesterday and with the greens being kind of smaller already, it's tough to kind of judge your starting target with everything. Just makes it a little bit more difficult." "When the wind is down, you can be a little bit more aggressive." Korda was just that, posting three birdies on both the front and back to go with a single bogey on the par-4 12th hole at Seaview's Bay Course in Galloway, New Jersey. At 5 under for the three-day event, she's six strokes behind leader Ilhee Lee, but trending in the right direction. And after not taking part in this event for a few years, Korda is enjoying the crowds that come with the New York City-area event. "It's nice to see everyone come out and support. It's my favorite of part of what I do is kind of inspiring the next generation, seeing all the little girls and boys come out and support, not just me, but all of us out here," she said. "Definitely seen a trend in a really great direction even just with the fans that have been coming out. "It's great to see and great to play in front of as well."
