Oasis pay tribute to Diogo Jota during 'Live Forever' in first concert in 16 years
As the band finished their performance of "Live Forever," projectors behind the stage displayed an image of Jota from behind in his No. 20 Liverpool jersey. That drew a loud ovation from the sold-out crowd inside Principality Stadium.
Oasis frontmen, Liam and Noel Gallagher, are noted fans of Manchester City, Liverpool's Premier League rivals.

Tributes continue as Jota, Silva are laid to rest
The investigation into what caused the crash that killed Jota, 28, and Silva, 25, remains on-going. The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed that the car they were in went off the road near Zamora, Spain. The Lamborghini was found in flames and firefighters were called in to prevent the flames from spreading.
Investigators are unsure who was driving the car, and are looking into whether a blown tire led to the crash, which occurred shortly after midnight local time.

The brothers' bodies were returned to Portugal on Thursday and a wake was held in Gondomar on Friday. Members of the football world, including many current and former teammates were in attendance during Saturday's funeral.
Tributes from around the world continued for the brothers in the days after the crash. Portugal teammates João Cancelo and Rúben Neves were in Orlando for the FIFA Club World Cup and were emotional when a moment of silence took place before their match with Al-Hilal against Fluminense on Friday.
At Wimbledon, Portuguese tennis players Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral wore black ribbons during their individual matches on Friday. The All-England Club has a strict all-white dress code for players, but Borges and Cabral were given special permission to wear the ribbons.

Queen Letizia of Spain Embraces Tailored Confidence in Boss for Royal Engagement
Queen Letizia of Spain put a summery spin on her power suiting style with a linen look courtesy of Hugo Boss on Friday in Madrid. The Spanish royal styled breezy attire with appropriate, streamlined elements for her royal engagement with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. Queen Letizia wore the Jopeta relaxed-fit jacket in linen blend twill in a shade of coral pink, which she coordinated with the Tefika tapered-fit trousers in linen-blend twill. The single-breasted blazer features side hip pockets and an angular lapel with long sleeves. Her trousers also included a tapered tailoring element, with ease of movement and softness for the summertime temperatures. Beneath the blazer of her power suit, Queen Letizia wore a white shirt with a rounded, scoop neckline. Accessories to Queen Letizia's look included a pair of gold hoop earrings courtesy of Nydia Jewelry. She also carried a pleated leather clutch by Adolfo Dominguez. Power suiting moments are a consistent element of Queen Letizia's style. The Spanish royal, whose tenure as queen consort to King Felipe VI began in June 2014, often styles suits for daytime occasions. It's a trend many of Europe's royal women gravitate toward, including Kate Middleton, who's styled suits by Roland Mouret and Burberry, among other designers. Power suiting and tailored looks for women are a trend that's also gone beyond the scope of royalty. WWD's Hikmat Mohammed reported on the rise of women's tailoring in August 2024, citing the emphasis on changing cultural dynamics. 'This renewed focus on women's tailoring aligns with broader cultural shifts toward sustainability, individuality and the rejection of fast fashion,' said Hannah Bond, the womenswear representative for 203-year-old London-based bespoke tailor Norton & Sons'. 'As more women ascend to leadership roles and seek professional attire that embodies confidence and style, the demand for high-quality, tailor-made clothing has grown.' Liverpool players pay emotional tribute to Diogo Jota as fans left in tears
Liverpool have paid a touching tribute to Diogo Jota at their first time back on the field since his tragic death. Supporters had been asked to be in their seats by 2.45pm, but the travelling Reds filled the Bill Shankly Kop at Deepdale long before. And 10 minutes before the pre-planned tributes were officially set to get underway, they made sure to kick things off themselves with a rendition of the Portuguese's chant. 'He's a lad from Portugal, better than Figo, don't you know? Oh, his name is Diogo!' READ MORE: Small plane crashes at UK airport with 'huge fireball' seen after take off READ MORE: ''It's very, very sad what's happened, my heart goes out to Blackpool... it's a real shame' Jota's chant was always going to be ringing in ears at Deepdale. That rendition might have been the first from the entire stand, but it was not the last, writes the ECHO. Never miss a story with the MEN's daily Catch Up newsletter - get it in your inbox by signing up here Singing on loop, Liverpool's travelling support started chanting in honour of Jota again before the official tributes at 2.50pm. Claudia Rose Maguire – wife of former Preston player Sean - kicked things off with a rendition of Can't Help Falling In Love, briefly stopping the Jota chants in the process. The Liverpool supporters would join in with the line itself, 'can't help falling in love with you,' as the emotions took hold at Deepdale. The Jota chants then briefly resumed before Maguire started singing a hugely emotional rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone. Supporters were left shedding tears during the club's anthem as an emotional Preston captain Ben Whiteman then walked out with a wreath in honour of Jota, and his brother, Andre Silva, walked the length of the Deepdale pitch to lay it in front of the away supporters. The sight of that alone was greeted with thunderous applause, never mind the completion of the gesture as Whiteman bowed his head to the wreath before rejoining his team-mates at the other end coming out the Deepdale tunnel. Further applause followed once Maguire had finished the song, before Jota's chant again took over as the players walked out. With both sides then taking part in a minute's silence, Liverpool players couldn't hide their emotions, along with head coach Arne Slot, as the Reds and Preston paid tribute to the Portuguese brothers. The ECHO was in attendance at Deepdale on what was always going to be a highly emotional occasion. And it's fair to say there were goosebumps during the aforementioned tributes as the Reds were joined by the Lilywhites in honouring one of their own. There were dozens of banners in the away end in honour of the Portuguese, while Jota's chant would continue to be sung. Forever Liverpool's number 20, after the Reds announced their decision to retire his shirt number on Friday, he will never be forgotten. This was a fitting and moving first public way to honour Jota and Silva. But it will not be the last.

Oasis post heartwarming picture of Noel and Liam Gallagher from Heaton Park
Laughing together, moments before they are about to make history, Noel, Liam and Bonehead walked up to the stage. In a single picture, it's clear to see that Oasis are back. The last two nights has seen the iconic Manchester lads take to Heaton Park for their homecoming. After more than 15 years away, countless social media spats and persistent pleas from fans to reform, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher reunited on stage in Manchester to the delight and awe of their loyal fanbase. READ MORE: Oasis fans call front standing at Heaton Park 'mental' as rules explained READ MORE: I watched Oasis in Manchester and Cardiff and saw 6 big changes and subtle differences Sharing a post on Instagram, a picture of Noel Gallagher, brother Liam and guitarist Bonehead sharing a special moment before walking out to greet 80,000 fans on Oasis' second night at Heaton Park. Stay connected with our City Life newsletter here One user wrote: "That second pic is warming the hearts of millions of people". Another wrote: "Pic 2 is a nation pleaser." This summer, Liam, Noel and Bonehead, together with Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Joey Waronker, will play 19 UK and Ireland dates in cities including Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin before heading out on a string of international dates later this year. Oasis split in August 2009, due to the long-standing feud between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher. The final straw was a backstage fight in Paris before a performance at the Rock en Sein, where Noel claimed Liam wielded a guitar "like an axe". Noel subsequently quit the band, stating he could no longer work with Liam. Prior to their opening shows in Cardiff at the start of July 2025, the last time Oasis played together was at V Festival in August 2009. The 19-song setlist included hits like Rock 'n' Roll Star, Cigarettes & Alcohol and Wonderwall, and they concluded their last show with I Am The Walrus. Oasis formed in Manchester in 1991, going on to become one of the defining bands of the Britpop era and one of the biggest and most influential bands in the world with seven albums across a two decade period. Its constant members, the brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, are well known for their stage presence and songwriting skills respectively, but their tempestuous relationship which has resulted in bust ups and name calling over the years has been prime tabloid fodder. After the group disbanded for good in 2009, the Gallagher brothers each formed their own bands, Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
