Blackpink makes history as first K-pop group to top Spotify's global weekly chart twice
SEOUL: Blackpink has made K-pop history once again, becoming the first K-pop group to top Spotify's Global Weekly Top Songs chart twice, with their latest single "Jump" reinforcing the quartet's status as a global pop powerhouse.
According to YG Entertainment on Saturday, 'Jump' reached No. 1 on the global weekly chart dated Thursday (July 17), following their previous chart-topper 'Shut Down' from their 2022 studio album 'Born Pink.' Blackpink now holds the record for both the first and the most No. 1 entries on the chart by any K-pop group.
The song's streaming performance was equally notable.
'Jump' garnered 44,759,923 streams in just one week — the biggest debut for any track released in 2025 so far.
A week earlier, the group set a new milestone by becoming the K-pop act with the most No. 1 songs on the chart, holding the top position for six consecutive days.
Blackpink's success is not limited to Spotify.
On the UK Official Singles Chart released Friday, 'Jump' debuted at No. 18 — the group's highest ranking to date and their ninth overall appearance on the chart.
The song's music video, released on July 11, also made a powerful impact online. It was the most-viewed YouTube video worldwide within 24 hours of release and has topped YouTube's Global Daily Top Music Videos chart for seven consecutive days.
Meanwhile, Blackpink is currently on their 'Blackpink World Tour,' which spans 16 cities and 31 shows.
After opening in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, and performing in Los Angeles, the group is set to take the stage in stadiums across Chicago, Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, London, Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Jakarta, Bulacan, Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong. - The Korea Herald/ANN

(Video) 'Who Is Who?': PSY Shares The Stage With 'Twin' Comedian Lee Soo Ji
It's not a rare occurrence to have spotted your doppleganger, and trust us, you won't get sucked into an abyssal void when you do meet them. But what happens when your doppleganger is one of Korea's biggest entertainers? Recently, PSY shared a series of videos with his 'twin', comedian Lee Soo Ji (이수지), during his '2025 Summer Swag' festival. His most recent post shows the unmistakable duo dancing in matching outfits and hairstyles with the caption, 'Which is me?'. The feature came about after fans started pointing out the uncanny semblance of the two sometime last year. This year, PSY invited the 40-year-old comedian to take part in a special guest appearance for his '2025 Summer Swag' festival. The two also shot the opening sequence of the festival, known to have featured famous actors in the past. The resemblance broke the internet, with netizens pouring in surprised comments at how similar the two of them looked. After the interaction, Lee Soo Ji appeared on JTBC's 'Let's Eat Dinner Together' on 25th July 2025, where she talked about her experience filming the opening intro with PSY. Soo Ji states, 'I was filming a music video and was watching the monitor. I thought I was watching myself until I realised I was looking at PSY'. Host and actress Kim Hee Sun (김희선) also asked her if she had to put on any special makeup to look like PSY, to which she replied, 'I didn't have to do anything. I just needed to tie my hair back'. The iconic duo is set to reunite in PSY's '2025 Summer Swag' finale on 25th August 2025. Maybe PSY should invite little PSY from his 'Gangnam Style' MV for his next feature. (Video) Netizens Slam ALLDAY PROJECT's Tarzzan For Allegedly Saying The N-Word
Since his debut, ALLDAY PROJECT's Tarzzan (타잔) has come under continuous fire for his looks, which many say are inspired by black culture. Opting for braids and grills, netizens argue that his look edges towards cultural appropriation, for how he brings his persona and now he might just be under more heat from the community itself. Recently, a video of ALLDAY PROJECT's Tarzzan emerged after netizens speculated he was saying the N-word during a guest appearance. The video showcases him in a car as he raps to 'LIKE WEEZY' by Playboy Carti. The video, which has since been taken down on YouTube, shows the 22-year-old idol rapping to the first verse of the song, which originally reads, 'poppin' that boy like, pop'. Netizens have since pointed out that Tarzzan had changed the first 'boy' to the n-word, sparking major criticism for cultural appropriation yet again. Twitter user @/mesrevaries comments, 'Everything about that Tarzzan guy should have gotten him cancelled even before his debut', 'He has not issued a single apology or acknowledgement of his actions'. Netizens also called out that this isn't his only case of cultural appropriation, as his wardrobe and style have also contributed to the issue. However, a handful of netizens have come out to defend the idol, with Twitter user @/PE0NYTAE commenting, 'He messed up the lyrics 'popping that boy I'm like a pac' so it sounds like 'poyilillapac'. He basically mumbled the lyrics'. As of writing, neither ALLDAY PROJECT, THEBLACKLABEL, nor Tarzzan himself has yet to issue an explanation or apology for the matter.
