Brit DJ, 24, left in coma with bleed on brain in Zante after horror accident
A young DJ on an "amazing" job in Zante is now fighting for his life after a horrific quad big accident. Kai Roberts, from Pembrokeshire in Wales, was in the Greek party hotspot after being offered the opportunity to support the likes of Tom Zanetti at a club.
But on Sunday (June 29), tragedy struck when the quad bike he was riding with a friend slammed into a wall. His friend escaped with minor injuries but doctors discovered a bleed on Kai's brain when he was rushed to hospital and he was placed in an induced coma.
His devastated girlfriend, Kya Gillane-Heywood, who had been by his side in Greece, has now spoken of her shock. Speaking to the Mirror from the holiday hotspot, she said: 'It is horrible. It is weird because we are all still in shock so it doesn't feel real but at the same time it is just crazy because it is so real if that makes any sense? I don't know how to describe it.'
Kai works at a dairy factory back home in Pembrokeshire, Wales, while working part-time as a DJ at weekends. He was loving life this summer after being given the "amazing opportunity" to take a DJ residence at Ikon club in Zante for the summer.
Explaining what happened, Kya said: 'It was Sunday and it happened around 5pm. They were out on the quads and obviously then they had the accident.
'One of the girls is out here with me, she found out and I didn't have my phone with me at the time. She came and found me and told me so I rang the other boy he was with to see what was going on.
'At that point they didn't think it was as serious. It turned out when he got to the medical centre, they transferred him straight to the hospital and they did a CT scan and he had a bleed on the brain.'
Kai, who was due to return today (July 1) having been out in Greece since June 1, was then placed in an induced coma so he could be flown to mainland Greece. He is now in intensive care with a team of neurosurgeons.
The last update Kya heard was that Kai remained in a coma and had not gotten any better or worse. But with no improvements being made to his condition, his family members, some of whom have flown to Greece to be by his side, are anxiously waiting for more positive news.
His girlfriend has started a fundraiser, which has already raised over £5,000, and she told us why funds were vital. She said: 'Kai has a lot of friends everywhere because he is an amazing person and everyone loves him.
'We are not sure if the insurance will cover him and that is not what we have been sorting at the minute so the cost to his family coming out to be with him.
'Potentially medical costs because when he does recover, which hopefully he will, he will not be able to work. So it will support him and his family.'
A station manager at Pure West Radio, where Kai hosts a house music show, has also spoken about the accident. Toby Ellis said: 'It's been an incredibly difficult 24 hours for all of us at Pure West Radio as we come to terms with the news about one of the PWR Dance Family DJs, Kai Roberts, who has suffered a serious head injury following a quad bike accident in Zante yesterday.'
And speaking about a fundraising event at different clubs on Saturday July 26, he added: 'This is the first time all of these nightclubs have been on the same bill together.

Eight-year-old girl 'sacrificed' with eyes gouged out for pregnant woman
WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: The eight-year-old girl was abducted and murdered by four people who believed the 'sacrifice' would help a pregnant woman give birth A young girl of eight was horrifically murdered and had her eyes gouged out in a chilling "sacrifice" believed to aid a pregnant woman's childbirth. The mutilated body of the little girl was discovered on Monday, August 9, leading to the swift arrest of four suspects thought to be involved in her kidnap and murder by a special investigation team. One suspect, named as Dilip Kumar, is believed to have sought the advice of Pervez Alam, who professes to be a "sorcerer", after he and his wife conceived following several years of unsuccessful pregnancies. Alam allegedly advised the couple that to prevent a miscarriage, the expectant mother should wear an amulet sanctified with the blood and eyes of a virgin girl. Alongside two men, Tanveer Alam and an individual known only as Dasarath, they kidnapped the innocent girl from a small village in the Munger district of Bihar, India. The eight year old was returning home alone after delivering lunch to her father, a local fisherman at work, reports the Mirror. The child was then taken to the men's chicken farm in Padham village, where it's alleged rituals were performed on her before she was brutally killed and her eyes removed. These were then crafted into a necklace and given to the expectant woman. As reported by the Times of India, police have classified the case as a murder and potential rape following the discovery of specific injuries on the girl. Police Superintendent J. J. Reddy said: "Dilip's wife had conceived after many unsuccessful years of pregnancy. Hence, he acted on the suggestion of the Tantrik from neighbouring Khagaria district, which led to the gruesome killing of the minor girl. "The police cracked the case based on evidence. Instructions have been issued to submit the charge sheet in the case at the earliest." Local law enforcement are confident that, given the evidence they've gathered at the scene, the suspects will face a speedy trial in the near future. This news emerges as an American mother of two allegedly attempted to 'sacrifice her son' in a bid to kill her two young children. Ashley Parmeley, 36, from Festus, Missouri, was initially charged with second-degree murder after she walked into the Festus Police Department on 28 May last year, confessing to police that she had killed both her children earlier that day. Parmeley first attempted to kill her 2 year old son, Isaac, in St Francois County, Missouri and then shot her nine year old daughter. She later reportedly realised her son Isaac was still alive and drove north to the Timber Creek Resort, where she is alleged to have drowned him in a water fountain. Parmeley is reported to have told investigators that she planned to "sacrifice" Isaac before she killed both of the children, although the statement did not elaborate on what exactly Parmeley meant by sacrificing her child.

The ancient dangers of ‘proscription'
'Proscription' appears to be the current word of the month. But what does it mean? The Latin scribo means 'I write' and generates a root in script-. Since the Latin prefix pro carried the idea of 'bringing something into the open', the noun proscriptio meant 'a written notice announcing a sale'. In the 1st century BC, a culture of corruption, bribery and political violence in a fight for power led by wealthy dynasts with private armies at their back resulted in civil wars and the complete collapse of Rome's traditional institutions. One feature of this collapse was to be particularly significant. In 88 bc the current strong man Lucius Cornelius Sulla decided to call any Roman who opposed him a hostis (cf. 'hostile'), a term up till then applied solely to foreigners or external enemies. Such a one would be stripped of his citizenship rights and could therefore be killed without trial. That was disastrous enough, but in 83 BC Sulla escalated the anarchy by turning the proscriptio into a list put up in the forum condemning to death his personal enemies, with rewards for those who killed or assisted in killing them, and penalties for those who resisted them. Thousands were named – all aristocrats – including about a third of the Senate. It was also announced that their property was to be confiscated and sold at auction (this was applied even to the sons and grandsons of the proscribed) – all proceeds to Sulla. His daughter Cornelia bought a villa for 300,000ss and promptly sold it for more than two million. All this had a dramatic effect on the configuration of the Roman elite. Many indeed claimed it was their property that had killed them – 'their great house, their gardens, their warm baths'. When the quietly inoffensive Quintus Aurelius saw his name on the list, he lamented that 'he was being prosecuted by his estate in Alba'. Sulla's personal epitaph, put up in Latin on the Campus Martius, survives only in a paraphrased version composed in Greek: 'No friend outdid him in doing good, no enemy in doing evil.' Readers can decide for themselves to whom, past or present, this moving eulogy should be applied.

Troubled son of Michelin star chef Marco Pierre White steals £1,500 worth of Jellycat toys
Marco Pierre White Jr has been involved in a spate of burglaries and a decade of trouble. The troubled son of Michelin star chef Marco Pierre White has admitted to smashing up an antique shop after stealing Jellycat toys worth £1,500. Marco Pierre White Jr has been involved in a spate of burglaries and a decade of trouble. As reported by the Mirror, the former reality TV has now held his hands up to the raid in Westminster, London, on June 19. The 30-year-old has struggled with drug addiction - and the latest charge comes after he pleaded guilty to burgling a tattoo shop in Somerset last year. It has been claimed White Jr caused over £40,000 worth of damage to the tattoo shop earlier this summer, an amount he disputes. In court, prosecutor Ravinder Johal said that he destroyed four mounted crystals at the shop. White Jr burgled a deli in Kensington just weeks before, stealing a laptop, iPod, and a till. He smashed his way into a house in Chelsea day later, causing £7,000 of damage to the front door of the property. And he stole £1,500 worth of Jellycat plush toys after breaking into a shop in Barnes, south west London, last month on July 21. He appeared at Isleworth Crown Court, via video link, from HMP Wandsworth today. He admitted four counts of burglary as well as one count of criminal damage. The former reality TV star previously pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court. He entered those pleas again today. Graeme Logan, defending, said: "Marco disputes the £43,000 figure relating to criminal damage. The figure appears to be an amalgamation for property stolen and damage to the property. That figure is disputed. I ask for seven days to submit that plea. With the allegation of robbery on May 25, which Mr White denies, an alternative plea of theft will be offered." Judge Edward Connell said: "There will be a hearing for that robbery charge at Isleworth Crown Court on September 2 this year. If the Crown does not accept it, a trial will be set for March 16 next year. I am going to adjourn your case for two weeks. You have pled guilty to serious offences both in the magistrates' court and today, and at some point you will have to be sentenced for that." The former Celebrity Big Brother star had only been released from prison two months before burglary, and will be sentenced on 29 November after pleading guilty to one count of burglary. His downfall began in 2016, just days after he was voted out of the Celebrity Big Brother house following shocking behaviour with his housemates, which prompted complaints from viewers and a formal warning. In one incident, he asked Laura Carter to 'choke him' as she straddled him on the sofa, and was reprimanded when she later complained to producers about his 'wandering hands'. Days after being the first celebrity to be booted off the show, Marco Jr appeared in court after being stopped by police driving under the influence of cocaine. In January 2019, he was convicted and fined after unleashing a shocking tirade at police officers as they arrested him for being drunk and disorderly in a train station. Seven months later, he was taken to a police station 'kicking and screaming' after smashing windows during a furious row with his chef dad Marco Sr, and in 2022, he was jailed for 18 months after being convicted of 14 offences including racially aggravated abuse, heroin possession and carrying a knife. In May last year, he was arrested after burgling an upscale deli in Bath, and was captured on CCTV smashing the window with a champagne bottle. He stole £250 from the cafe, which was featured on the Netflix show Bridgerton, and was identified by police after his trousers fell down during his escape, revealing his distinctive tattoos on his legs and rear end. The owner of the cafe, Jon Ison, claimed this was the second time Marco Jr had stolen from him, and told The Sun that he also stole money from the charity box that was on the counter next to the till. 'He probably thought he was in the clear but when he crawled back through the window he got his tracksuit caught on the frame and accidentally mooned his bare backside right at our CCTV cameras,' he said. 'The hilarious thing about this burglary is that we only knew it was him because his trousers got caught around his ankles and we could see his tattoos on his bum cheeks,' Jon added. His legal woes didn't end there, as in August, he was sentenced to eight weeks in jail for stealing socks from a supermarket near his dad's four-star hotel The Rudloe near Bath. Marco Jr also burgled The Crown Inn in the picturesque city, and stole £2,000 worth of cigarettes.
