Lynnwood police investigate attempted abduction on public trail

Lynnwood police have opened an assault case after a man allegedly grabbed a boy's wrist on a public trail.
The incident happened as three boys were riding their bikes behind the Lynnwood Golf Course on Monday.
LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Lynnwood police are searching for a suspect in an attempted abduction that happened on a public trail on Monday.
What we know
According to officers, three boys were riding their bikes behind the Lynnwood Golf Course around 4:30 p.m. when a man reached out and grabbed one of the boys by the wrist.
The boy then reportedly pulled his hand away and rode off. The man didn't try to pull the child off his bike, nor did he speak to them during the encounter, police said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 45-50 years old, last seen wearing a black puffy jacket, black jeans and a sweatshirt. He allegedly walked in the same direction as the juveniles as they rode away, near 73rd Avenue West and 202nd Street Southwest.
Extra patrols were deployed in the area near College Place Elementary and Middle School following the incident.
Lynnwood police are investigating this as an assault case. The public is reminded to be vigilant, and to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

Shreveport wanted suspect assaults male in convenience store
DISCLAIMER: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Authorities are searching for a white male involved in an assault at a convenience store located in the 1400 block of Hollywood Avenue in Shreveport. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office reported that a white male attacked a Hispanic male at a local convenience store. Have you seen them? Texas children that have been missing, unidentified for over 45 years
TYLER, Texas (KETK)– According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NMEC), 15 Texas children are still missing or are unidentified between the years 1958 to 1979. These missing children haven't been seen or heard from for over 45 years, meaning many of them would be elderly if found in 2025. LIST: 20 Tyler cold homicide cases police are still trying to solve KETK news has compiled a list of unsolved missing person cases across Texas that authorities still need to solve to bring closure to their families. Missing since: Sept. 6, 1958 in Goliad Contact: Goliad County Sherriff's Office at 361-645-3541 Age now: Myrisha, 70 and A.J., 67 Myrisha went missing at 3-years-old while A.J. went missing at 1-years-old. A.J.'s thumbs are clubbed at the ends and he has a birthmark on his upper eyelid and below his lower lip. According to the nonprofit Doe Network, the children's father A.J. Campbell picked them up at their mother's home in Goliad on Sept. 6, 1958. Their father was later found dead by suicide in a car north of Austin and the night before he had called a minister claiming he killed and buried the children. The nonprofit said he also left behind a suicide note to his wife that said he had buried the children and he would join them soon. Missing since: Sept. 6, 1970 in Grand Prairie Contact: Grand Prairie Police Department at 972-237-8790 Age now: 70 Brewer was 15-years-old when she went missing and she has a scar on the underside of her left arm, the side of chest and her torso. According to The Doe Network, it was believed Brewer ran off with a boyfriend. Date found: Aug. 9, 1973 in Houston Estimated age: 15 to 18-years-old Contact: Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences at 713-796-6858 The remains of an unidentified teen boy were found in Houston on Aug. 9, 1973 and based on the condition of his remains, he was likely dead for 12 months prior to the recovery. According to NCMEC, John Houston Doe is the last known unidentified victim of Dean Arnold Corll (the candy man), who abducted and murdered at least 29 young men in the Houston area between 1970 and 1973. See you in about a week. The car is in Sear's upper lot. Love Rachel.' 'The letter was written by a right-handed person while Trlica's was left-handed, handwriting experts are uncertain who wrote the letter; their tests were inconclusive,' The Doe Network said. 'Trlica's own name was also misspelled. While initially the letter was thought to have been mailed from Eliasville in Young County, the U.S. Postal Service has determined that it was mailed in Fort Worth, Texas. Foul play is possible and the case is still actively investigated.' Marcus Rodriguez's girlfriend speaks out three years after his disappearance from Tyler Moseley has a small scar under her left eye, a scar in the middle of her forehead and a scar on her calf. Trlica has a chipped upper front tooth and a small scar on her chin. Wilson has a scar on her thigh. Missing since: July 12, 1977 in San Benito Contact: San Benito Police Department at 956-361-3880 Age now: 52 According to The Doe Network, Montelongo went outside to play on July 12 and hasn't been seen since. His mom reported him missing to police that afternoon. 'Investigators and emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to search the area,' the nonprofit said. 'Moments later a San Benito resident reported that he had seen the small boy walking down Alamo Street, however, nothing was found after officers combed the area. Neighbors were interviewed and leads were followed, but no information revealed Montelongo's whereabouts.' The nonprofit explained that police learned that Montelongo liked to play near a drainage ditch close to his house and at the time he went missing, the water level at the ditch was high raising the possibility that the current swept him away. 'Another possibility is that he wandered away and someone picked him up,' the nonprofit said. According to NCMEC, she has a burn scar on her left leg, a tattoo on her left hand between her thumb and first finger of 'AH', a cross tattoo on her right hand and a birthmark on her upper right leg. Moreno might also go by her middle name Felecita. Missing since: Oct. 10, 1979 in Big Spring Age now: 65 Borden called her family in California some time after she was last seen by her family in Big Spring on October 10 and was sent a plane ticket but never picked it up. According to Doe Network, she was reported missing by her sister and an unknown friend said she was in Amarillo working as a waitress, but gave no further details. Borden has a scar on her left hand and was known to hitchhike. Kidnapping hoaxer Sherri Papini fighting eviction from home owned by her ex-boyfriend
Shasta County's Sherri Papini, widely known as a notorious kidnapping hoaxer, is being evicted from her home in Shingletown by an ex-boyfriend. Papini claims she made an agreement to purchase property on Woodridge Drive in Shingletown, but since she ended her relationship with Shawn Hibdon of Orland, that deal has fallen through and he wants her out of the house, according to court documents that name Papini and Hibdon. Hibdon sent Papini a letter on Jan. 5 notifying her she had 30 days to move off the premises, but Papini continues to fight the eviction, and claims Hibdon has harassed and threatened her. Papini gained worldwide attention in 2016 when she went missing for 22 days after she was abducted while out on a jog near her home just north of Redding. She was found along a remote road in Yolo County on Thanksgiving Day, bruised and branded. Her story unraveled in March 2022, when the FBI arrested Papini and she admitted to faking her kidnapping and inflicting the injuries to herself. She later admitted to being voluntarily in Costa Mesa, California, with an ex-boyfriend the entire time. In a new docuseries, Papini continues to claim she was abducted in 2016, but now she says she was held against her will by the former boyfriend. She now says in the documentary the narrative that she was kidnapped Nov. 2, 2016 by two Hispanic women is a lie manufactured by the media. Her claims in the documentary differ sharply from the tearful statements she made in court during her sentencing in September 2022 on charges of mail fraud and lying to the FBI. "I am guilty of lying, I am guilty of dishonor. I trust in this court ... and I trust in you," Papini said to the judge. "What was done cannot be undone. I am choosing to humbly accept all responsibility." During the court proceeding, Judge William Shubb called Papini a "skillful liar and a manipulator." 'If she had not been caught, she'd still be living the lie," Shubb said. "She'd still be telling everybody how she was kidnapped and she'd still be taking the money that people were contributing to," he said. Papini pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 months in prison. She also agreed to pay $309,686.33 in restitution. The total included $30,694.15 to the California Victim Compensation Board; $127,783.50 to the Social Security Administration for benefits paid to her; $148,866.23 to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office for the cost of investigating the case; and $2,558.35 to the FBI. In addition to her financial obligations related to her criminal conviction, Papini is fighting eviction from the house she said she has lived in since January 2023. In a declaration filed in the eviction case, Papini says Hibdon is using the eviction as an opportunity to publicly shame her. "The plaintiff (Hibdon) has made threats both implied and explicit ― that unless I purchase the home under specific, unfavorable terms, I will be evicted, publicly humiliated or face further harm to my personal financial well-being," she wrote in the declaration. Neither Papini, Hibdon or their attorneys responded to messages left with them asking for comment. It isn't clear if Papini is still living at the Shingletown home, but Hibdon's lawyer indicated in court papers that fair rent on the property was $115 a day, or about $3,450 a month. Before she pleaded guilty to the federal charges, her ex-husband's mother loaned Papini $50,000 to help pay for a criminal defense attorney. The loan was supposed to be repaid, but Kathleen Papini of Redding filed a lawsuit in Shasta County Superior Court in September 2024, claiming Sherri Papini has not lived up to the terms of the loan. A default judgment for $53,701 was filed against Sherri Papini on May 2. It isn't clear whether Kathleen Papini has collected any of that money. After she pleaded guilty to federal charges, Sherri Papini's husband, Keith Papini, filed for divorce from his wife and was granted custody of their two children. Sherri Papini is also due in court this week as she seeks a temporary restraining order against a woman who claims on a GoFundMe account that her husband left her for Sherri Papini. The woman, Katherine Parrick, said she was left homeless after her husband left her. As of Monday, Parrick had raised $1,315 toward a goal of $3,500, according to her GoFundMe account.
