Charlie Morton whiffs 10 as Orioles shut out Angels
June 14 - Charlie Morton struck out 10 in five innings and the Baltimore Orioles withstood the visiting Los Angeles Angels and two lengthy weather delays to win 2-0 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series.
Ryan O'Hearn and Ramon Laureano homered for the Orioles, who are 2-2 on their six-game homestand.
Morton (3-7) was sharp from the get-go, but he didn't return following a rain delay in the bottom of the fifth. He allowed five hits and issued one walk, becoming the first pitcher in Orioles history to produce two games with 10 or more strikeouts in five or fewer innings.
Yennier Cano, Gregory Soto, Bryan Baker and Felix Bautista each worked an inning from the bullpen in the combined eight-hitter -- all singles. Bautista picked up his 13th save, striking out two.
The game marked the major league debut for Angels second baseman Christian Moore, who went 0-for-3 with one strikeout from the No. 9 spot in the batting order. A year ago, Moore was playing in the College World Series and helping Tennessee win a national championship. He was the No. 8 overall selection in last summer's draft.
Joe Adell and Luis Rengifo each had two hits for the Angels.
Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz (3-8) also didn't return following the fifth-inning stoppage. Two of the four hits he surrendered in 4 1/3 innings went for solo home runs.
The game began after a 70-minute delay. The game's first two batters reached base before Morton struck out the next three, including Mike Trout.
O'Hearn's 10th homer of the season led off the second. He added a double in the eighth.
Laureano's eighth homer opened the fifth. With one out and one on, the game entered a rain delay that lasted slightly more than an hour.
The Orioles loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth and didn't convert.

'We've agreed collectively that we're going to do a two-year extension for 2026 and 2027,' she said on a panel including high-profile Vegas GP stakeholders from various hotel chains in the city. 'We want to make sure that we're continuing to evolve what we're doing. But the intent is a much longer-term arrangement. As we all know, the race has had its challenges, but we're coming out the other side. So we want to make sure that it continues to work for both sides. 'So collectively, we sat down and agreed that was the best approach. We're very much planning longer-term, but that's kind of where we're at right now.' While two years is the formal arrangement, all members of the panel were keen to stress that Vegas is seen as a long-term destination for F1. Steve Hill - Chief Executive Officer and President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority - joked that the race would be around 'for as long as I am... and I don't just mean in this job'. The Vegas race creates 4,500 jobs each year and has turned a quiet weekend in November into one of the city's most lucrative. Initial complaints over the time of the race - with lights out at 10pm local time - have also been answered, with officials moving the start back two hours to 8pm.

Georgia flips 4-star CB Caden Harris from Vanderbilt
June 14 - Four-star cornerback Caden Harris flipped his commitment from home-state Vanderbilt to Georgia on Saturday. Harris, who plays at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tenn., is ranked as the No. 11 cornerback and No. 85 prospect overall in the 2026 class by the 247Sports composite. He announced his Georgia commitment with a short video posted to social media site X that included this note: "Recruitment shut down!!" Harris committed to Vanderbilt in April but took an official visit to Georgia on June 6 and had four others scheduled with Southeastern Conference teams. "I felt real strong about Georgia coming in," Harris told DawgNation. "We'd be in contact for a while, and they had just been hard on me ever since. We had the OV planned. I knew for sure I had to come down and take it. I was coming into it strong, and I left out of it even stronger." Harris' commitment is the fifth this month for Georgia, which stands at No. 4 in the 247Sports class rankings. The Bulldogs trail Southern California, Ohio State and Notre Dame, still early in the 2026 recruitment cycle. Chelsea have jetted out to the United States getting ready to play in the inaugural Club World Cup and Enzo Maresca's men are eager to capture the trophy that offers a game-changing prize fund of £100m Chelsea are hoping the Club World Cup will provide a £100m ticket to glory. The Blues go into the 32 team tournament in the United States having won the trophy in its previous format back in 2022. That was under former owner Roman Abramovich when the club enjoyed a glorious time of major trophies and big stars. Chelsea 's current joint owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have gone in a different direction with young players to build slowly but with strong foundations. They have tried to recruit Europe's best young talent and also the most skilful players from around the world to signal long-term success. But the prize money on offer in the Club World Cup this summer - £97m for the winners in a total pool of £775m - would be a game-changer for a team like Chelsea. That has meant they have left Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix at home while Wesley Fofana will also remain at Stamford Bridge to carry on his rehabilitation from injury.
