James Gunn's Superman, starring David Corenswet, debuts today. The film reveals shocking details about Superman's parents and features a surprise appearance by Supergirl.
Superman, James Gunn 's ambitious project, featuring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, opened in the theatres today, July 11. The film is the first movie in the DC Universe and the second reboot in the Superman film series. Besides Corenswet, the superhero flick also features Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult in crucial roles. The storyline centres around Superman, who has been actively watching over Metropolis for three years. He is trying to strike the right balance between being a reporter and a hero while fighting crime. For fans who have watched Superman and are struggling to decipher the ending and post-credits, here's a detailed explanation of what happened.
In Superman, Nicholas Hoult's character, Lex Luthor, comes up with shocking details about Superman's Kryptonian parents, which he was surprisingly unaware of. Luthor reveals that Superman's parents wanted him to rule Earth without any mercy. He then uses this information to turn the public against Superman while secretly completing his own harmful agenda.
The final scene shows Superman heading back to the Fortress of Solitude, where his robot assistants have been restored after being disfigured during an earlier attack. Suddenly, an explosive crash breaks the silence only to reveal that the person who did that was none other than Superman's cousin, Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock.
The reference hints at the upcoming Supergirl movie scheduled to premiere next year. The movie is based on Woman of Tomorrow. In the last scene, Supergirl wears her quintessential superhero costume that loosely resembles her first appearance in the comic. For DC-lovers searching for answers about the upcoming movies in the DCU Universe, Supergirl's debut clearly sets the stage for what's coming next.
Coming to the final post-credit scene, it takes an unnaturally light-hearted approach. In the sequence, Superman and Mister Terrific — a highly intelligent and skilled superhero, portrayed by Edi Gathegi are witnessing the damage caused by the fights. Instead of creating any significant moment to push the story forward, it highlights Superman and Mister Terrific's personalities, adding a humorous touch. This indicates that DC is now focusing more on the character arcs and tone of the movies rather than being hell-bent on introducing the next villain.

Vijay Sethupathi BREAKS Silence On Sexual Abuse Allegations: 'Family Upset; Complained To Cybercrime'

Vijay Sethupathi has denied the allegations and said that anyone who knows him will laugh at the accusations. Veteran actor Vijay Sethupathi has finally reacted to the allegations of sexual exploitation levelled against him by an X user. Speaking to Subhash K Jha from Deccan Chronicle, Vijay Sethupathi has denied the accusations, calling them filthy. He said that while his family is upset, he remains unaffected. The actor also revealed that he has filed a complaint with the cybercrime department. Vijay Sethupathi said, 'Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too. This kind of filthy accusation can't upset me. My family and close friends are upset, but I tell them, 'Let it slide. This woman is obviously doing it to be noticed. She has her few minutes of fame, let her enjoy it.'" He added, 'We've complained to cybercrime. I've faced all kinds of whispering campaigns for seven years. Such targeting has not affected me so far. It never will." The actor also said that the timing of the allegations is suspect. He said, 'My new film is doing well. Probably, some jealous elements think that by tarnishing me, they can damage my film. It doesn't work that way." He added, In today's day and age, anyone can say anything about anybody. There are no filters. All you need is an account on social media, and you can write what you like without fear of repercussion." For the unversed, the accusations against Vijay Sethupathi have been made by an X user named Ramya Mohan. The X post has now been deleted. Ramya claimed that Vijay Sethupathi has sexually exploited a girl she knows. The post read, '@VijaySethuOffl has offered Rs. 2L for 'caravan favors', Rs. 50k for 'drives' and acts like a saint on social media." The post also mentioned, 'This isn't one story. It's many, and the media worships these men like they are saints. The drug-sex nexus is real. Not a joke." The post also mentioned that 'drugs, manipulation, and transactional exploitation disguised as industry norm" is rampant in Kollywood. The X post has since been deleted, but not before it caught the attention of several social media users. DISCLAIMER: This news piece may be triggering. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' box office collection Day 6: Pedro Pascal starrer sees another drop; earns Rs 24.71 crore total

Marvel Studios' latest release, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps', continued its theatrical run in India with a declining box office performance on its sixth day. According to early estimates on sacnilk, the film earned approximately Rs 1.05 crore (India net) on Wednesday across all languages, bringing its total collection to an estimated Rs 24.71 crore. Box Office Collection Break Down Despite opening with a promising Rs 5.5 crore on Day 1, the film has since witnessed fluctuations in daily earnings. After a decent weekend haul of Rs 20.1 crore, Monday brought a significant dip to Rs 1.66 crore, followed by a marginal growth on Tuesday with Rs 1.9 crore. Wednesday's earnings suggested a further decline in numbers, considering that the movie recorded its lowest collection to date. Tough Competition While the film has found moderate success at the Indian box office, it must be noted that it can be linked to the film facing stiff competition from the Bollywood blockbusters like 'Saiyaara', which is on its way to the Rs 300 crore mark. Additionally, the animated epic 'Mahavatar Narsimha' has also eaten into the superhero film's market share, especially in regional circuits. Hollywood Films In India With just one day left to end its first week, 'The Fantastic Four' is expected to cross the Rs 25 crore mark in India, though its long-term performance might not be able to match the success of recent Hollywood releases like the DC superhero film 'Superman' which earned Rs 35 crore by the end of week 1 and the dino film 'Jurassic World Rebirth', which lapped up an impressive Rs 56.25 crore in its first week, with an estiamted Rs 26.1 crore raked in, just from its English shows. Directed by Matt Shakman , 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps 'stars Pedro Pascal , Vanessa Kirby , Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Julia Garner , Sarah Niles, and Ralph Ineson . The film marks the introduction of Marvel's First Family in the MCU. The film is also crutical as it sets the ball rolling for the next big blockbusters 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars'.
