Vijay Sethupathi BREAKS Silence On Sexual Abuse Allegations: 'Family Upset; Complained To Cybercrime'

News185 days ago
Vijay Sethupathi has denied the allegations and said that anyone who knows him will laugh at the accusations.
Veteran actor Vijay Sethupathi has finally reacted to the allegations of sexual exploitation levelled against him by an X user. Speaking to Subhash K Jha from Deccan Chronicle, Vijay Sethupathi has denied the accusations, calling them filthy. He said that while his family is upset, he remains unaffected. The actor also revealed that he has filed a complaint with the cybercrime department.
Vijay Sethupathi said, 'Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too. This kind of filthy accusation can't upset me. My family and close friends are upset, but I tell them, 'Let it slide. This woman is obviously doing it to be noticed. She has her few minutes of fame, let her enjoy it.'"
He added, 'We've complained to cybercrime. I've faced all kinds of whispering campaigns for seven years. Such targeting has not affected me so far. It never will." The actor also said that the timing of the allegations is suspect. He said, 'My new film is doing well. Probably, some jealous elements think that by tarnishing me, they can damage my film. It doesn't work that way."
He added, In today's day and age, anyone can say anything about anybody. There are no filters. All you need is an account on social media, and you can write what you like without fear of repercussion." For the unversed, the accusations against Vijay Sethupathi have been made by an X user named Ramya Mohan. The X post has now been deleted.
Ramya claimed that Vijay Sethupathi has sexually exploited a girl she knows. The post read, '@VijaySethuOffl has offered Rs. 2L for 'caravan favors', Rs. 50k for 'drives' and acts like a saint on social media." The post also mentioned, 'This isn't one story. It's many, and the media worships these men like they are saints. The drug-sex nexus is real. Not a joke." The post also mentioned that 'drugs, manipulation, and transactional exploitation disguised as industry norm" is rampant in Kollywood. The X post has since been deleted, but not before it caught the attention of several social media users.

Disguised as sadhus, robbers loot cab passengers at Delhi traffic signals

On August 1, a woman was heading to Connaught Place in a cab. Near Shadipur flyover, the car stopped at a traffic signal and three 'sadhus' knocked on her window, seeking alms. The woman rolled down the window to give them Rs 200 — and one of them swiftly pulled off a gold and diamond ring from her finger and the trio fled. On Tuesday, the Delhi Police said it has arrested the three who posed as sadhus and robbed unsuspecting taxi passengers at traffic signals in West Delhi's Moti Nagar. The accused have been identified as Vinod Kamat (50), Birju (45) and his son Kabir (19), and goldsmith Gurcharan Singh (57). Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said they received a call regarding the incident on August 1. 'On reaching the spot, the complainant reported that she was traveling from her residence in Moti Nagar to Connaught Place in a Rapido taxi. When the vehicle stopped at the red light near Shadipur Flyover, three men approached the vehicle,' Veer said. The officer said they smeared an ash-like substance on their bodies, perfecting the look of devout sadhus. The accused knocked on the complainant's window and begged for money. The complainant handed over Rs 200 to them — and lost her ring. During the investigation, police said CCTV footage from multiple cameras in the area near the crime scene were thoroughly examined. One camera showed the accused fleeing the spot in an auto-rickshaw. The auto owner was identified. On inquiry, the owner told police that she had rented the three-wheeler to Kamat and provided his mobile number. Police nabbed Kamat near Ashok Park Metro Station. Following his questioning, police raided a jhuggi in Punjabi Bagh and arrested Kabir and Birju. All three accused admitted to their involvement in the incident. Police said they had sold the stolen ring Gurcharan for Rs 26,000. A raid was conducted at his shop in GTB Nagar, and he was nabbed. 'During questioning, Singh admitted to purchasing the ring and melting it. He handed over the melted gold and 61 stone pieces,' another officer said. During further questioning, police said it was revealed that Kamat provided the getaway vehicle. Police said they are ascertaining if the accused have been involved in previous such cases.

With the global collections of Rs 486 crore, Saiyaara has crossed Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff's War (Rs 475.62), the film is expected to surpass its domestic collections (Rs 318.01 crore) by the end of its 4th weekend. Before the release of the movie, director Mohit Suri spoke about Saiyaara's comparison with Aashiqui 2 in an interview with Firstpost. He said, 'When I made Zeher, they said it looked like Murder. When I made Ek Villain, they said it looked like Murder 2. When I made Malang, they said it looked like Ek Villain. When I made Aashiqui 2, they said it looked like Woh Lame and Rockstar. So I think when I go ahead and make my next film, they'll say it looks like Saiyaara. I think when they're comparing it to my own work rather than somebody else's, it's good.'

Delhi man shot dead near Gurgaon's Kherki Daula Toll Plaza; second shooting incident in SPR area in 3 weeks

A Delhi resident was shot dead in Gurgaon Monday night in what is the second incident involving a shooting in public in the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) area in three weeks. The deceased has been identified as Rohit Shokeen, 39, son of Mahaveer Singh, a resident of Kamruddin Nagar in Delhi's Nangloi, which comes under the Nihal Vihar police station limits. He was gunned down off the SPR Road close to Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Sector 77 at around 9 pm, the police said. 'The incident is believed to have stemmed from a long-standing property dispute,' a spokesperson for the Gurgaon police said early on Tuesday. 'A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances behind the murder. A First Information Report (FIR) will be registered, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected,' the spokesperson added. According to the police, Shokeen sustained three gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital after Virender Saini, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Manesar, and multiple police teams reached the site after receiving information about a wounded man. Shokeen was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, sources indicated. Authorities have yet to make any arrests in this connection, but police teams remained at the site until at least midnight. The development comes a little over a fortnight after Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria, 35, was shot at in the Southern Peripheral Road section near Badshahpur in Gurgaon's Sector 71. He had escaped unhurt in the incident. Fazilpuria was allegedly standing near his SUV when the attackers arrived in another car and opened fire. Soon after, the singer got into his car and sped away. The attacker could not chase him due to the traffic, and he reportedly managed to escape. According to Fazilpuria, the attackers fired at him multiple times, but he was not injured and his vehicle was not damaged. Soon, the police arrested a Sonepat resident who allegedly carried out the recce for the shooting. Later, a post surfaced on social media in which a person claimed responsibility for the shooting and said it was the fallout of a financial dispute involving Rs 5 crore that the singer had allegedly not repaid. CCTV footage had also emerged of a Tata Punch car following the singer prior to the shooting.
