RANGERS Champions League foes geared up for their crunch tie at Ibrox by carrying out their final play-off preparations in Greenock.
Just days after welcoming Jimmy Thelin's Scottish Cup Winners Aberdeen to Inverclyde, Morton officials welcomed Belgian giants Club Brugge to Cappielow ahead of Tuesday night's clash in Glasgow.
Boss Nicky Hayen was quick to exchange pleasantries with club chairman John Laird and Director (Commercial) Sam Robinson before his side went through one last run out ahead of kick off in Govan.
Former Liverpool and Belgium stopper Simon Mignolet took to the hallowed Sinclair Street turf alongside international teammate Hans Vanaken, positioned between Laird and Robinson, and English Premier League-linked stars Christos Tzolis, Raphael Onyedika and Joel Ordonez.
The Bruges side geared up for the first of their two-legged clash against Russell Martin's side, with the winner sealing their place in this season's group stages of European football's elite competition.
A club statement released on Tuesday afternoon said: "It was a pleasure to welcome to Cappielow Park supported by Dalrada Technology this morning for some final preparation ahead of their Champions League play-off tie against Rangers..

Villarreal set to sign Chelsea's Renato Veiga in permanent transfer

Villarreal are set to complete the signing of Chelsea's Renato Veiga on a permanent transfer. Chelsea are confident that a deal, when finalised, will be processed for a total fee of around €30million (£26m) which includes achievable add-ons and a significant sell-on clause for the Premier League side. Advertisement Chelsea signed the versatile defender, who primarily plays at centre-back, from Basel for €14m last summer on a contract until June 2031, with the option of a further 12 months. After scoring two goals across 18 Chelsea appearances, the Portugal international spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he made 15 appearances and helped the club qualify for the Champions League after the club paid a €5m loan fee. Veiga became a Portugal international following his move to west London, and has since played five times for Roberto Martinez's side. The Athletic reported on July 22 that Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich were among the clubs who had registered their interest in the 21-year-old. Veiga was primarily a squad player in the first half of the season for Chelsea, making only one Premier League start and playing 90 minutes in all six of their Conference League league-phase matches. Sources close to Veiga, who spoke anonymously to protect relationships, told The Athletic in January that he wanted to establish himself in the Portugal team after breaking into Martinez's senior side in the opening months of 2024-25. He then joined Serie A side Juventus on loan, where he made 12 league starts in the second half of the campaign as they qualified for the Champions League with a fourth-place finish. Veiga was then not included in Chelsea's traveling squad for the Club World Cup after his spell in Italy ended, instead returning to their Cobham training base outside London alongside other returning loanees such as Ben Chilwell and Joao Felix, the latter of whom has joined Al Ittihad in a permanent move. Veiga was used primarily as an inverting left-back at Chelsea, occasionally playing as a defensive midfielder or centre-back. But all his Juventus appearances came in the heart of defence, where he has featured for Portugal. Spot the pattern. Connect the terms Find the hidden link between sports terms Play today's puzzle

Thomas Müller publishes children's book on his best moments with Bayern Munich and Germany

Thomas Müller's goodbye at Bayern Munich has been long and tough. Fans have sat through the reveal that he would not be given a new contract to stay in Munich, his very short renewal, the rumors over his potential next move, the last days of training in Munich and then his eventual goodbye. But Müller is nothing if not a man of many surprises, so perhaps something like this should have been expected. Just in time for his departure from Bayern, Bild reports, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, that the 2014 World Cup winner has published a book that details all his greatest adventures: Thomas Müller has published his own children's book, featuring eight illustrated highlights from his career on 16 of the pages include Germany's famous 4-0 win over Argentina in the 2010 World Cup and Bayern's 1-0 win over Paris Saint Germain in the 2020 Champions League final. Interestingly, then-PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel is illustrated sobbing into his hands. That could not have been motivated by anything else, right? If you would like to see some silly, comedic illustrations on Müller's greatest moments, then this book might be a fun one to purchase. Let's breakdown the latest and great news from a crazy week on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Weekend Warm-up Show. This is what we have on tap: Some final thoughts on the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup as we steamroll toward the match, including the expected absence of Alexander Nübel. Thomas Müller landed to much fanfare in Vancouver. Canada…such a great place. After some doubt, Kingsley Coman is finally off to Al Nassr. Let's talk about why there was a delay and what that could mean for what is going on inside the walls of Säbener Straße. The negotiations between Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade might have come to a fiery conclusion on Wednesday. That is a big problem for Bayern Munich, so let's discuss the fallout. All of a sudden Christopher Nkunku might be the value buy that Bayern Munich is looking for…let's kick around why that might not be a bad idea, but why it also is not the best idea.
