Premier's wife Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang passes away at age 76
Chief political secretary to the Premier Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman shared the news in a Facebook post.
'With great sadness, we would like to inform you that Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma'ani Tuanku Hj Bujang, wife of YAB Premier Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abg Hj Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abg Hj Openg, has returned to rahmatullah at 3.34am, 23 June 2025, corresponding to 26 Zulhijjah 1446 at the Normah Medical Center, Kuching,' said the post.
'May the deceased's soul be blessed and placed among the faithful.'
The post also said that the last rites will be held at Masjid Jamek, Petra Jaya here from 10am to 12 noon.
Juma'ani will be laid to rest at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery.
Jumaani, the daughter of Sarawak's second Head of State Tun Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman, married Abang Johari on Feb 26, 1977.
They were blessed with two children — Abang Abdillah Izzarim, 45, and Dayang Norjihan, 43.

The 49-year-old, better known as FBI said the annual programme not only drew wide public participation but also offered individuals the chance to realign their routines and strengthen their relationship with the holy scripture. 'We really need to make an effort to bring the Quran to life, especially among the younger generation and society as a whole. 'Perhaps at this point in time we are too busy with work and other commitments that, without realising it, we drift further from the Quran, even though we know it is very important in our lives as Muslims. 'But praise be to Allah, with Malaysia #QuranHour and World Quran Hour, it provides us the chance to reset momentum and review our daily schedules to see whether we are truly allocating time for the Quran,' he told Sinar. 'If we can hold concerts, why not allocate at least one day a year for a programme like this,' he said. He recalled being invited to the Malaysia #QuranHour at the International Islamic University Malaysia, where Surah al-Insan was recited and reflected upon at the mosque. 'The atmosphere was very uplifting. Some attended because they were invited by friends, others due to work assignments, but as the Prophet SAW said, even if we just pass by or listen, there is still reward. 'All the more so if we sincerely intend to join and reflect on the Quran,' he said. Faizal also reminded fellow celebrities and busy professionals that time management was a matter of priorities. 'Time is what we choose. In the past, I had many commitments to the point I felt there was never enough. 'So why not plan in advance by including Quran routines or programmes like this in our schedule. 'If we can lock in job dates early, why not lock the Malaysia #QuranHour date too, so it won't be disrupted by other events,' he said. Mukah Politeknik sweeps top honours in DoE Sarawak short video contest

PMU's DEP Production team, comprising Muhammad Nur Faizzuddin Hakimi Ibrahim Abdullah and Muhammad Haziq Hazim Abdullah from the Department of Electrical Engineering, clinched the first place. Second and third places also went to students from PMU's Department of Electrical Engineering, with Carlteddy Kassa Jeremy taking second under the team name Seventh, and Elvina Helen Jeffery and Arvinicia Eunellyn Aking placing third as Sahabat Alam. Two consolation prizes were awarded to PMU Incinerator Filter, represented by Victor Adam Clement, Mohammad Fitri Zahid Ismail, and Shahmiezan Sukri from the Department of Civil Engineering, and BTC Squad PMU, represented by Welther Lian Raymond, Thaddeus Alister Leo, and Kennethdy Uju Standly, also from the Department of Civil Engineering. The programme was officiated by Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine, and attended by representatives from the Mukah Resident's Office, UiTM Mukah, Sarawak Energy Berhad, as well as some 250 PMU students and accompanying lecturers. Running from 7.30am to 1pm, the event featured exhibitions and live demonstrations, including fire safety by the Fire and Rescue Department, the use of monitoring equipment by DoE, and talks on peatland fire prevention infrastructure, fire control, the prohibition of open burning by the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), and the health impacts of haze. According to PMU, the programme is in line with the institution's commitment to sustainability, reflecting the goals of SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). 'PMU extends its highest appreciation to DoE Sarawak and all collaborating partners. Emergency landing at Alor Setar airport: RMAF training aircraft safely touches down, trainee unharmed
ALOR SETAR, Aug 20 — The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) confirmed that a Pilatus PC-7 MkII training aircraft made an emergency landing at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport here at 11.26am yesterday. The RMAF Public Relations Division said that it would set up an investigation board to identify the cause of the incident. 'The aircraft was flown by a trainee from the Flight Institute 1 (INSPEN 1), of the Royal Airforce College who was undergoing solo flight training. The trainee was unhurt,' the division said in a statement today, adding that all training flights would continue as normal. Malaysia Airports had posted earlier on social media that the airport was temporarily closed due to the emergency landing and to allow the moving of the aircraft and cleaning up of the runway. The runway was reopened at 3pm after obtaining safety approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and flight operations at the airport resumed as normal. — Bernama
