Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the defending MVP entering the 2025 season after his exploits last year put a nice ribbon on his efforts.

Allen's stats don't jump out at you like Baker Mayfield's or Joe Burrow's did last year, but it was how Josh played that was crucial in his win.
Just six interceptions, and he played within himself as he led an offense that averaged 30.9 points per game to the playoffs yet again, and one could say with an average receiver room.
But now, as we look to 2025, what are the odds that Allen can repeat as MVP winner? Is that realistic? Bleacher Report thinks so.
"Last year's winner has finished in the top five in MVP voting in each of the last three seasons and has all the tools to repeat," Bleacher Report writes.

Now, Josh's statline last year reads 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions with 531 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
Given how the league is now pass-happy, Allen will need to improve on those numbers, as Mayfield (41 touchdowns), Burrow (43), and Lamar Jackson (41) will likely be close to those numbers again.
Allen's rushing touchdowns are a good tie-breaker, but his passing numbers will need to improve if he is to back up his MVP win with another. Yes, the wins will need to remain the same; that can't drop off, but everything else needs to improve.
With Buffalo expected to seriously challenge for the Super Bowl, Allen will be in the MVP mix regardless, but to have a genuine shot at winning it and being just the sixth player in NFL history to go back-to-back, the Superman cape might need to come out more often.

Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas on 10-day IL with right foot injury

CLEVELAND — Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas was placed on the 10-day injured list because of plantar fasciitis in his right foot Sunday before Cleveland faced the Detroit Tigers. The move is retroactive to Saturday. Infielder Will Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Columbus Thomas also missed 11 games in late May and early June because of plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Manager Stephen Vogt said before the game that next week's All-Star break should hopefully also give Thomas plenty of time to rest up for the second half of the season.

DeWanna Bonner's Involvement in Controversial Caitlin Clark Incident Emerges

DeWanna Bonner's Involvement in Controversial Caitlin Clark Incident Emerges originally appeared on Athlon Sports. DeWanna Bonner is no longer with the Indiana Fever after appearing in just nine games this season. Advertisement The two-time WNBA champion signed with Indiana as a free agent this past offseason, but after seeing her minutes decrease and being used exclusively off the bench, she stepped away from the team. The Fever eventually waived her, and Bonner said the "fit didn't work out." This all comes just one season after an incident between Bonner's former team, the Connecticut Sun, and the Fever during a game. DiJonai Carrington, who now plays for the Dallas Wings, caught Clark in the eye with her finger as she put her hand up to block a pass. Carrington was asked about the play in the postgame by Christine Brennan, the author of the book "On Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Women's Sports." "DiJonai, when you went and kind of swatted at Caitlin, did you intend to hit her in the eye, and if so — or if not, either way — could you talk about what happened on that play?" Brennan asked. Advertisement "I don't even know why I would intend to hit anybody in the eye," Carrington replied. "That doesn't even make sense to me. But no, I didn't. I didn't know I hit her, actually. I was trying to make a play on the ball and I guess I followed through and I hit her, so obviously it's never intentional, that's not even, like, the type of player that I am." Brennan followed up: "Did you and Marina kind of laugh about it afterwards? It looked like later on in the game they caught you guys laughing about it?" "No, I just told you I didn't even know I hit her, so I can't laugh about something I didn't know happened," Carrington added. Meanwhile, Brennan included the entire incident in her book and revealed that Bonner got involved after she and Carrington had already spoken. Brennan saw Bonner walking toward her, and the 6-foot-4 center said something to her. Advertisement "You disrespected my teammate," Bonner said when referring to Carrington. Brennan tried to introduce herself, but Bonner repeated what she had said earlier three more times. "You attacked my teammate," she said. "Bonner never raised her voice, nor did I," Brennan wrote. "It was the kind of tense but predictable conversation I have had dozens of times over the length of my career with professional athletes, especially in the National Football League. When a journalist is doing her job properly, and an athlete is doing hers or his properly, they sometimes will not get along." Kayla Thornton, Gabby Williams, Kiki Iriafen among WNBA All-Star Game reserves

NEW YORK — Kayla Thornton, Gabby Williams, Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron will be making their All-Star debuts in Indianapolis later this month as they were all chosen on Sunday as reserves for the game. Thornton has been in the league for nine years and finally is getting her chance to play in the exhibition game. She was selected in the expansion draft by Golden State last year from New York and has helped the expansion team get off to a good start. 'It would be such a reward for her,' said New York's Sandy Brondello, who will be one of the All-Star coaches. 'She's been a role player all her career, but to go into a new organization and do so well, I voted for her as an alternate to get there because she deserves it.' Williams has been in the league for six seasons, although she's missed time to play with France's national team. She's having a strong season for Seattle this year. Washington rookies Iriafen and Citron join Dallas' Paige Bueckers as first-year players on the All-Star team. Bueckers was chosen as a starter. It's the first time that three rookies will be playing in the game since 2011. Other reserves chosen include Seattle's Skylar Diggins, Phoenix's Alyssa Thomas, Atlanta's Rhyne Howard, Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell, Los Angeles' Kelsey Plum, Minnesota' Courtney Williams, Las Vegas' Jackie Young and Chicago's Angel Reese. 'It means a lot to go with these other two,' said Diggins, who will be making her seventh All-Star appearance, of playing with teammates Nneka Ogwumike and Williams. The reserves were selected by the WNBA's 13 head coaches, who each voted for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position regardless of conference. The coaches were not able to vote for their own players. Captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will draft their teams for the All-Star Game on July 19. First they'll chose from the eight other starters: Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, Bueckers, Ogwumike, Allisha Gray, Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally and Aliyah Boston. The All-Star teams will be revealed on Tuesday. Some notable players left off the team were Washington's Brittney Sykes, Atlanta's Brionna Jones, New York's Natasha Cloud and Los Angeles' Dearica Hamby. Connecticut was the only team without an All-Star selection.
