Knicks' Josh Hart undergoes finger procedure after suffering injury in playoffs
The New York star isn't expected to miss any time next season.

'He will resume basketball activities later in the summer,' the team said as part of a statement.
Hart, 30, played significant minutes during both the regular season and playoffs as the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000, falling to the Pacers in six games.
The guard had averaged 35.7 minutes during the postseason while posting 11.6 points per game over 18 appearances, 14 of which were starts.
Hart appeared in 77 games — all starts — during the regular season, averaging a league-leading 37.6 minutes per game with 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.5 steals.

The beloved Knick is expected to play a large role for the team on both ends of the floor next season, even with the change at head coach that has seen Mike Brown replace Tom Thibodeau.

The Knicks are viewed as a favorite in the Eastern Conference heading into 2025-26, especially with several players from rival teams dealing with season-ending injuries.

That list includes Celtics star Jayson Tatum and Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, who both suffered Achilles tears during the postseason.
Brown, however, isn't looking at that as making things easier for his new team.

'It doesn't matter if those guys are injured: Teams are going to find ways to win,' Brown said during his introductory press conference last week. 'We don't feel like it's going to be any easier because of injuries.'

Still, having Hart ready to go for the start of next season will certainly help the Knicks' championship goals.

Mikal Bridges, Knicks reportedly agree to four-year, $150 million extension
Mikal Bridges' first season reunited with his Villanova crew in New York didn't live up to the steep five first-round picks price paid for him, although Bridges started to find his footing and had some critical defensive moments in the playoffs. That, along with his potential fit in new coach Mike Brown's system, had the Knicks and Bridges agreeing to a four-year, $150 million contract extension, something first reported by ESPN's Shams Charania and since confirmed by multiple other reports. That is slightly less than the $156 million max he could have gotten this summer, Charania notes. While it may not seem like much, the giveback should give the Knicks more financial flexibility and help them avoid the dreaded second luxury tax apron in future seasons. Bridges also could have waited a year, become a free agent and gotten a larger five-year contract but took this deal instead. This deal locks up the Knicks' core — Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Bridges — for two more seasons, which becomes three years if KAT and Hart pick up their player options. Bridges' $37.5 million average salary on this contract is the fourth highest on the team (behind Towns, Anunoby and Brunson). That the Knicks were willing to pay Bridges that much now suggests they think Giannis Antetokounmpo is not going to be available this coming season. Bridges had an up-and-down first season in New York, averaging 17.6 points a game and shooting 35.4% from 3, his lowest percentage since his rookie season. However, he seemed more comfortable in Tom Thibodeau's system as the season went on and had some critical defensive plays in the playoffs, helping the Knicks reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years. Bridges is considered one of the players most likely to benefit from the up-tempo, more ball movement system new coach Mike Brown is expected to bring to Madison Square Garden next season.

New York Knicks, Mikal Bridges agree to 4-year extension, per reports
The New York Knicks and forward Mikal Bridges have agreed to a four-year, $150 million contract extension with the franchise, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Bridges, who just finished his first season in New York, will be under contract with the Knicks through 2029. The new deal is expected to have a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker. The monetary amount is just slightly less max extension number of $156 million. Bridges has played and started in all 82 games over each of the past two years. He averaged 17.6 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game during the 2025 season. ANALYSIS: Why these 4 very good NBA players remain unsigned Bridges was traded to the Knicks by the Brooklyn Nets in July 2024 as part of a multi-player deal. Bridges spent more than four years in Phoenix before the Nets acquired him from the Suns in February 2023.
