'Charithra Chandran at Wimbledon' viral moment: actress praised for natural beauty, netizen's react

Charithra Chandran
video went viral at
Wimbledon
tennis tournament for her natural beauty, leading to both praise and criticism online, and sparking a debate on beauty standards.
Charithra Chandran went viral
In July, 2025, actress Charithra Chandran went viral after being spotted at the Wimbledon tennis tournament. She was sitting quietly behind actor
Andrew Garfield
in the royal box, a VIP section at the event and there someone took a short video of her calmly watching the match, and the clip was soon posted online.
Without saying or doing anything dramatic, Charithra's presence grabbed people's attention and the video was viewed over millions times on the platform X (formerly Twitter), and users were instantly drawn to her beauty and elegance. Many praised her with comments like 'All eyes on the brown queen' and 'She's one of the most beautiful people to exist.
'
Netizen's reaction
However, as the video gained popularity, the internet also turned negative.
Some people began to criticize her looks and speculated about her makeup or possible cosmetic surgery. Online trolls argued whether she looked better with or without makeup. A few users even compared her pictures side by side, one from Wimbledon and another with a different appearance, sparking a shallow debate and others insulted her by calling her 'mid,' a slang word suggesting someone is average.
This backlash shows that how quickly public admiration can turn into unfair and wrong judgment.

Experts say this type of reaction is part of a bigger problem. Leora Tanenbaum, an author and critic of sexist beauty standards, explained the double bind women face. She said if a woman wears makeup, people accuse her of trying too hard. If she doesn't, they say she's not doing enough. Either way, women, especially women of colour are judged no matter what. This situation shows how unrealistic and damaging beauty standards can be.
In Charithra's case, she did nothing but sit and watch a tennis match and yet, people still found reasons to judge her.
About Charithra Chandran
Charithra Chandran is a 28-year-old British Indian actress, born in Scotland in 1997. She spent some of her early years in Tamil Nadu, India, and later returned to the UK. She studied at the University of Oxford and graduated with a top degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Her journey into acting started with stage performances, and she also later appeared in TV series.
But her major fame came in 2022 when she played Edwina Sharma in one of the hit series 'Bridgerton'.
Since then, her career has continued to grow. Even though she is earning success through her work, the Wimbledon incident showed how quickly people focus on appearance rather than talent.
Charithra did nothing to invite this attention, she was quietly enjoying a tennis match, yet her image became the center of a worldwide discussion.
This moment is about more than just a celebrity sighting. It reflects how deeply rooted beauty standards and racism still are in society.

Woman who grew up with monkeys shares her life experience, 'They talk to each other in a language…'

In a world filled with unimaginable childhood stories, Marina Chapman's account of survival stands apart for one reason– it's real. No fiction, no folklore. Just a girl, left alone in the Colombian rainforest at the age of four, who survived by observing and imitating a group of wild monkeys. Her story, now widely discussed after resurfacing in recent interviews, is not framed by drama or exaggeration. It's a stark and honest recollection of what it meant to grow up completely disconnected from human society– and how instinct, silence, and the company of animals helped her endure. Now in her later years, Marina is speaking more openly about her past, not to shock or entertain, but to share what survival looked like when her only teachers were capuchin monkeys. A childhood cut short by abduction Marina's early life in Colombia took a traumatic turn when she was abducted from her village around the age of four, according to a report by UNILAD. The reasons behind the kidnapping remain unclear, but she was eventually abandoned in dense forest territory– alone, frightened, and unsure of what to do next. With no one to call for help and no knowledge of the jungle, she found herself surrounded by a troop of monkeys. Slowly, they became her silent guides. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pensioners Can Buy These Electric Cars in Malaysia - See Prices Here! With no knowledge of edible plants or safe water sources, she began closely observing the monkeys' behaviour. "I didn't know what to eat except the water. And I noticed the monkeys used to eat things. They kept eating something, and I kept watching where they were getting this food, and it took me days to find out where they were getting the food," she told UNILAD. One monkey, she recalls, played an unexpected role in helping her find food by quietly stealing fruit from sleeping humans nearby. "Except one of them was a very good one. He used to go when some Indian people had fallen asleep, and they used to hear the sound of people falling asleep. And he went into their room, very quiet, and he got a lot of food out of these rooms with huge amounts of fruit. And it used to carry so much that he dropped it. And that was the first time I came out and found a banana or other things." This small moment would teach her how to find scattered food– and how to grab it fast. "And I pick it up quickly, but you better move quickly because if you don't, they take it away quickly. So I learned to eat as fast as I could, always." Adapting to the sounds of the forest Jungle life meant staying alert at all times. With no human interaction, Marina learned to understand the meaning behind different monkey sounds– many of which signalled food, threats, or movement. "I had to learn to recognise the sounds. The screechy one, you have to really be careful, you have to hide away. Many sounds mean something. The 'danger' one is the louder one, and then the whistle one is the 'food' one. And each sound means different things, but it took me a while to get used to it. I just learned from watching what they were doing every time I heard the sound." For Marina, these sounds became the difference between staying safe and getting hurt. There was no safety net, only observation and reaction. Found by hunters, but not freed According to the UNILAD report, at around age ten, after nearly six years in the forest, Marina was discovered by hunters. But rescue didn't mean relief. Instead, she was taken away and reportedly sold into a brothel. Her years of jungle survival were followed by fresh trauma in urban society. Eventually, she managed to escape and survive on the streets of Columbia for a period. Her journey from there continued through more difficulties, eventually leading to a new life. Her full story was first detailed in her book The Girl With No Name, published in 2013. Thumb image: Generated by Canva AI (only for representative purposes)

Bollywood couple Kajol and Ajay Devgn's daughter Nysa Devgan is now a graduate. The star kid attended the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Montreux, Switzerland. A clip from her graduation ceremony has surfaced online on Saturday as Kajol attended her daughter's graduation and cheered loudly for her 'baby.' Nysa's graduation ceremony was telecast live on YouTube. A clip from the live session has surfaced online, featuring Nysa. Dressed in the traditional graduation robe over a lilac dress, she was spotted smiling as she walked onto the stage to receive her degree from her teachers. While some are heard cheering for her, it was Kajol who was the loudest of all. Kajol is heard screaming, "Come on baby." Even Nysa's teachers couldn't resist from passing a giggle at Kajol's excitement. Sharing the video on X, formerly Twitter, someone wrote, "Congratulations Nysa!!! (In the chaos of 100s I can actually hear Kajol's "C'mon babyyyy!!" So clearly )." Kajol's reaction immediately reminded fans of her character Anjali from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. 'She's truly the real life anjali. 'haaye… meri beti' (sic)," commented a fan. Another added, 'This is so Anjali from K3g energy.' Someone also said, 'It's the Anjali in her.' It is not known if Ajay Devgn joined Kajol and Nysa at their daughter's graduation. The Raid 2 actor is yet to post about Nysa's graduation. Nysa Devgan previously studied in Singapore at the United World College of South East Asia, before moving to Switzerland to pursue her undergraduate degree. While Nysa is Ajay and Kajol's first child, they also have a son, Yug Devgan. Yug is currently completing his school. Meanwhile, it is not certain if Nysa will make her debut in Bollywood after finishing her graduation. Kajol and Ajay have repeatedly stated that Nysa is not interested in joining the industry as of yet. Talking about Nysa, recently Kajol told Zoom: 'When I look at her, I feel, my God, she is the woman we all want to be. It is this amazing quality which today's girls have that they expect to be treated well. They expect to be treated with the same dignity. They expect good manners. If you are not there, they call you out.' "I am very proud of her. I have said that to her as well. I am proud of the fact that she carries herself with so much dignity and grace. I think it is always a test of your character when you are faced with uncomfortable situations, and how you react to them. It shows your true mettle. I am proud of my upbringing and my daughter," the actor also said.
