Costco Issues 'Warning' to Shoppers Ahead of June 30 Change

Yahoo5 hours ago

Costco is giving a new benefit to its highest tier of members next month, and the big announcement is coming with days to spare until the new change.
Starting in a matter of days, Costco will open its warehouse stores one hour earlier for all of those who have the Executive Membership - the most expensive and highest tier of Costco's membership program.
Previously, the perk of additional hours was only available at certain locations. The new change will affect all Costco locations, incentivizing shoppers who prefer to venture at at earlier time or with less crowds to do so under the more expensive membership.
"Our Executive Members are our most loyal members, and we want to reward them for their commitment to Costco," the company said in an email, according to Business Insider.
In addition to the earlier hours, Executive Members will also receive a $10 monthly credit for orders made through Instacart and up to $150 in savings on other services.
Most Costco warehouses open at 10 AM and at 9:30 AM on Saturdays, but Executive Members will be able to shop at 9 AM on weekdays from June 30 onward.
The pharmacy, optical center, and food court - among other specialized areas within the store - may not open at the earlier time, depending on the location and its staffing on that particular day.
Executive Memberships cost $130 per year, and gives members a free Costco membership card valid at all locations around the globe. Members also receive an annual 2% benefit on select purchases, perks on Costco travel and other benefits.
Costco's Gold Star Membership costs $65 annually, effectively cutting the cost in half over the course of a calendar year. Members do lose out on the extra benefits, but they still earn the same membership card that's valid at every Costco warehouse around the world.
The membership prices are up across the board from their previous status. Gold Star was once $60 while the Executive Membership was once $120, price increases that come as the chain admits prices on certain goods will increase due to impeding tariffs.
These items mostly include food imported from other countries, and Costco will increase prices in America to retain the same profit margins from before the implementation of those tariffs.

Why Light & Wonder Stock Blasted 10% Higher Today

The company had a good day in court. It's being sued by a peer who's alleging intellectual property misappropriation. 10 stocks we like better than Light & Wonder › Gaming technology stock Light & Wonder (NASDAQ: LNW) -- formerly known as Scientific Games -- proved to be quite the solid bet on Wednesday. On some very positive news in the legal sphere, investors piled into the company's shares, pumping them more than 10% higher in price. That looked especially good when compared to the S&P 500's (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) flatline performance. Light & Wonder is currently locked in a legal dispute with peer company Aristocrat Leisure. Aristocrat is accusing it of copying elements from one of its casino slot games in the design of Light & Wonder's Dragon Train game. On Wednesday, the Nevada court in which the case is being heard made a ruling on discovery that favors Light & Wonder. It ruled that the company will not have to reveal its math models on the slot games in question. In addition, the court asked for specificity from Aristocrat regarding the trade secrets it's litigating to protect. Aristocrat, which is headquartered in Australia, brought its case against the American company in 2024. At the time, it stated in a press release that it "will seek all appropriate remedies to address the harm caused by Light & Wonder's actions." Light & Wonder had, understandably, been fairly quiet about the case. Perhaps it'll speak up more now that it seems to be tilting in its favor. Having said that, I wouldn't be ready to break out the champagne if I were a shareholder, at least not yet. Court cases can develop and resolve in unexpected ways, and Light & Wonder isn't out of the woods. I don't think anyone should buy or sell the company's stock based on predictions of the lawsuit's outcome. UBS lifts S&P 500 index's annual target on fading trade tensions

(Reuters) -UBS Global Wealth Management raised its year-end target for the S&P 500 index to 6,200 from its prior forecast of 6,000, banking on softening trade uncertainty. "We think the recovery makes sense, considering that most largecap companies should weather the tariffs reasonably well," UBS said in a note late Thursday. FDOT to add turn lane for busy Chick-fil-A entrance on Capital Circle NE

Tallahassee motorists have long been vexed trying to negotiate traffic jams caused by other drivers backed up on Capital Circle Northeast, waiting to get in to the Chick-fil-a next to Texas Roadhouse. Now, the Florida Department of Transportation is coming to the rescue. Department staff members held a public meeting at Grace Lutheran Church the evening of June 26 to share with residents proposed changes to the always busy roadway. The big news out of that meeting: FDOT is looking to create a designated right turn lane leading to the Chick-fil-a. The lane would create a safer entry point for those wanting to turn and will allow traffic to flow more smoothly, with other drivers unhindered by those looking to grab a bite. The proposed lane is part of the department's "U.S. 319 (Capital Circle) Resurfacing Project," which aims "to resurface existing travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, median crossovers, and paved shoulders." According to the project description, it will also include "resurfacing Killearn Center Boulevard, the State Road 61 Flyover, and Market Street." Bids for construction are expected to go out in early 2026. According to FDOT spokesperson Lindsey Harrell, the total budget for the project is around $8.6 million. She said construction will take around a year and will occur at night "so as not to cause ... a huge disturbance to drivers during the day." The new turn lane was well received by those who showed up at the meeting. For example, Alan Mitchell said his family "goes by there quite often and (we) always comment on how traffic is backed up, trying to get in" to the Chick-fil-A. "... They didn't quite adjust for what was going to be necessary to get people in there without blocking through traffic." Information for the project can be found at You can also subscribe for email updates. For specific questions, Project Manager Amy Heikkinen can be reached at or by phone at 850-867-2537.
