WFP Yemen Annual Country Report 2024
While relative calm prevailed on the frontlines of Yemen, the 10th year of crisis saw a continued lack of diplomatic progress, the destabilizing impacts of regional crises, climate shocks, and a deepening economic crisis.
WFP assisted one in every four people in Yemen in 2024 through its second-largest operation worldwide. However, operational, contextual, and fiscal challenges significantly curtailed the scale and scope of WFP activities.
WFP operationalized a new programmatic direction to maximize the impact of scarce resources. This includedthe resumption of food assistance in areas under the Sana'a-based authorities after an eight-month pause.

Islamic Bodies in Al-Quds denounce escalating violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque
Occupied Quds - Saba: Islamic institutions in Al-Quds have condemned the escalating and unprecedented violations by Jewish extremist groups against Al-Aqsa Mosque. This came in a joint statement issued on Tuesday by the Council of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Al-Quds, the Supreme Islamic Authority, the Palestinian Fatwa Council, the Office of the Chief Justice in Al-Quds, and the Department of Islamic Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs. The Islamic bodies also denounced the extremist Jews' desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by performing public prayers, rituals, prostrations, singing, and dancing within its courtyards—actions that have become a daily occurrence. They described these acts as a clear violation of red lines and a deliberate disregard for the beliefs of over 2 billion Muslims worldwide. The Quds-based Islamic institutions held the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for the serious violations against one of Islam's holiest sites, Al-Aqsa Mosque, by enabling large groups of Jewish extremists to storm the mosque daily under military protection to perform their public rituals. They emphasized that these acts constitute a blatant violation of the religious, historical, and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which has remained an exclusive place of worship for Muslims for five centuries, spanning an area of 144 dunams. The Islamic bodies reaffirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a divinely ordained place of worship for Muslims alone, as it was the destination of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Night Journey from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca before his ascension to the heavens. They stressed that Al-Aqsa will remain an Islamic mosque until the Day of Judgment, stating that it cannot be divided or shared. The Islamic institutions in Al-Quds called on Arab and Islamic nations to take a firm stance against the arrogance and blatant aggression of the occupation authorities toward Al-Aqsa Mosque. They also urged the Islamic world and the international community to act swiftly to halt these serious violations before Jewish extremist groups proceed with their declared plans to Judaize, demolish, or occupy Al-Aqsa Mosque—God forbid. WFP Warns: Without aid, Gaza faces catastrophe
Geneva – SABA: Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), warned on Sunday that without a ceasefire and immediate aid access, Gaza will face catastrophe. In a press statement, McCain stressed that her teams must be allowed entry by Israeli authorities to deliver life-saving assistance and prevent famine in Gaza. She added: "Our reports confirm local accounts that 31 people died near the US-Israeli aid distribution center." Since the closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing on March 2, no humanitarian aid, fuel, or medical supplies have entered Gaza, raising fears of an imminent humanitarian disaster. Civil Aviation Authority condemns Yemen Airways' Aden Branch decision to reject tickets issued in Sana'a
Sana'a - SABA: The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology has strongly condemned the recent directive issued by the Aden-based management of Yemen Airways, which prohibits accepting tickets issued in the capital, Sana'a, or making any changes or confirmations to such bookings. The directive also threatens legal accountability for any violations. In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the Authority declared the directive to be in clear violation of civil aviation laws and a blatant infringement on the rights of Yemeni citizens. The statement emphasized that those most affected by this decision are patients stranded abroad who are already facing dire economic and living conditions, making it difficult for them to purchase new tickets. It further asserted that internal administrative disputes within the airline should not be resolved at the expense of ordinary citizens, especially considering that Yemen Airways is the only national carrier and is collectively owned by the Yemeni people. The Authority called on the airline's management in Aden to uphold its national and legal responsibilities and not to become a tool for enacting retaliatory policies that harm the interests and dignity of Yemenis. The Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority urged the Aden branch of Yemen Airways to immediately rescind this directive unconditionally and to separate public service from internal conflicts. It also called for urgent measures to ensure the continuity of aviation services for all Yemenis without discrimination. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (Local)
