'We can't keep afloat anymore': Fluff Bakery to close after 12 years, Lifestyle News
The Muslim-owned cafe announced the news in an Instagram post last Friday (Aug 15).
Their last day will be some time from mid to end September.
"It has been tough for a couple of years now and we just can't keep afloat anymore," they wrote in the post.
"Our story runs deep but some things are best left unsaid. It's been such a bittersweet journey for almost 12 years that we have been running this bakery and it breaks our hearts to close our doors forever." View this post on Instagram

The bakery added that as they still have staff salaries, suppliers and rent to pay, they hope customers can come and support them during their last few days of operations so they can close "without any major debts".
"Come by for one last hurrah and for us to say our goodbyes to the community and all the familiar faces we have been serving for the last 12 years."

Fluff Bakery was founded in 2012 by Syaira, a self-taught baker.
Growing up, she had a passion for baking and used to gift bakes to her family and friends, the establishment shared on their website.
The business has been in the heritage area of Kampong Glam for more than a decade and started from a modest store at Jalan Pisang in 2013. They subsequently relocated to their current flagship store in 2021 at 795 North Bridge Road.
From 2017 to 2019, Fluffy Bakery also had a cafe in Kuala Lumpur.
At Fluffy Bakery's peak in 2015, they were selling more than 2,000 cupcakes a day, they shared. And since 2016, Syaira had expanded the menu to include whole cakes, rustic loaf cakes, cheesecakes, donuts, flatbreads and gelato.

The second Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding exercise for August 2025 saw increases across most categories once again, with Cat A premiums reaching their highest point since October 2023. Cat A COEs, which are used for cars with internal combustion engines (ICEs) of up to 1,600cc in capacity and have a power output of less than 130hp, as well as electric cars with a power output of up to 110kW, went up by $2,515 to end the bidding exercise at $104,524. Cat B COEs, which are used for ICE cars that exceed 1,600cc in capacity or have more than 130hp, and electric cars with over 110kW, saw premiums going up by $902 to end at $124,400. Cat C, which are for goods vehicles and buses, saw prices went up by $2,189 to end the bidding exercise at $72,190. Cat D, which are reserved for motorcycles, went down by $380 to close at $8,809. Finally, Cat E, which is open to all vehicles except motorcycles, saw premiums go up by $2,667 to finish the exercise at $125,001. First Nasdaq-listed Filipino-owned company Hotel101 Global enters Cambodia
[SINGAPORE] Hotel101 Global, the first Filipino-owned company to list on the Nasdaq stock exchange , on Wednesday (Aug 20) entered into binding agreements with Cambodian real estate developer Canopy Sands Development to build two hotels in the country. '(This marks) a pivotal step in Hotel101 Global's long-term vision to operate one million hotel rooms across 100 countries', said the proptech hospitality platform and its parent DoubleDragon – whose chairpersons Tony Tan and Edgar Sia are the respective founders of two of the Philippines' largest fast-food chains, Jollibee and Mang Inasal. The companies noted that the move is part of Hotel101's global expansion strategy, with Cambodia as the sixth country that the group has entered – after the Philippines, Japan, Spain, the US and Saudi Arabia. 'Cambodia is seen as a lucrative market for Hotel101 as the country was reported to have received a total of over 6.7 million international visitors in 2024. Popular dessert store Fluff Bakery to close in September: 'It has been tough for a couple of years now'
Popular Muslim-owned dessert spot Fluff Bakery announced on Friday (Aug 15) that it will be closing "for good" sometime in September. Without specifically citing the reasons for its closure, Fluff Bakery wrote on its social media pages that "it has been tough for a couple of years now and [it] just can't keep afloat anymore". "It's been such a bittersweet journey for almost 12 years that we have been running this bakery and it breaks our hearts to close our doors forever," wrote Fluff Bakery. "We still have staff salaries and suppliers and rental to pay, so we hope you guys can come and support us in store or order online for delivery/ events/ bake sales for these last few weeks that we are open, so that we [can] hopefully close without any major debts," wrote Fluff Bakery. In a follow-up Instagram Story on Aug 19, owner Nursyazanna Syaira Mohammad Suhimi said that because "orders are extremely full", the team has closed all orders till the middle of September. However, customers can still head to its store at 795 North Bridge Road to purchase Fluff Bakery's baked goods. Fluff Bakery was started in 2012 by Syaira and her now-husband, Ashraf Alami. In a previous interview with CNA Lifestyle, the couple shared that the venture began with Syaira selling cupcakes out of her mum's kitchen to raise money for their wedding expenses. "We opened an Instagram account to promote the bakes and as customers posted good reviews of the cupcakes and tagged us, our following grew quickly and so did the volume of orders," said Ashraf. "We were baking 60 cupcakes a day and at one point we were fully booked for three months." They then partnered with the cafe, Penny University, to sell cupcakes there, which garnered them even more fans.
