Netflix's TUDUM Preview Gives Brief Looks At Upcoming Movies And TV Series

Happy Gilmore 2, Squid Game Season 3, Wednesday Season 2 and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein are among the projects featured in a new Netflix TUDUM 2025 preview.
TUDUM has become a major annual event for Netflix, where an arena-sized crowd gathers for celebrity presentations of their upcoming projects for the streamer. In addition, the presentation will stream live on Netflix on Saturday, May 31.
'For one night only, Netflix's biggest and brightest will hit the stage and stream live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles,' Netflix announced Monday. 'The show is stacked with Netflix news and exclusive reveals about titles you won't want to miss, including your favorite stars from Emily in Paris, Frankenstein, Happy Gilmore 2, Love Is Blind, ONE PIECE, Outer Banks, The RIP, Squid Game, Stranger Things, America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, The Life List, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Wednesday, WWE and more.'
Netflix released a 1 minute and 17-second preview of Netflix TUDUM 2025 on social media on Monday, giving looks at brief snippets of footage featuring Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in The RIP and Jenna Ortega in Wednesday.
Also featured were brief snippets of Stranger Things Season 5, Lee Jung-jae in Squid Game, Daniel Craig in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Oscar Isaac in Frankenstein.
Viewers can watch the full Netflix TUDUM 2025 preview in the streaming service's X post below.
According to the streamer, Netflix TUDUM 2025 will be available to stream for all three subscription plans on the platform. The event will stream live at 8 a.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Netflix.
Viewers who want to see Netflix TUDUM 2025 live in person at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles can purchase tickets on Ticketmaster starting May 9 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. Ticket prices for the event have not yet been revealed.
While the release dates of some upcoming Netflix programming have already been set — Wednesday Season 2, for example, will be released in two parts on Aug. 6 and Sept. 3 — the event will likely reveal the release date for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, which currently is expected sometime in November.
Happy Gilmore 2 has already been dated for a July 25 release while the release of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is yet to be announced. Like Frankenstein, Wake Up Dead Man is bound to be an awards season contender, so in all likelihood the film will come out later in the year.

Ncuti Gatwa: The Sex Education star who brought a flirty-spin to the Doctor
Ncuti Gatwa rose to fame first in Netflix's Sex Education, before gaining praise for bringing light-hearted banter and flirty chat to the role of the 15th Doctor. His path to success has been a long and winding one, with struggles with depression and homelessness, before landing the role of a lifetime and a dream for thousands of young actors. The 32-year-old took on the role of the Time Lord previously filled by Matt Smith, David Tennant – who was brought back to be the 14th Doctor where he ushered in a bi-generation storyline that led to Gatwa becoming the 15th Doctor – and actress Jodie Whittaker. Born in Rwanda before moving to Scotland, where he was raised, Gatwa began his career as an extra on the 2014 sitcom Bob Servant. In 2016, he played Demetrius in a production of A Midsummer's Nights Dream at Shakespeare's Globe, before his big break came when he was cast in Sex Education as Eric Effiong, a young gay British-Nigerian who is best friends with Otis, the show's lead character. The Netflix show, which ran from 2019 until 2023, documented Eric's growth as he deals with his family's acceptance of his sexuality while he embraces his Nigerian heritage. He also falls in love with Adam (Connor Swindells), who bullied him in the first series, and has ups and downs in his friendship with (Otis Milburn) Asa Butterfield. However, Gatwa's seemingly meteoric rise, which led to him being cast in the 2023 blockbuster Barbie, has been far from plain sailing. Writing in The Big Issue in May 2020, he said he ended up homeless after running out of savings in the months before he landed his role in Sex Education. 'Being a 25-year-old man with no money or job affected my sense of self-worth,' he wrote. 'Rejection became unbearable. Auditions weren't just acting jobs, they were lifelines.' He continued: 'One friend gave me money towards paying off the prior month's rent and offered to let me move into their spare room rent free for a while. 'Great, I thought. An opportunity to get back on my feet and start paying people back. 'On moving-in day, he changed his mind. As I was standing on the street with my suitcases, one thought came into my head: 'I'm homeless'.' While everything appeared fine to the outside world, Gatwa was losing weight because he could not afford to eat properly. 'To the outside world everything seemed fine. I was temping at Harrods,' he wrote. 'I'd wake up from the double bed I shared with my best friend, leave the house without a hair out of place in a slick-looking trench coat and polished brogues. 'I would get compliments for looking so presentable. When I lost weight due to eating only one meal a day, people told me how lean and healthy I looked.' In reality, Gatwa had developed depression, though he kept it from his friends out of fear of being a 'burden', and later worked through the mental health condition. He joined Doctor Who in 2023 when Russell T Davies, who was behind the programme's 2005 revival, took over from showrunner Chris Chibnall – who steered Whittaker's run and worked with her and Tennant previously on Broadchurch. Gatwa's turn in the science fiction show was praised by reviewers for his first season's starting episodes Space Babies and The Devil's Chord. The Guardian said that he 'will make this show far more fun than it's been for years', praising him for being 'naturally able to express the dazzling extremes' of the character, while The Times said he 'sparkles as a charismatic Doctor with otherworldly energy'. However, Davies, who had success with Channel 4's It's A Sin and Queer As Folk as well Doctor Who spin-offs The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood, has recently faced accusations that he has pushed the show in a 'woke' direction. A small number of social media critics have pointed to the diversity of the cast, a drag queen villain, and introduction of transgender and non-binary characters. However, both he and Gatwa have strongly dismissed this criticism as from a minority, with Davies telling BBC Radio 2's 20 Secrets From 20 Years: 'Someone always brings up matters of diversity. 'And there are online warriors accusing us of diversity and wokeness and involving messages and issues. 'And I have no time for this. I don't have a second to bear (it). Because what you might call diversity, I just call an open door.' Gatwa told Attitude magazine in 2024 that the hateful comments the sci-fi show has received after casting a black man is 'fascinating, because there's so much energy they're putting into it … I think they need to go find a hobby is one thing'. During his time, he has had companions in the form of Andor actress Varada Sethu, and former Coronation Street actress Millie Gibson, who played Gatwa's companion Ruby Sunday since the 2023 Christmas episode The Church On Ruby Road. Highlights have included a Regency-themed episode that saw him have a burgeoning romance with the character Rogue, played by Mindhunter actor Jonathan Groff, the explosive Boom episode and the arrival of the classic Time Lord villain, the Rani. Since Doctor Who, Gatwa has been in a re-imagined version of Oscar Wilde's The Importance Of Being Earnest at the National Theatre, and is set to be in West End play Born With Teeth – which re-imagines the relationship between rival playwrights Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare. ‘Fantastic Voyage': David S. Goyer On Hopes He And Guillermo Del Toro Can Complete Remake Of Sci-Fi Classic

Goyer is hoping he and Guillermo del Toro can still find a way to embark on their long-gestating remake of the 1966 sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage. Goyer, of course, collaborated with director Christopher Nolan as a screenwriter on The Dark Knight Trilogy and is currently executive producing Apple TV+'s Murderbot. Goyer first teamed with del Toro in 2002 on the Wesley Snipes Marvel movie Blade II, which he co-wrote and del Toro directed. Starring Raquel Welch, Stephen Boyd, Edmund O'Brien and Donald Pleasence, Fantastic Voyage follows a crew of five scientists who are miniaturized in a submarine and injected into the bloodstream of an ailing colleague in a desperate bid to prevent his death. The Fantastic Voyage remake was to be directed by del Toro from a script by Goyer and produced in collaboration with James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment. 'Guillermo's a good friend. We've worked on about five or six projects together,' Goyer said in a recent Zoom conversation. 'We were in prep on Fantastic Voyage and it was very close. A production designer was on and all of the above. "While we were in prep for that, Guillermo said, 'I've got this deal with Searchlight' and 'Do you have any scripts that could be made for $20 million?' and I gave him a script called Antlers that we produced together,' Goyer added. Caulfield/WireImage) While Antlers — a horror thriller directed by Scott Cooper that starred Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons — was released in 2021, Fantastic Voyage remained in development. The film was put on pause in 2017, Deadline reported. 'Fantastic Voyage got derailed with the-then regime at Fox, but God, it was a good one,' Goyer added. 'It was such a great experience working with Guillermo and James Cameron on that, and then my experience working on that led to my working on Terminator: Dark Fate with Cameron and we got along great.' While it has been eight years since Fantastic Voyage began treading water, Goyer said he isn't giving up hope on the film just yet. 'I've known Guillermo forever. I hope one day we can figure out [how to get Fantastic Four made],' Goyer said. 'In fact, now, my friend Steve Asbell is running [20th Century Studios], so it occurs to me that I should call him up and say, 'Hey, maybe we should try to resurrect this.' "I also have a Star Wars script I wrote with Guillermo that hasn't been made, so there are definitely a few ones that have gotten away,' Goyer added. While David S. Goyer has yet to complete Fantastic Voyage with Guillermo del Toro, the duo has had the good fortune to collaborate on other projects including the 2022 Netflix horror anthology series Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. When the series — which was initially known as Guillermo del Toro's 10 After Midnight (via Deadline) — got the green light at Netflix, the director reached out to Goyer to write a script for one of the eight short stories he was going to produce for the series. 'He said I'm doing this 10 After Midnight thing at Netflix and I've optioned X amount of short stories and I had read them all,' Goyer recalled. 'Guillermo said, 'You get first pick if you want to do one. Since I had always loved The Autopsy and the author [Michael Shea], I wrote that.' Then, Goyer, added, he experienced something that's never happened to him in all of his years as a writer. 'I adapted the story and sent Guillermo the script and he said, 'I love it. No notes.' It went into Netflix, and no notes,' Goyer enthused. 'It was the first time in my life that it ever happened. It was just like, 'Boom!' It was just a completely painless experience.' Goyer is currently executive producing the new Apple TV+ sci-fi action comedy Murderbot, which is based on Martha Wells' best-selling The Murderbot Diaries book series. In addition, Season 3 of Goyer's sci-fi series Foundation debuts on Apple TV+ on July 11, while his Netflix fantasy series The Sandman returns for its second and final film season with six episodes on July 3 and six episodes on July 24. Meanwhile, del Toro is readying his version of the Mary Shelley horror classic, Frankenstein, for release on Netflix sometime in November.
