Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs' star player and one of the most talented players in the league, has shown the world how capable he is. While the Chiefs might have lost out on the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles last season, Patrick Mahomes' record on the field has been impressive and shocking.
With the upcoming season of the NFL being a few weeks away, here are 5 things that Patrick Mahomes does to gear up.
The superstitious warm up plan that keeps Patrick Mahomes focused on winning
Patrick Mahomes' long time trainer, Bobby Stroupe, spoke to Men's Journal in 2023 about the star player's 'superstitious' warm up plan.

According to Bobby Stroupe, 'Patrick is a really superstitious guy, and he does the same warmup routine every time.'
Apparently, this starts with upper body stretches and then the star player moves on to working on his arms and this is where Patrick Mahomes gets creative.
Bobby Stroupe adds, 'There are a series of different swings…You'll see him doing skips, backwards running, and jumps. Then he's going to shoot the football like a basketball, doing some fadeaways and jump shots, which I assure you is not something I wrote up.'
The 'need' to win
Patrick Mahomes has always kept his focus on winning whatever he puts his mind to. As per his trainer, it seems, even when the training is gamified, Patrick Mahomes feels the 'need' to win the game and eventually, the Super Bowl.
The strict work ethic that Patrick Mahomes believes in
In 2018, Patrick Mahomes spoke to Men's Journal about following a 'strict' work ethic; something that he learnt from his father, a former Major League Baseball star player.
According to Patrick Mahomes, one has to 'grind every day' and 'prepare throughout the week' even if you're playing just one match at the end of the week.
Staying in shape for his family
In 2021, Patrick Mahomes had spoken to NBC about how a lot of his healthy habits are dedicated to be a good parent to his children.
The Kansas City Chiefs' star player wakes up early in the morning every day to get done with his training and workouts so that he can take time out to be a "dad" for his three children.
The planned meals that help keep Patrick Mahomes focused
Patrick Mahomes has spoken about how he does not prefer to eat a lot at one time, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Kansas City Chiefs' star player focuses on consuming four to five meals a day and spreading out his dinner, to keep his focus on nutrition and healthy eating habits.
With the upcoming season being just a few weeks away now, fans are hoping for a successful this season and a lot of them are dependent on Patrick Mahomes' skills and talent.

Gunman who killed 4 in Manhattan office was targeting the NFL, but took wrong lift: What we know so far

A gunman who claimed the NFL was responsible for his brain injury opened fire inside a Midtown Manhattan office tower on Monday evening, trying to target the American football league, but instead killed four people before shooting himself, according to the New York Police Department. He was trying to reach the NFL office but went to a different part of the building after taking the wrong lift. The attacker, identified as Shane Tamura, 27, from Nevada, left behind a note referencing chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) a degenerative brain condition linked to repeated head trauma in contact sports. Though he never played professionally, he blamed the league for cutting his football career short. The shooting unfolded inside 345 Park Avenue, a building that houses major organisations including the NFL, Blackstone, and KPMG. Tamura entered the building shortly after 6:30 pm with an M4-style semi-automatic rifle. He killed three people in the lobby, including a police officer, then moved to the 33rd floor, where he killed a fourth victim before taking his own life. He was looking to enter the NFL office but went inside a different one, BBC reported. Staff sheltered in place as emergency services and federal agencies responded. Some employees used furniture to barricade doors, while others were escorted out by police after 10:00 pm. One of the victims was Officer Didarul Islam, 36, who had worked with the NYPD for three years. According to Mayor Eric Adams, he was originally from Bangladesh and had been assigned to security at the building. As a mark of respect for the memory of NYPD Officer Didarul Islam who died in the line of duty and the multiple victims of the mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan at 345 Park Avenue yesterday, I've ordered all flags on all city buildings and stationary flagstaffs throughout the… — Mayor Eric Adams (@NYCMayor) July 29, 2025 Another victim was Wesley LePatner, a senior managing director at Blackstone. The company confirmed her death in a statement shared with Reuters, saying: 'We are heartbroken to share that our colleague, Wesley LePatner, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue.' Blackstone described her as 'brilliant, passionate, and deeply respected.' She had worked at the firm since 2014 and led its real estate investment business. The names of the two other victims, a man and a woman, have not yet been released. Another person was seriously injured and remains in hospital, Mayor Adams said. Tamura travelled to New York from Las Vegas in the days leading up to the shooting. According to police, a note found in his possession said he believed he suffered from CTE and blamed the NFL for it. Mayor Adams told CBS News: 'He felt he had CTE, a known brain injury for those who participate in contact sports. He appeared to have blamed the NFL.' Tamura had played high school football but never went professional. A memo found in his wallet said his football career was cut short due to brain trauma, according to AP. The NYPD, emergency services, and federal agencies arrived quickly at the scene. Staff working in the building sheltered in place until police evacuated them later that night. Others were escorted out by police after 10:00 p.m. A second firearm a revolver was recovered from Tamura's parked vehicle outside the building, along with medication and a backpack, the Police Commissioner said. Blackstone closed its New York office on Tuesday and held a staff-wide Zoom meeting, according to employees who spoke to Reuters. Senior executives at the firm called Monday the 'worst day in the firm's 40-year history.' KPMG, which also has offices in the building, closed for the day. Staff from Loeb & Loeb, a law firm located on the 18th to 22nd floors, were allowed to work from home. The NFL confirmed that one of its employees was injured and is in stable condition. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told staff there would be increased security at the league's headquarters in the coming weeks, AP reported. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage, Tamura's travel records, and his mental health history. According to New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, Tamura appeared to act alone. The NYPD is also reviewing how the gunman entered the building, and whether tighter security is needed in similar office towers. The FBI's New York Field Office said its agents are assisting with the investigation. Mayor Adams and city officials urged residents to stay away from the Park Avenue area while investigations continue. (With inputs from agencies)

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers hurt during practice just days after full camp return

Malik Nabers, the standout wide receiver for the New York Giants, exited practice on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 with an apparent shoulder issue. He looked hurt during one of the team's run‑play drills at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Malik Nabers, who walked off under his own power before walking back inside with head athletic trainer Ronnie Barnes, did not return to practice. This raised concern because he is already managing a persistent toe injury that originated in college. The timing is unsettling: Malik Nabers is crucial to the New York Giants' on‑field plans as they prepare for the new NFL season. What exactly happened to Malik Nabers' shoulder and who witnessed the incident on the field During the 11‑on‑11 team session on Tuesday morning, July 29 at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, Malik Nabers was blocking on a run play when he went to the ground and appeared to grab at his right shoulder. He lay briefly on the field, then stood up and left the field with the head trainer Ronnie Barnes walking alongside him. That move captured the attention of reporters on site including Jordan Raanan, who noted Nabers had been 'banged up on a run play… grabbed at his shoulder as he walked off'. Head coach Brian Daboll was informed by Barnes, and Nabers did not return to the field for the rest of practice. Toe issue adds to injury concerns for Giants' top rookie Malik Nabers Malik Nabers is coming off a record-setting rookie season in 2024, when he caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl honors and setting both Giants and NFL rookie receiving marks. Entering the 2025 season, he was recovering from a lingering toe injury that sidelined him during OTAs but allowed full participation in camp starting July 23, according to coach Brian Daboll. Now, this new shoulder scare adds a fresh concern. Malik Nabers reportedly had previous shoulder issues in college, though he played through them without missing time. With the Giants' Week 1 opener not until September 7, there is time to assess, but any setback with their top receiver would be unwelcome. On Monday, July 28, Nabers spoke about his toe issue (originating during his LSU days):Now, as of Tuesday, July 29, he adds a shoulder injury to that ongoing concern, one to monitor closely as training camp continues. What is CTE? All about brain disease New York Shooting gunman Shane Tamura claimed he was suffering from

The 27-year-old suspected gunman behind the deadly shooting at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan reportedly left behind a multi-page suicide note pointing to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) as a key factor in his actions. Shane D. Tamura, a former athlete, shot and killed four people — including a New York police officer — before turning the gun on himself on the 33rd floor of the 44-storey skyscraper on Monday. The building also houses the headquarters of the National Football League (NFL), which authorities believe Tamura deliberately targeted. According to the New York Post, the note refers to his mental health struggles and links them to his past involvement in football. He reportedly blamed the sport for causing his CTE, a brain disease associated with repeated head injuries. The note, cited by CNN, read: 'Football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze. You can't go against the NFL; they'll squash you.' Tamura also requested that his brain be studied after death, referencing former Pittsburgh Steelers player Terry Long, who also suffered from CTE and died by suicide in 2006. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive brain condition believed to result from repeated blows to the head. Early symptoms may be mild or go unnoticed, often including depression, aggression, mood swings, and personality changes. As the disease progresses, people may experience confusion, memory loss, and difficulty with planning or decision-making. In advanced cases, movement problems can also develop. CTE has been most commonly observed in athletes involved in contact sports such as American football, boxing, and hockey, as well as military veterans exposed to blast injuries. The condition typically develops years after repeated head trauma and worsens over time. Tamura, 27, has been identified as the prime suspect in the Manhattan shooting that claimed the lives of four people, including NYPD officer Didarul Islam, and left one person injured. Authorities confirmed that Tamura died by suicide following the attack.
