Vegan activist begs for £14,000 to reclaim her passport so she can travel to UK protest

Daily Mirrora day ago
Tash Peterson and her boyfriend Jack Higgs are pleading for people to donate £14,000 to pay their bankruptcy trustees to leave the country and protest in Herefordshire
A vegan activist, who went bankrupt after a court found she had defamed a vet, is now trying to raise money so she can leave Australia to go to the "world's biggest vegan camp out" in the UK.

Tash Peterson and her boyfriend Jack Higgs had their passports taken from them when they filed for bankruptcy back in May when they were ordered to pay £134,000 (AUD280,000) in damages. They had been found to have published defamatory claims that a Perth vet was "eating her own patients", with Ms Peterson also claiming the court battle left her personal accounts "wiped", news.com.au reports.

The controversial couple have now returned to social media this week where they have urged their supporters to donate to a GoFundMe page they have set up to help pay $30,000 ordered by their bankruptcy trustees, with claiming it was to "prevent" them leaving the country. In a video posted on their channels, Peterson said: "Because of this, we are trying to raise funds so that I can give my speech at the Vegan Camp Out."

'The only purpose of our trip is to speak up for non-human animals. Not to run away. We only have one week to raise the $30,000 [£14,000]'.
The GoFundMe is being ran by Peterson's mum, Sally, with the page urging people to put their hands in their pockets. On the page, it said: "Contributing to this bond will support their case for travel, and under special conditions such as they return to Australia and give their passports back, the bond will be returned.
"If the funds are returned, all donations will be directed to the Farm Transparency Project, supporting ongoing animal rights activism."
Since the GoFundMe went live this week, the couple took to Instagram where they defended their decision to set up the fundraiser and addressed concerns. Higgs further said they were "not pressuring anyone" to donate to the fundraiser, with people free to donate if they wish.
Peterson is listed as a speaker at the event in Hertfordshire, and addressing why they simply cannot conduct their speech to the crowd, Higgs continued to say "live streaming cannot replace being in person" due to them networking at the event.

Peterson also explained they cannot be certain the money will be donated to charity following their two month trip to the UK.
At the time of writing, the couple have already amassed almost $3,458 towards their "business trip" to the two month protest.
Peterson and Higgs have a unique relationship, as the doting boyfriend has no problem with his partner stripping off in public and insists it's all for a good cause. He even helps Peterson apply body paint before her raunchy protests and films her message-spreading videos on an adult website.
Speaking to Australian media outlet The Project in 2022, Tash said: "I use my body to raise awareness for those who have no bodily autonomy, whether it be topless or close to being nude and I think it works brilliantly to raise awareness for animals."
Tash said that her work helps her spread her message further, and also boosts her income so she can focus more fully on animal rights activism.

Despite their baby heartbreak, the couple - who got together in 2023 and became engaged in September last year - welcomed son Leo in January this year. What is miscarriage and why do pregnancies fail? MISCARRIAGE is generally the death of an unborn baby in the first 24 weeks – approximately six months – of pregnancy. Miscarriages may not be spoken about a lot but they are very common. Baby loss charity Tommy's estimates there are at least 250,000 per year in the UK and that one in every five pregnancies ends in miscarriage. It may not be clear why a miscarriage happens but they are rarely caused by anything done by the mother or father. Usually the embryo has a random genetic defect that means it cannot develop properly. Most women can go on to successfully have healthy babies in the future. The NHS says most miscarriages cannot be prevented but avoiding smoking, alcohol and drugs while pregnant can reduce the risk. Some of the other most common reasons for a pregnancy to fail in the first 24 weeks are ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is where a fertilised egg implants somewhere outside of the womb, usually in a fallopian tube. It cannot survive and grow there so either dies naturally or must be terminated. Molar pregnancy is rarer but happens when a fertilised egg and/or placenta does not develop properly at the start of a pregnancy. There is no single reason why it happens and cannot be prevented, though it may be more common in very young or old mothers. A baby who dies after 24 weeks is considered a stillbirth. ITV Coronation Street icon 'lined up' for I'm A Celebrity 2025 stint after quitting soap

A Coronation Street star could be going on a brand new adventure after leaving their beloved soap role behind A popular Coronation Street actor is rumoured to be joining the line-up for this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! ‌ Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi Alahan, has been a fixture on the cobbles since his debut in 2006, alongside his twin sister Asha (Tanisha Gorey). ‌ Originally portrayed by Zennon Ditchett, Adam took over the role in 2020 - and it's safe to say Aadi's been embroiled in some serious drama. Particularly recently, as he inadvertently spiked Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) at a party last month. ‌ In an attempt to resolve financial problems arising from managing his father Dev's (Jimmi Harkishin) business, Aadi staged a fake robbery. When Dev discovered the truth, he was furious and demanded that Aadi leave the cobbles to live in India. Recognising it's time for a fresh start, Aadi agrees and decides to depart the cobbles, reports the Daily Star. Fans have been bracing for Aadi's exit since April, when actor Adam Hussain announced his departure from the ITV soap. ‌ On Instagram, he posted: "Over the five years I've spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little." Now, Adam is being tipped for a spot on a major reality show. Bookmakers Betway are confident he will enter the I'm A Celebrity jungle later this year, with spokesperson Mike Reading stating: "Adam Hussain looks set for a brand new adventure beyond Coronation Street." ‌ He elaborated: "With the I'm A Celeb lineup still firmly under wraps, we have priced him up at 7/1 to swap the Rovers Return for bugs, rice, and beans." There's also a chance that Adam could make an appearance on a competing soap, with bookmakers offering odds of 12/1 and 6/1 for him to appear on Hollyoaks and EastEnders respectively.

One Direction star returns to stage 10 months after bandmate Liam Payne's death

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Niall Horan made a triumphant return to the stage this weekend, much to the surprise of fans—especially since it wasn't even his gig. The Irish pop star and boyband heartthrob hasn't performed live in 10 months, having wrapped up his The Show world tour in Bogota, Colombia, last autumn before embarking on a hiatus. That same month, Niall and his One Direction bandmates – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik – were left heartbroken when Liam Payne died at the tender age of 31. Niall had spent time with Payne just weeks earlier when the Strip That Down hitmaker attended his concert in Argentina, not long before his fatal fall from a hotel balcony on October 16. Having taken some time away from the music scene following his late friend's funeral, Niall, 31, came back with a bang last night, stepping out onto a stage he's performed countless times: London's O2 Arena. He was a special guest for long-time friend and fellow music superstar Shawn Mendes, 27, who brought his On The Road Again tour to the capital. Celebrating hits from his decade in the industry, the Grammy-nominated Canadian songwriter was met with deafening screams upon introducing Niall to the crowd. Teasing Niall's arrival, Shawn began on the mic: 'I met this fella years and years ago; I was probably 16 or 17. 'I came into this industry, and I was terrified of everything and everyone. We talk a lot of s**t, but this man has been an older brother to me.' He declared sweetly: 'I love him with all my heart. Please welcome Niall Horan.' Naturally, the packed venue went wild, as footage later shared to Shawn's Instagram captured. Fans immediately burst into tears, jumped up and down, and shook their heads in disbelief as the Slow Hands vocalist made his way out, guitar in hand, of course. 'I'll remember this for a long time ❤️ Thank you so much London x', Shawn's caption read, with Niall commenting a red heart also. Together, they performed Niall's debut solo single, This Town, which was released after 1D's sabbatical began in 2016. Thanking the crowd before leaving the stage, Niall professed his love for Shawn and said: 'Take care, everyone.' As the video of the wholesome moment began doing the rounds online, fans were quick to express their excitement and plead with the celebrity pals for a proper collaboration. 'Best duo ever 🤍. We need a collab please? ❤️🙏', @niallxupdates_ commented on Instagram. 'OMG! Niall and Shawn together 😍🔥 So beautiful!', wrote @rashelhemmings. 'I didn't even realize how much I missed his voice. 💖', added Niall fan @_fatbirdsinging. @xoanyushka joked: 'i had the most normal reaction to this (i screamed)'. This is not the first time Niall and Shawn have duetted as, during Niall's lat tour, Shawn made a surprise appearance for a joint rendition of his hit Treat You Better. Meanwhile, today, Niall supporters further shared their pride at seeing him back where he belongs following his loss. Following Payne's shocking death, his bandmates all released devastating statements in tribute, with Niall taking to social media to say what had happened didn't 'feel real'. 'Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious,' he wrote. 'He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure. 'All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever. 'The bond and friendship we had doesn't happen often in a lifetime.' Niall went on to send his condolences to Payne's young son, Bear, whom he shared with pop star Cheryl, and the star's family. 'I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently,' he concluded. 'I sadly didn't know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It's heartbreaking.' More Trending Niall sweetly signed off: 'Thank you for everything, Payno.' As well as his parents and two sisters, Payne is survived by his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. The circumstances surrounding his death have been investigated intently by police in recent months, resulting in five individuals being arrested in connection, among whom were a friend of Payne, the hotel manager, two employees, and a waiter. After months of proceedings, the latest is that three have been acquitted and two remain under suspicion. Got a story?
