DJ C-Live Introduces Zen, a new chapter in sound, culture and soul

DJ C-Live is charting a new course and he's doing it with intention. The hip-hop radio pioneer, cultural curator and sonic storyteller has officially introduced Zen, a creative alias grounded in his middle name, Zenzele. The event will kick off on August 1 at Laparada in Melrose Arch, and will feature artists Mobi Dixon, Naked DJ, Zen, Uncool Angels and more. 'This alias isn't about leaving something behind,' says Zen. 'Zen has always been lurking in the background. It's about realignment. It's about returning to what truly resonates — sound, story, soul and self.' While DJ C-Live stands tall as a champion of hip-hop and urban culture, from his work on YFM and 5FM to TV stints on Voov TV, Club 808, and Channel O's The Mix Up, Zen will open up a deeper, more spiritual lane. With the new identity, Zen steps into the role of creative director, experience curator and movement builder. He aims to craft immersive projects that blend design, Afrocentric rhythm and soul Zen's official unveiling on August 1 marks the beginning of a new creative era.

Tzaneen's Manani Botes makes Mrs South Africa top 30

LIMPOPO – Manani Botes from Tzaneen has been named one of the top 30 finalists in the Mrs South Africa competition. The announcement was made last week at Hotel Sky in Sandton, Johannesburg. A popular Jacaranda FM radio presenter, Botes describes the achievement as 'amazing' and dedicates it to women who have given up on their dreams and those working to create change in their communities. Last year, Botes progressed to the top 100 in the competition. The journey to the top 30 began during the semi-finals week from July 2-4. Over three intense days, semi-finalists participated in leadership roundtables, mentorship sessions, interviews, and a live showcase at the Theatre of Marcellus. The following days, July 5-6, included workshops on media relations, business, and social responsibility, along with a professional photo and video shoot to build their personal brands. 'This programme has been a life-changing journey of growth, self-discovery, and sisterhood,' said Botes. 'It pushed me beyond my comfort zone and reminded me of the strength I carry as a woman, a mother, and a leader. I've learned to embrace my story, use my voice with purpose, and stand confidently in who I am.' Looking ahead, Botes will host the 'Paws with Purpose' charity event to raise funds for the South African Animal Cancer Association (SAACA), one of Mrs South Africa's official charities. 'Animals don't have a voice, but we do. Supporting this cause means standing up for the vulnerable and creating a kinder world, one paw at a time,' she said. 'As a mother and community leader, I believe teaching compassion starts with how we treat all living beings.' Originally from Giyani, Botes grew up in Modjadjiskloof and attended Modubatse Secondary School. She is married to Charlton Botes and has a son, Nathan. Her career shifted from luxury car sales to radio after winning a presenter search at Jacaranda FM. Since then, she has become a prominent voice, inspiring many with her story. The Tzaneen beauty will compete at Emperor's Palace in November, with preliminaries on November 13 and the crowning ceremony on November 14. Jacaranda FM's 'Good Morning Angels' celebrates two decades of changing lives

Jacaranda FM's community upliftment initiative, Good Morning Angels. is celebrating two decades of changing lives across South Africa. . Good Morning Angels, which since 2005 has delivered hope, healing and generosity to countless people, can be heard every Wednesday morning on Jacaranda FM's Breakfast With Martin Bester. The radio station says the success of Good Morning Angels is 'intrinsically linked to the incredible compassion of the Jacaranda FM listeners and the unwavering support of corporates. These 'angels' consistently step up, donating through impactful fundraisers like the annual Good Morning Angels Golf Day, which famously raised more than R4.85m in 2024 alone, or donating throughout the year to assist those whose stories have resonated with them.' ' Good Morning Angels is more than a feature; it's the beating heart of Jacaranda FM and a true reflection of the power of radio to unite for good,' says Vuyani Dombo, the station's MD. 'Reaching 20 years is a testament to the unwavering generosity of our listeners and corporate partners. Their consistent support has allowed us to deliver life-changing interventions, from critical medical assistance and educational opportunities to rebuilding homes and supporting vulnerable communities. We are immensely proud of every life touched and every story of hope we've been privileged to share.' 'Every Wednesday, and now every Monday morning with our 20-year legacy celebration, Good Morning Angels reminds us of the profound impact that collective kindness can have,' adds Bester. 'To see the ripple effect of our listeners' generosity, and to witness the incredible resilience of the people we've been able to help, is truly humbling.'
