Nick Cannon slammed for dismissing the term ‘co-parenting': ‘What else would you call it?'

For most parents, co-parenting isn't a buzzword. It's survival. However, for Nick Cannon, father of 12 children, it's not even a thing. He doesn't believe in the term at all. Advertisement On a recent episode of his podcast, Nick Cannon @ Night, he answered a fan's question about how he manages multiple co-parenting relationships while dating. Labels aren't the problem, Nick The star shares his children with six women: Monroe and Moroccan with Mariah Carey, Golden, Powerful, and Rise with Brittany Bell, Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa, Legendary with Bre Tiesi, Onyx with LaNisha Cole, and Halo and Zen with Alyssa Scott. 5 On a recent episode of his podcast, Nick Cannon said his is not a fan of the term co-parenting. Getty Images for BET 'Curious to hear Nick's perspective on managing multiple co-parenting relationships while dating. It's a unique situation that could offer some real insights for blended families,' the listener wrote. Advertisement Cannon's response? He's 'always kind of had an issue' with the term co-parenting. He believes we should just call it 'parenting.' 'When you start throwing labels on things, I think it does more harm than help and can get very dangerous, because then everybody else has a preconceived notion of what you're doing,' he explained. 5 'When you start throwing labels on things, I think it does more harm than help and can get very dangerous,' the dad of 12 said. nickcannon/Instagram 'I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't gotten it all the way right. But… if I just step into every situation with respect and compassion and individuality… that's the other thing I always do with anyone I'm involved with in my life.' Advertisement Easy for him to say. Just last month, the guy with a self-proclaimed 'king complex' forgot the names of two of his children when asked if he'd consider having more. 5 'I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't gotten it all the way right,' Cannon said, who previously forgot the names of his twins. Instagram/nickcannon On 'The Really Good Podcast' with Bobbi Althoff, he rattled off ten, paused mid-roll, then floundered, eventually recalling the final two only with prompting. Advertisement Cannon's version of 'parenting' seems to come with private jets, a full staff, and a scheduling system that would put NASA's mission control to shame. For everyone else, co-parenting is a carefully balanced act involving court orders, Google Calendars, and awkward handovers in car parks. Co-parenting isn't a toxic label. 'Isn't that what he's doing with his football team of kids?' The internet agrees, with many slamming his take as out of touch on Instagram. 'Clearly, he doesn't believe in anything that starts with 'co.' Co-parenting, commitment, common sense, constant presence and condoms,' wrote one commenter. 5 'Clearly, he doesn't believe in anything that starts with 'co.' Co-parenting, commitment, common sense, constant presence and condoms,' a commenter said. Instagram 'But isn't that what he's doing with his football team of kids? What else would you call it,' another argued. Advertisement A third added: 'Well… when you forget your children's names… I believe the term is No-Parenting, right?' Here's the thing. Calling it co-parenting gives people a term they can Google at 2am when they're desperate for advice. It connects them to books, podcasts, court guidelines, and communities of people navigating the same terrain. 5 'Well… when you forget your children's names… I believe the term is No-Parenting, right?' another person said. Getty Images Advertisement For most, co-parenting is splitting Christmas mornings, negotiating over who gets the kid's soccer final, and texting through gritted teeth about missing school hats. It's working with, not against, your child's other parent to make life as seamless as possible. I asked the Kidspot team for their thoughts. Leah could understand what he was putting down. 'I wouldn't have thought it that way, but I see where he's going,' she said. Advertisement However, she jokingly warns, 'anyone dating him should expect to have ten children.' Cassidy is clear about the coparenting vs parenting label. 'As someone who is not a parent, I have no legitimate thoughts other than I fear he is doing neither,' she said. Advertisement The reality is, he can reject the label if he wants, but for millions of parents, co-parenting isn't a label. It's the glue holding their family together.

The Traitors Announces All-Civilian Version to Air on NBC — Apply Now!

The Traitors fans, now's your chance to do a little backstabbing of your own. NBC will air an all-civilian version of the hit reality competition, TVLine has learned. Typically, The Traitors — which airs on streamer Peacock — features celebrities competing for the cash prize, but this time, ordinary fans will play the game, with Alan Cumming returning as host. (Other international versions of The Traitors, including the UK and Australia, feature everyday people as contestants.) More from TVLine Casting News: St. Denis Medical Pages Ariana Madix, Boyd Holbrook Joins Extraction and More Exiting Chicago Fire Star Daniel Kyri Says Emotional Goodbye to His Character Darren Ritter: 'You Made History' Jon Miyahara, Superstore's Silent Scene Stealer, Dead at 83 Filming on the NBC version will get underway next year; those interested in applying to be a contestant can do so at 'We are looking for smart, strategic everyday people to compete in the ultimate game of trust & treachery,' the website says, with a chance to win up to $250,000. 'We're excited to bring along The Traitors' highly addictive fan base as we discover the next generation of legendary gamers and schemers,' NBCUniversal Entertainment executive vice president of unscripted programming Sharon Vuong said in a statement. 'With our resident host and gameplay master of ceremonies, Alan Cumming, on board to introduce complete strangers to new epic missions and twisted gameplay, this new version for NBC offers a unique opportunity for the cast and audience to meet each other for the first time and we know it will be incredible to watch.' For those uninitiated, The Traitors brings its players to a remote Scottish castle, where a small number of them are secretly designated 'traitors,' tasked with 'murdering,' or eliminating from the game, one of their fellow players each night. But the other players, dubbed the 'faithful,' can get rid of the traitors by voting out one of their own each night at the round table. At the end of the game, if the faithful get rid of all the traitors, they split the cash prize — but if even one traitor remains, they take home all the money. Debuting in the Netherlands in 2021, The Traitors has spawned more than 30 (!) international editions, with the U.S. version bowing on Peacock in 2023. The first season mixed reality TV celebrities like Survivor alum Cirie Fields with everyday people, but the subsequent two seasons have been all celebrities. The show has become a runaway hit for Peacock, winning the Emmy last year for best reality competition. Season 4 of The Traitors is expected to air on Peacock early next year — with a cast including former Real Housewife Lisa Rinna, actor Michael Rapaport and football mom Donna Kelce — and the show has already been renewed for a fifth season.
