Launched by publishing house Candy Jar Books, Outside the Box: The Complete Doctor Who Art of Jeff Cummins, is a new title celebrating the legacy of the Flintshire-based artist - timed perfectly ahead of a major Doctor Who exhibition this summer.
Jeff has been a leading figure in British sci-fi and pop culture illustration for decades, producing artwork for Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, and most famously, Doctor Who. This new volume focuses exclusively on his contributions to the Doctor Who universe, bringing together his iconic Target novel covers, personal commissions, rare early pieces and never-before-seen artwork.

The book includes:
• Jeff's celebrated Target novel covers and work from the Doctor Who Discovers series.
• A detailed look at the unreleased Target calendar project.
• New illustrations of Doctors old and new - including portraits of Colin Baker, David Bradley, Tom Baker, and more.
• A new comic strip chronicling Jeff's life as an artist.
• Private commissions, early works, and Jeff's latest Dalek painting - connecting his childhood in Wales to his present-day artistry.

Jeff's work will also be celebrated in a dedicated exhibition, Right Between the Eyes!, opening in June at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery as part of Adventures in Time & Space, one of the largest Doctor Who exhibitions seen in over a decade. Running until November, the exhibition will showcase iconic props, costumes, set pieces, and Jeff's original artwork - with signed copies of Outside the Box available in the museum gift shop.
Sarah Wilson, heritage manager at Peterborough Museum, said: "Jeff's artwork is a vital part of Doctor Who's visual history. His distinctive style helped define an era for fans around the world."
Outside the Box is being distributed by the Books Council of Wales, ensuring it will be available in all good bookshops across Wales, including local independents and online retailers.

The Forsytes is expected to be Richard Rankin's first new role since wrapping up the time-travel historical drama Outlander is set to conclude with its eighth series, and the renowned cast are already securing their future roles. Richard Rankin, known for his role as Roger MacKenzie in all but the first series of the successful Starz show, has recently signed on to a much-anticipated adaptation of a cherished classic. ‌ Ahead of the premiere of the first series, 5 and Masterpiece have confirmed this week that a second series of Debbie Horsfield's The Forsytes is already underway. ‌ Featuring Millie Gibson, famed for Doctor Who, and Downton Abbey's Tuppence Middleton, this reinterpretation of John Galsworthy's classic book series The Forsyte Saga will premiere on 5 later this year. American viewers will be able to watch next year on MASTERPIECE on PBS, with a second series already being filmed in and around Bristol, reports the Scottish Daily Express. Rankin is the latest television veteran to join the cast for the sequel, alongside Jonathan Creek's Sarah Alexander and Nia Ashi, the rising star from Bob Marley: One Love. Returning cast members include Middleton and Gibson, as well as Eleanor Tomlinson, Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport, Tom Durant Prichard, Naomi Frederick, Jamie Flatters, Danny Griffin, Owen Igiehon, Eleanor Jackson, Justine Moore, Stephen Moyer and Joshua Orpin. Susan Hampshire, an Emmy Award-winning actress who starred in the classic BBC version of the drama from the 1960s, will also feature. ‌ Outlander sensation Rankin is all set to dazzle audiences with his first major project since bidding farewell to the hit series, as it gears up for what's promised to be an electrifying eighth and final season next year. The up-and-coming second instalment of The Forsytes teases: "In this next chapter the proud dynasty faces a new era of scandal, ambition, and shifting loyalties. "As love, legacy and reputation collide, the cracks in the family's polished façade grow ever deeper." ‌ Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor of Drama at Channel 5, shared his excitement: "We are excited to announce that production has begun on the second series of The Forsytes. ‌ "With the first series set to air soon, this early commitment to a second chapter is a testament to the strength of the stories and characters that we know our audience will embrace. We look forward to sharing even more of this rich and compelling series." Mammoth Screen's CCO Damien Timmer added: "We can't wait for the world to see series 1 of The Forsytes, and we're so pleased to be getting ahead of ourselves and starting on this thrilling second series with Debbie Horsfield's irresistible scripts and our glorious – and ever expanding - cast." The Forsyte Saga, once turned into a 2002 and 2003 television hit featuring Gina McKee and Damian Lewis, is undergoing a modern makeover, promising ITV audiences another period drama phenomenon. Ratings and reviews from IMDb already laud the series as "engrossing" and "flawless", hinting at a forthcoming spectacle bound to captivate period drama aficionados. The Forsytes season 1 will be released later this year on 5 and in 2026 on MASTERPIECE on PBS. Outlander is available to stream on MGM+ via Prime Video.

Simon Cowell admits big worry about son Eric and says he's 'petrified' of one thing

Simon Cowell has opened up about being a father and how precious his 11-year-old son Eric is to him in a rare interview with Jeff Brazier. Simon Cowell has candidly discussed fatherhood in an interview with This Morning's Jeff Brazier. During the touching interview ahead of Father's Day this weekend, the 65-year-old spoke about how becoming a dad changed him while also voicing his concerns for his 11-year-old son. ‌ Simon welcomed his only child Eric in February 2014 with partner Lauren Silverman. The music mogul mostly keeps his family life private but Britain's Got Talent fans were treated to an unexpected onscreen appearance of Erin during an epic Golden Buzzer moment during the latest series of the show where Simon let his son press the famous buzzer. ‌ During the 2024 series, he also revealed his son was a keen drummer and now he has shared even more rare information about his boy. Speaking to father of two Jeff, Simon shared how much his son means to him. He said: "Honestly, everything. Out of everything I've ever done in my life, this is the best thing to ever happen to me. The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed." However, Simon confessed there were some down sides to parenthood as he shared his concerns for his son growing up in the modern world, the Mirror reports. He said: 'We're getting to a point where the word phone comes up. 'Oh god, here we go". ‌ The 65-year-old previously revealed he doesn't have his own personal mobile phone device. He continued: 'I'm very worried Jeff, about how much kids can see at a certain age. I grew up…Which was learning things at the right time, the right age, etcetera etcetera. I just would be petrified of him having access to anything, that would really worry me. ‌ 'I think schools put too much pressure on kids, which is, you're getting up at seven in the morning, you're coming home say at five, six in the afternoon, evening and then you've got to do two hours of homework. "It's like, they're ten, eleven, twelve years old. It's too much. I would say to any teacher watching, ban homework, you'll have happier kids and they'll do better.' Despite his demeanour softening over the years, Simon has made a name for being the mean judge, starting from his stint in 2001 on Pop Idol. ‌ When asked by Jeff what he'd do if his son wanted to get into the entertainment industry, Simon insisted he would be "absolutely honest" with him. He laughed: 'I've thought about this. What if he said to me, 'I want to be a singer' and he couldn't sing, I would be absolutely honest with him. If he couldn't, I would say, 'You know what, be a drummer'. "He actually can play the drums well but he's quite shy. You know, I walk and I hear him, and he stops. I say, 'Why are you stopping?' and he says, 'Well, I'm a bit embarrassed' and I say, 'Well don't be, you're really good.'
