M&S's £10 perfumes are back with two new scents being called ‘summer in a bottle'

Daily Mirror11 hours ago
Marks & Spencer's scents are somewhat hidden gems in the fragrance world, often compared to pricier perfumes, and the high street store's latest launches are perfect for summer
Finding affordable – and high quality – perfumes isn't always an easy task, but beauty fans have something of an industry secret that ticks both of these boxes: M&S's own-brand fragrances.
Marks & Spencer's Discover range of scents has been quietly impressing fragrance snobs for a few years now, going viral on social media and often selling out due to their excellent price (100ml bottles are £10) and lust-worthy scents that are regularly compared to pricier designer offerings.
Now the high street hero has just dropped two new Discover eau de toilettes that are perfect for summer – and you're going to want to snap them up before they're gone.
New to M&S stores and online are Garden Party Eau de Toilette and Summer Blooms Eau de Toilette, both priced at £10 for generous 100ml bottles. Inspired by sun-soaked evenings outside with loved ones, Garden Party describes how 'a shimmering blend of melon, red berry and marine notes opens the fragrance with a refreshing burst, gently settling into a heart of ylang ylang, lily, and intoxicating gardenia'.
Garden Party's base notes are vanilla, meringue, patchouli and soft musk, evoking 'the golden glow of twilight and the sweetness of summer air'.
Summer Blooms, meanwhile, is a warmer, more tropical concoction of dewberry, coconut and orange with heart notes of magnolia and jasmine. The base is one of creamy coconut, musk and patchouli, which M&S says, creates a 'lingering, sun-kissed finish' that's 'summer, bottled'.
There's something for all fragrance tastes to be found in the M&S beauty aisles though, from Discover's trending Sweet Pistachio to cosy Spiced Wood – and all £10.
After another fragrance bargain? Sol de Janeiro has launched what's being touted as its 'best yet' perfume, which perfume lovers are saying is the ideal scent for this week's heatwave – and there's a savvy way to snap it up for less. The latest fragrance, Sundays in Rio, usually priced at £24, is a fresh addition to the popular brand's range.
The fragrance opens with notes of pink pepper, pear and ambrette absolute, then unfolds into a heart of cosy vanilla, orris concrete (which imparts violet-like notes) and 'Champaca pure jungle essence' – a powdery white floral with rich honeyed undertones. Its base is built on amber musk and woody upcycled orcanox.
However, TopCashback members can bag the new aroma at a wallet-friendly £8 after cashback for newcomers to Sephora, and £8.60 after cashback for existing Sephora shoppers.

Killer John left reeling in Emmerdale as new Nate evidence comes to light

John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is in for a shock when it's revealed that Nate's death in Emmerdale is not all wrapped up in a bow as he thought – there's some damning evidence floating around that could yet bring him to justice. This is not good news and could mean all the hard work he put in framing dead man Owen for the murder was all for nothing. He's even managed to get Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) off his back after he came dangerously close to discovering the truth. Robert figured out that Owen had an alibi and that John had been to his house the day before he was found dead. But John carefully orchestrated things to discredit Robert in both the villagers' eyes and sister Vic's (Isabel Hodgins) both by portraying him as a scorned ex, and a threat to nephew Harry's safety. Now John just has to worry about the fact that actual, credible evidence is about to come to light. DC Cole puts Cain (Jeff Hordley) on edge when he's told they need to discuss Nate's murder. There is new evidence, which they need to discuss. Cain relays this to John, who is immediately struck with a sense of impending doom. It opens wounds for Cain and Tracy (Amy Walsh), who thought they could put the nature of Nate's death to bed and begin to work through their loss. But a fresh round of questioning reignites the pain. The elusive removal man is finally tracked down and suspicions are raised when Tracy shows him a photo and he doesn't recognise the man – Nate – who supposedly hired him. More Trending The police question him and he confirms it was in fact Owen who paid for his service. Of course, John has got involved here – it appears he has paid the man off. But for all intents and purposes for everyone else, they have their man. John is relieved to hear they've all bought it and even Robert becomes contrite about what he's got wrong. But all is not ok for John. He might think he's in the clear, but Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) stumbles across something just as damning that could unravel everything. Emmerdale's Mack actor Lawrence Robb speaks out as character 'killed off'

Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd actor Lawrence Robb has addressed his upcoming storyline, speaking out for the first time since reports he was being killed off on the ITV soap Mackenzie Boyd actor Lawrence Robb has addressed his next big Emmerdale storyline that will reportedly lead to his exit. Speaking for the first time since the reports emerged, Lawrence promised big scenes ahead. ‌ The actor did not comment on whether Mack would be killed or not, or the rumours surrounding a potential departure. The interview was held before the reports were shared, while Mack actor Lawrence did drop some major hints. ‌ It comes after it was claimed that Mack will die at the hands of killer John Sugden after he unearths his dark secret. Now, new spoilers for next week appear to back this, when it's said Mack makes a discovery that could change everything. ‌ The clue simply reads: "Mack discovers a clue, what has Mack found?" It's very vague but the spoilers in full appear to allude that it's linked to John, and Lawrence has now confirmed this. Asked about what he discovers and what it means, the star confessed it would lead to the moment Mack finally realises he's been right about John all along. He then teased it will land him in serious danger, with "bleak" scenes ahead. ‌ But speaking out about working with co-star Oliver Farnworth, who plays killer John, Lawrence had nothing but good things to say. Addressing the "tense" and "not good" scenes they've had to film together, Lawrence said offscreen the pair get along very well, with him calling Oliver "the loveliest man". He shared: "Oh, he's great. What a lovely boy. I've said that several times. I phoned him a couple of weeks ago, just to say how I thought he was doing such a great job, because, you know, playing a psycho like that - it is not easy. ‌ "And I do think he's doing a great job. And he is just the most loveliest man. It is surreal working with someone in such a relative close proximity for a while, and to really get to know them better and to just have a laugh with them, but then then do some not very nice scenes." On the future for Mack amid a row with his wife Charity Dingle and the stuff with John, Lawrence remained coy but did hint at bad things ahead. He simply said: "It's not looking good." Lawrence went on: "Whilst Mackenzie has got the argument with Charity on his plate, he's also got a pretty critical moment with John on his plate as well. And, combine these two things and it does not spell good things." Its description reads: "Available in regular or petite sizing, this gorgeous midi-length dress is perfect for summer, featuring a comfortable cotton-blend jersey fabric with a ribbed bodice, whipstitch detailing across the square neckline and straps, finished with side pockets." The Jersey Midi Summer Dress could be worn with trainers or sandals, accompanied with a pair of sunglasses and some chunky jewellery for earrings or necklace. It could also be worn in any casual setting, whether you're out in the garden, doing errands around the house, or going out and about. Alternatively, for something a bit more formal, fashion enthusiasts could purchase this gorgeous number from Marks and Spencer - Jacquard Tie Detail Mini Shift Dress from the M&S Collection, for £40. Or, at Boden, you could buy the Natalia Jersey Tea Dress that comes in a selection of unique patterns for £99. Back at Next, the Jersey Midi Summer Dress has received an impressive rating of 4.5 out of five stars based on 126 reviews. One shopper praised the dress for its accessibility. They wrote: "The dress is so comfortable to wear, lovely colour, was complimented a few times when I wore it. Would highly recommend it . Would suit tall or short people". And another happy buyer remarked: "It has pockets. It's a lovely dress, thick material, but cool enough for a hot day. Could be dressed up or down. I love mine can't wait to buy the other colours, well worth the money." While another pleased purchaser had this to say: "Loved this dress . Bought for holiday and it was gorgeous on and very comfortable in the hea . Lovely fit around bust and a nice length - midi. Fitted nicely in the right places. Colour looked great next to a tan too." But not everyone was entirely happy with the dress. One reviewer wrote: "Great for holidays, very comfortable. Only gave 4 stars as I would have preferred it about 3 inches longer." And another had a suggestion for a slight change. They said: "Exactly as I ordered a lovely dark green khaki jersey easy to wear dress. Got the 14 petite fitted well not too short as I like my knees covered. Would have liked slightly wider strap sleeves but fine." However, others were pleased. "Very comfortable , quite feminine and a lovely rich colour," one shopper reviewed. "Can be dressed up or down". And another customer penned: "Lovely dress. Easy throw on item and great breathable fabric for the warmer days. Very flattering."
