Neeru makes first World Cup final, finishes fourth in Women's Trap
Having taken the sixth and final qualifying spot by virtue of winning (2-1) a shoot-off over last year's New Delhi World Cup Final winner Alessia Iezzi (Italy), Neeru eventually went out due to a higher bib number, after tying with bronze medalist and previous Nicosia world cup stage winner Lada Denisova of the Neutral Athletes (AIN) and Paris Olympics silver medalist Silvana Maria Stanco (Italy), at that elimination stage. Australia's Laetisha Scanlan won gold with 45 hits.
Earlier on Saturday at the renowned Trap Concaverde range, Neeru shot rounds of 25 and 24 to add to her 66 (21,23,22) overnight, for a tally of 115, the same score as Iezzi's.
Preeti Rajak (114) also recovered well on the day with rounds of 23 and 25 to add to her 66 (20, 24, 22), but fell short by one to finish eighth. Pragati Dubey (18,18,21,19,24) was further back with exactly 100.
In the men's trap, veteran Zoravar Singh Sandhu (24,25,24,24,24) dropped one bird each in his final two qualifying rounds for a tally of 121, putting him in a five-way shoot-off with at least two former Olympic champions, for the final two slots. He was the first to bow out, missing his second shot.
Zoravar's teammates Lakshay Sheoran (24,22,24,23,23) and Jaswinder Singh (23, 24,22,23,24) had tallies of 116 each to finish further down the leaderboard.
Sunday will see two Indian pairs fight it out in the Trap Mixed team Olympic event.(ANI)

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has confirmed Dubai and Abu Dhabi as the venues for 2025 Men's T20 Asia Cup, set to happen from September 9 to 28. Dubai will host 11 games, including the final, while Abu Dhabi will host eight matches. India will play their Group A matches against UAE and the high-stakes clash against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10 and 14 respectively, while its clash against Oman is slated to happen at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 19. Richardson was charged Sunday with fourth degree domestic violence, according to the police report obtained by The Associated Press. On Thursday, she ran in the opening round the women's 100 meters at U.S. track and field championships in Eugene, Oregon. She has an automatic bye to the world championships in September in Tokyo as the defending champion. "USATF is aware of the reports and is not commenting on this matter," USA Track and Field said in a statement. Richardson's agent did not immediately reply to an email request for comment. The police report said an officer at the airport was notified by a Transportation Security Administration supervisor of a disturbance between the 25-year-old Richardson and her boyfriend, sprinter Christian Coleman. The officer reviewed camera footage and observed Richardson reach out with her left arm and grab Coleman's backpack and yank it away. Richardson then appeared to get in Coleman's way with Coleman trying to step around her. Coleman was shoved into a wall. The report later said that Richardson appeared to throw an item at Coleman, which the TSA indicated may have been headphones. In the police report, the officer said: "I was told Coleman did not want to participate any further in the investigation and declined to be a victim." Richardson won the 100 at the 2023 world championships in Budapest and finished with the silver at the Paris Games last summer. She had a positive positive marijuana test at the 2021 U.S. Olympic trials and didn't compete at the Tokyo Olympics.
