It used a state-of-the-art laparoscope funded by the KKRDB grant.
Deputy commissioner Nitish K visited the hospital and observed the surgical procedures being carried out by the doctors. After the successful completion of the surgery, he extended his congratulations to the team led by Dr Radha Sanghavi, associate professor Dr Anuja Sagamakunta, anaesthetist Dr Kiran Nayak, Dr MK Patil, head of the department of surgery Dr Anil Kumar, and nursing officers Annapurna, Shambhavi, Lingaraj, and Narayan.
"This surgery, which typically costs between Rs 1-1.5 lakh in a private facility, is being offered at no charge at RIMS Hospital. The public should take advantage of these services. Walkland treatment, which usually costs at least Rs 10-12 lakh, is also being provided free of charge at the speech and hearing department of RIMS Hospital. Continuous eye check-ups and surgeries are being conducted here," stated DC Nitish.

Railways rationalises fares, enhances medical facilities to improve passenger services: Ashwini Vaishnaw
The Indian Railways is moving towards a more efficient, safe, and socially inclusive system, Union Minister for Railways, IT, and Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said in the Lok Sabha, in response to questions raised by Eluru MP P. Mahesh Kumar, on Wednesday. Highlighting recent fare adjustments, the Minister explained that, after a five-year gap, the Railways has implemented minimal rationalisation of ticket charges from July 1, 2025. The average increase across sleeper, 3AC, 2AC, and general classes ranges between 0.5 to 2 paisa per kilometre. No fare hike was made for journeys under 500 km in the general class, and suburban fares and Monthly Season Tickets (MST) remain unchanged. The Minister noted that Indian Railways continues to offer significant subsidies—Rs.60,466 crore in FY 2023–24, amounting to nearly 45% of total passenger service costs. Concessions remain for persons with disabilities, patients, and students. The additional revenue generated is being directed towards service improvement, including safety, punctuality, and station redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Services like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat trains, along with digital platforms such as Rail Madad and UTS Mobile App, are being expanded for better commuter access. Responding to a separate question from the same MP regarding emergency medical services, the Minister informed that medical boxes equipped with life-saving equipment and oxygen are now available at stations and onboard trains, following Supreme Court directives and AIIMS recommendations. Frontline railway staff, including ticket examiners and station masters, are receiving regular first-aid training, and emergency contact details of nearby medical facilities are displayed at stations. Ambulance services are being coordinated with state governments and private providers to ensure prompt medical response. These efforts, the Minister said, reaffirm Indian Railways' commitment to passenger welfare and safety.

Govt will consider job for kin of Covid-hit contract worker: Min
Bhopal: Deputy CM and health department Rajendra Shukla on Wednesday assured the House that he would look into the possibility of giving appointment on compassionate grounds to one of the dependents of a contract health employee killed during Covid duty. He said there was no bar on giving a job to dependents of a contract employee, but since the family of such employees have been given Rs 50 lakh as compensation, whether it can still be done or not will have to be examined. Chaudhary Sujit Mer Singh of the Congress, who had raised the issue, said dependent of one health employee killed of infection during Corona duty in Chhindwara has got a job in his place and the family also received a compensation of Rs 50 lakh. Following this, Shukla assured him to look into the issue.

MP has highest infant mortality rate in India, govt admits in assembly
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has the highest infant mortality rate in the country, with 40 out of every 1,000 newborns dying in the state, the govt informed the assembly on Wednesday. The disclosure came in a written reply by Deputy CM and health minister Rajendra Shukla to a question raised by Congress MLA Jhuma Solanki. Citing the latest Sample Registration System (SRS) 2022 data, Shukla said the state's infant mortality rate (IMR) was not only higher than the national average but also the highest among all states. "Yes, the infant mortality rate in MP is higher compared to other states and the national average," he said. In her question, Solanki had sought comparative figures, reasons behind the high IMR, and details of govt schemes and expenditure aimed at tackling the crisis. On a question regarding what was the expenditure incurred in the previous fiscal year, the govt said it had spent Rs 110 crore under different schemes and activities to reduce the infant mortality rate. The primary causes of infant deaths in MP include premature birth, pneumonia, sepsis, low birth weight, birth asphyxia and diarrhea among other reasons, the minister said in his reply. The govt also listed the schemes, activities and budget allocation aimed to reduce infant mortality rate. It includes Anaemia Mukt Bharat, nutritional rehabilitation centre, total facility based newborn care, total child death review, total paediatric care, total Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram among several others.
