
Police watchdog called in after man injured during Victoria arrest
The Victoria Police Department responded to a 911 call about a man with a weapon near Douglas Street and Pandora Avenue at around 3:45 p.m., the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) said in a statement.
Police, including members of the Emergency Response Team, arrived and located the man in possession of what appeared to be a weapon, according to the statement.
The Victoria Police said patrol officers attempted to arrest the man, deploying a "less-lethal round" during the encounter.
"The suspect was taken into custody and there is no active threat to public safety. The investigation is ongoing," the police said in a social media post on Friday.
The IIO said the man suffered an injury while being arrested and was taken to hospital for treatment. The watchdog is looking for witnesses.

Bullets fired into Bradford home during the night, police investigating
Police in Bradford responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the area of Settlers Crescent on Wednesday. It happened around 3 a.m., after witnesses reported a person wearing a black hoodie standing on the sidewalk holding a pistol-type weapon. Police say the suspect bolted off and hopped in a white sedan going southbound. When officers arrived, they found multiple bullet casings on the boulevard and sidewalk in front of a home on Settlers Crescent. Through investigation, several holes were found in a window and door of the residence, and it was determined that the holes were caused by bullets. Police say the residence was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported. Based on the information available, police believe that the incident is isolated and there is no risk to public safety. The investigation remains ongoing by members of the South Simcoe Police Uniform Patrol, Forensic Identification Unit, and Criminal Investigations Bureau. South Simcoe Police are appealing to anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to contact the South Simcoe Police Street Crime Unit at 905-775-3311 ext. 1057.

One dead in two-vehicle crash near Seguin Township

At approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, OPP, Parry Sound EMS and and Seguin Fire Department responded to the crash near Healey Lake Road. 'One person was pronounced dead at the scene.' Police said in a news release that the 'investigation is ongoing.' Highway closures and detours in effect According to the Ministry of Transportation's 511 Traveller Information Service, the collision occurred in the highway's southbound at Exit 207 near Mactier, Ont. and as a result all southbound lanes are closed. According to police, a detour has been set up for southbound traffic at Exit 207, while northbound lanes remain open. 'Updates will be provided when available,' OPP said.
