Former MP assistant arrested for unauthorised video upload in Kuala Lumpur
The suspect, aged 43, was detained in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, following a complaint from the MP.
Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail confirmed the arrest occurred at 11.30 am last Friday.
The MP discovered the unauthorised video on a Facebook account named 'Mohd Syahrizal' on July 30.
Negative comments on the post reportedly caused distress to the MP, affecting their reputation and mental state.
'The post resulted in negative comments by other Facebook users that stressed the individual and affected their reputation and psychological state,' said Mohd Azam.
The MP reportedly felt threatened by the potential consequences of the video being shared.
Police seized a Samsung and a Vivo mobile phone from the suspect as part of the investigation.
The suspect has been remanded for four days, starting from August 9.
The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code.
Authorities are also applying Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
Additionally, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 is being invoked in the probe. - Bernama

He recently led a joint inspection operation in Tawau involving his ministry's licensing and enforcement division, the Immigration Department, police, and other agencies. The two-day operation included checks on 30 tourist buses and vehicles, 15 tourism business premises, 40 boats, and four jetties, resulting in summonses for nine offences. Findings revealed that some companies, appearing locally owned, were operated by foreign investors, including those from China, and were involved in unlicensed activities such as operating water chalets, aquaculture, and homestays on agricultural or farming land. Tiong urged local authorities to take swift action against unlicensed operators and stressed that while foreign investment is welcome, it must comply fully with Malaysian laws and regulations. Police probe clash with protesters outside parliament
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into a scuffle between demonstrators and officers during a protest at Jalan Parlimen today, after videos of the incident went viral on social media. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said TikTok footage showed participants provoking and charging at law enforcement personnel who were on duty to maintain order during the memorandum submission. "One officer sustained injuries as a result of the clash and has received medical treatment," he said in a statement. An investigation has been opened under Sections 353 and 427 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging duties, and for committing mischief resulting in damage to property. Fadil reiterated that the police uphold the public's constitutional right to assemble peacefully, but warned that firm action would be taken against anyone inciting unrest or engaging in excessive provocation.

Police officer injured in scuffle outside Parliament
Police have confirmed that an officer has sustained injuries from the scuffle which happened during a memorandum submission outside Parliament this morning. Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said in a statement today that a report has been lodged following the incident, and that an investigation paper has also been opened under Section 353/427 of the Penal Code.
