Where is UNC football projected to finish in ACC Preseason Poll?
The UNC football program, just over a month from kicking off its highly-anticipated 2025 campaign, will attract plenty of attention this fall.
North Carolina made an unexpected offseason hiring for its next head coach: 8-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick. At first glance, this translates to instant success, but Belichick has never coached at the collegiate level before.
The Tar Heels will have to prove themselves in live game action – and go up against a reloaded ACC when doing so. On Wednesday afternoon, the ACC released its 2025 Preseason Poll, with media picking UNC to finish eighth.
North Carolina is a spot behind Florida State in the preseason poll, plus one spot ahead of Pitt. The Tar Heels won't match up with either the Seminoles or Panthers this fall, but split matchups with both opponents in 2024 (35-11 win at FSU, 34-24 loss vs. Pitt).
Clemson is projected to win the ACC, which should come as a surprise to very few people. UNC hosts the Tigers on October 4, a game that will play a major role in shaping the future, 2025 trajectory of both teams.
If we're deciding North Carolina's win total based on the ACC Preseason Polls alone, victories should pile up. The Tar Heels will travel to California on Oct. 17, host Virginia eight days later and travel to Syracuse on Halloween. UNC hosts Stanford on November 8, travels to Wake Forest on Nov. 15, hosts Duke Nov. 22 and travels to NC State over Thanksgiving weekend.
Belichick is a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players. The hope in Chapel Hill is that North Carolina will win games it's expected to, while also delivering a few surprises.

Philadelphia Eagles Star Hit with Sudden Injury Blow
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. With the first week of the NFL Preseason approaching for the Philadelphia Eagles, the team is dealing with notable injuries in the wide receiver group. AJ Brown is the latest addition. The star wideout is reportedly dealing with a hamstring injury. While the injury doesn't seem overly concerning at this time, it will be something to monitor as the offseason plays out. After all, hamstring setbacks tend to get tricky. Hamstring injury for A.J. Brown. — Jeff McLane (@Jeff_McLane) August 3, 2025 Brown has been Jalen Hurts' top wideout since he landed with the Eagles via trade in 2022. Brown started his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, but was traded following his third season. The Eagles have surely benefited from the presence of Brown, who kicked off his Eagles stint with nearly 1,500 yards and over 10 touchdowns. In 2022, Brown was the top wideout on the NFC Champions, who came up just short against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Two years ago, Brown had another spectacular season with the Eagles, as he caught a career-high 106 passes. He nearly notched his career-high once again, after posting 1,456 yards. He also found the endzone for seven scores in 17 games. A.J. Brown #11 talks to Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp at NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A.J. Brown #11 talks to Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp at NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2025 in Philadelphia, year, the Eagles' passing game was slightly concerning throughout the year. It showed in Jalen Hurts' passing numbers and in Brown's receiving production as well. Dealing with injuries at times, Brown appeared in just 13 games for Philadelphia last year. He caught just 67 passes, which was by far his lowest since joining the Eagles. The star wide receiver still cracked the 1,000-yard mark, but not by much. He reached the endzone for seven touchdowns. Despite a lack of regular-season production, Brown would shine throughout the playoffs. In four games, he produced a playoff career-high 163 yards and scored twice. One of his touchdowns came in the Super Bowl, where the Eagles dominated the Chiefs, getting their revenge from a couple of seasons ago. The chances of Brown getting burn in the preseason were likely always going to be slim this season. Since the 28-year-old is well-established at this stage in his career, he doesn't need the meaningless reps before a long season. Still, the setback is notable. Brown will be a player to keep an eye on in the coming days. For more Philadelphia Eagles and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Patriots rookie Efton Chism studying film of two-time Super Bowl champ
Undrafted #Patriots WR Efton Chism III says he's currently studying film of Danny also has nightly study sessions with Mack Hollins. New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Efton Chism III revealed he is currently studying film on former Patriots great Danny Amendola, as he works on getting acclimated to a new offensive system. It's certainly not a bad idea to study film on a two-time Super Bowl champion who made as great an impact as Amendola did in New England. He recorded 230 receptions for 2,386 yards and 12 touchdowns in five seasons with the Patriots. Perhaps his greatest contributions were his clutch playoff performances, where he tallied a total of 57 catches for 709 yards and six touchdowns in 13 postseason games. Chism has a similar physical makeup at receiver, and he is hoping to learn a thing or two from Amendola's tape. Chism stood out as a possible dark horse to make the final roster in the spring practices. That noise has dipped in training camp, but it could be on the verge of ramping back up with a strong preseason showing. Perhaps Chism can take successful elements from Amendola's game and apply them to his own approach in training camp. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.

Davante Adams picks his best WR duos in the NFL
Davante Adams and Puka Nacua already look like one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL. The Los Angeles Rams' wideouts have been sensational over the past two years on separate teams, but now come together in a Sean McVay offense with Matthew Stafford under center. They're not the only dynamic duo in the NFL, though. The league is full of rock-solid one-two punches at the receiver position, and CBS Sports asked Adams which duos were his favorite in the league. He refused to put himself and Nacua in this group, though, because he said saying that "only backfires." So, here's who Adams picked: It's a pretty accurate list, and one that many people would include Adams and Nacua on in 2025. The Rams will only see a few of them this year. They open the preseason against the Cowboys on Aug. 9, but likely won't see Lamb or Pickens in that game. L.A. plays Brown, Smith and the Eagles in Week 3, but wouldn't see the Vikings until the playoffs and wouldn't see the Bengals unless they got a Super Bowl rematch in 2025.
