Tom Cleverley believes his move to Plymouth Argyle will give him and the club the 'real longevity and stability' they both crave.
The former Hornets head coach has been appointed as the Pilgrims' new head coach on a three-year deal barely a month after being sacked at Vicarage Road.

'You can see the size of the club when you're sat here [at Harper's Park], the quality of the facilities, the stadium and the size of it in the background.
'As soon as I connected with people at the club, I knew this was a great move for me in my career. I feel like we're both craving real longevity and stability, and that's something that Argyle brings me. I can't wait to get started.'
Since his appointment was announced on Friday, it has been confirmed that former Hornets coaches Damon Lathrope and Matt Bevans will be joining Cleverley at the League One club where he feels chairman Simon Hallett, chief executive Andrew Parkinson and head of football operations David Fox share a long-term vision.
'I love how well-balanced and stable the club feels,' Cleverley said. 'That was both from looking at it from the outside, but when you meet Simon, David and Andrew, I felt well aligned.

'We're in a results industry, we're in a short-term results industry, but there has to be a long-term vision, a real process to bring you long-term success and stability and to make sure that your performances are sustainable. I think Simon's someone who really understands that part of it.'
Cleverley also reflected on his experience at Home Park last season when he was serving a touchline ban and had to watch from the stands as former Watford striker Andre Gray scored a last-gasp equaliser to snatch a 2-2 draw for the hosts in November.
'I've had two experiences of being inside Home Park and the atmosphere, once as a player and once as a coach,' he said. 'It was a little bit of a different experience as the head coach as I was suspended that game, so I was really in and amongst it.
'I saw Andre Gray's equalising goal go in when I was heading from the director's box to the tunnel, and I was as in amongst it as you can possibly get, so I understand how important the atmosphere can be and how good it is here, how passionate people are and ultimately how much the football club behind us really galvanises this community and that's important to me.

'I can't wait [to be back]. I'll have to be honest, as a player, I didn't always look forward to seeing the grass again after six weeks off. As a coach, I miss it after three days. This is why you do the long hours. This is why you don't retire as a player and play golf because of the smell of the grass, the sound of the studs clattering, and walking up to the training ground.
'This is football. This is why I love it. I can't wait to meet the players and supporters and get to work on the grass.'

Man City Willing to Replace Ederson With £26M-Rated Chelsea, Man Utd Target Amid PSG Doubt

Gianluigi Donnarumma's future at PSG looks uncertain after the club signed Lucas Chevalier. With that move, Donnarumma will likely need to find a new long-term team, and rumors are linking him to Manchester United. CentreDevils recently reported that Manchester United have held direct talks about signing Donnarumma. The 26-year-old keeper is reportedly a target for Ruben Amorim, who is said to be a big fan. The report notes that Donnarumma's experience and talent could be a key addition at Old Trafford as Amorim works on rebuilding the squad this summer. Journalist Ben Jacobs also shared that PSG is asking for £26 million, with Donnarumma having just one year left on his contract after the club decided not to offer an extension. Does Man City have the edge for PSG outcast? On Tuesday, RMC Sport's Fabrice Hawkins reported that Manchester City will monitor Donnarumma if Ederson leaves the club. Negotiations are ongoing with the goalkeeper's side, and personal terms won't be an issue as Donnarumma is keen on the move. Meanwhile, RMC Sport reported Monday that Chelsea and Manchester United have inquired about Donnarumma's situation. But this case is far from settled; for now, it is just a simple expression of interest from the two English clubs. On the latest episode of the Ensemble PSG Podcast, Robin Bairner, chief editor at Football Transfers, commented on the rumor linking Donnarumma to Manchester United. 'Well, our understanding at Football Transfers is that Manchester United are naturally interested in a goalkeeper,' Bairner said. 'Andre Onana hasn't been up to the standard that they had expected when they signed him. So naturally, Manchester United step into this equation. Whether Gianluigi Donnarumma is prepared to go to United, where they don't have European football this year, of course, that's debatable. 'And of course, there's a whole heap of sales that Manchester United are likely to have to make now to be able to afford to sign Donnarumma because of financial fair play. They've obviously made three big signings now, having announced Sesko. So there are complications there.'

Concord Rangers suffer away defeat at Tilbury

Concord Rangers' losing start to the 2025/26 season continued with a 2-0 defeat at Tilbury. Both sides were reduced to ten men with former Beach Boy Jimmy Wallace getting sent off against his former club for a second bookable offence in the first half for Tilbury, before Chelmsford City loanee Kai Torres also saw red for Concord for an elbow in the second half. Concord were on top for large periods and had the better chances, but they were the masters of their own downfall, conceding twice in the space of a minute with substitutes Nathan Best and Kieran Jones scoring near identical goals in quick succession to earn Tilbury a first three points of the campaign. Concord had the first chance of the game with Bobby Kelman getting in behind, but his lobbed attempt went way off target. After 20 minutes, a crucial goal-line clearance was required from Tilbury to stop the visitors from opening the scoring. Sherquan Toussaint played the ball down the line for Khris Oti, whose cross was played back to Toussaint and his shot was blocked on the line by Luke Reeve - which, despite the appeals of the Concord players, was not given as a handball from the Dockers defender by the referee. Just past the half hour, Concord would have a key referee decision go in their favour with the home side being reduced to ten men. After Rangers had cleared an Oli Spooner free kick, the Beach Boys looked to break on the counter-attack with Oti, but he was brought down by a sliding challenge from behind by former Concord man Wallace, who was given his second yellow card of the evening. Concord almost made the man advantage count on the stroke of half time, with Sammy Collins' side being frustrated by another goal-line intervention. Torres teed up Kelman with a disguised pass, and he beat Harry Fairs to the ball, poking it across to Harrison Day whose back heel was stabbed off the line by Spooner. The second half was inactive until 20 minutes from time when Concord were also reduced to ten men. After Torres and a Tilbury player tussled for the ball following the awarding of a free kick, the Concord full back lashed out with an elbow to the face that resulted in him becoming the second player of the evening to receive an early bath. This was also the second red card that Rangers have received this season, with Ricky Modeste too being sent off in an FA Cup tie against Harpenden Town earlier this month. Despite this setback, it was Concord who had the next couple of chances with Toussaint sending a drilled shot agonisingly wide of the far corner and Day's mistimed header from Liam Jones' free kick sailing over. These missed chances would prove costly for Concord, with Tilbury striking two quick-fire goals to steal the three points. Straight after coming off the bench, Best was played in behind and the striker slid the ball beneath Concord 'keeper Jacob Marsden and in with his first touch of the game. The Dockers then doubled their lead straight after kick-off, with Concord giving away possession cheaply straight to Jones, who ran through on goal and beat Marsden. This being the second season in a row in which the midfielder had scored against Concord, having also been on target in the Dockers' 2-0 win against the Beach Boys at Chadfields in January. A first win of the campaign sees Tilbury move up to eighth with Marc Harrison's team now eight games unbeaten at home, a record that stretches back to February. A second loss of the season for Concord means they are now winless in ten games in all competitions, with their last victory coming back in March.

Centre-back Daland in talks to leave Cardiff

Jesper Daland looks set to leave Cardiff City after head coach Brian Barry-Murphy revealed the centre-back has held talks with other clubs. The Bluebirds paid around £3.5m to sign the Norwegian from Cercle Brugge last year. But following Cardiff's relegation to League One, Daland has only made one substitute appearance. The 25-year-old was left out of the squad for Tuesday's EFL Cup win over Swindon Town because of his transfer discussions with other clubs. Barry-Murphy did not know whether Daland will be leaving on a permanent or loan basis, but said: "Jesper's in conversations with other clubs, so he's not available." Asked if a deal was close to being completed, he said: "I don't know. I don't know how close." Cardiff have only signed one player this summer, goalkeeper Nathan Trott on loan from Copenhagen, while 11 have left since their relegation from the Championship.
