Viktor Gyokeres agent unhappy with transfer 'mess' involving Man Utd and Arsenal
Arsenal finally completed their £64 million deal to sign the 27-year-old last weekend following several weeks of negotiations with the Portuguese champions.
Sporting fined Gyokeres €350,000 (£306,000), his entire salary for July, over his refusal to report back for pre-season training earlier this month.
Sporting had also been angered by suggestions from Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, that an agreement had been reached over the striker's transfer fee before the start of the summer window.
However, Jonathan Chalkias, who works alongside Cetinkaya to manage Gyokeres, claims Arsenal were always the first-choice destination, despite Sporting's attempts to attract interest from rival clubs.

'It was a mess,' Chalkias told Swedish network WTV.
'There was a gentleman's agreement with the previous sporting director. If Hugo Viana were still at Sporting, the deal would have been done in an hour.
'Everything was written, we didn't have time to start a legal battle.
'I don't understand how a player who scored so many goals and won three trophies didn't deserve more respect. The sacrifices we made were the turning point for the deal to happen.
'They offered Gyokeres to Real Madrid, they even made headlines with Man United, but there was a commitment with Arsenal.
'Viktor always trusted Hasan Cetinkaya's [the striker's agent] project: they agreed to move to a league with less exposure, like the Portuguese, to win titles and return to the Premier League. At the time, there were already seven Premier League clubs interested.'
In a separate interview to WTV, Gyokeres admits his transfer to Arsenal this summer 'wasn't an easy path'.
'Everyone had to make some sacrifices to get here,' the striker said.
'It wasn't an easy path, but I think sometimes that's what it takes to get to the top. More Trending
'There were ups and downs, and the last month was very difficult. There was a lot of talk in the press and on social media, but people don't really know what really happened. It was mentally tough to go through that, but these things also make us stronger.
'I don't need to blame anyone, or to say what others did or what decisions they made. I don't gain anything from that, even though it seems like some people enjoy telling others how to behave. I don't need to do that.'
When asked about the options he had this summer, Gyokeres replied: 'There were some clubs in England and Italy, but also in the Middle East. There were some options, very good options.
'Of course, you think about what you have in front of you. You have to make a decision, but from the first second I felt that this [Arsenal] was what I wanted. It wasn't a difficult decision.'

As a result, Juventus are said to have begun looking at potential replacements for Kelly and Kiwior is among them. However, the report also notes that Wolfsburg's Konstantinos Koulierakis is also on their radar. Eze warning Eberechi Eze has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but former Gunners defender Mikael Silvestre believes he should remain at Crystal Palace. Speaking to Hajper, Silvestre said: "Eberechi Eze to Arsenal? I don't think it'd be good for him, to be honest, because there is a lot of competition and because he has so much joy and freedom at Crystal Palace. "Going to Arsenal would, I think, be difficult because of the competition for places. But I like him a lot. Since his early days, he has been terrific. Rusty Viktor Gyokeres not a concern for Mikel Arteta after defeat
Within days of joining Arsenal, Viktor Gyokeres has broken records for the sales of his No 14 jersey once worn by the club legend Thierry Henry. On Wednesday night, supporters turned out in replica kit for their first proper look at the club's new £64 million striker, hoping that he will convert the chances that might have made a difference in last season's campaign, where they were Premier League runners-up and Champions League semi-finalists. Yet there is work to do with 11 days to go before Arsenal begin their new campaign at Old Trafford. Gyokeres looked understandably rusty, short of fitness and his team-mates were not always in sync with his direct runs as Arsenal lost 3-2 to Villarreal at Emirates Stadium. After an enjoyable week playing in the European Transnational Championships in Poznan recently (the Mixed Teams), I had time to spare before catching my flight home. The Open Teams had just begun, so I decided to kibitz for a while. I chose to sit behind the iconic Swedish player Peter Fredin, who I've been following keenly ever since he opened a strong No Trump against me with nul points many years ago. My partner and I never guessed we were cold for a grand slam. I soon found out that he was famous for his uncanny ability to read both cards and players. Opponents aren't even safe saying 'Thank you' when dummy goes down: he'll glean some information from the way they say it. He was partnering Artur Malinowski, another player with fantastic imagination and flair. It was a promising combination, and I wasn't disappointed. On this deal, Malinowski was South. Put yourself in his shoes: Being green vs red, you'd like to make a Michaels cue-bid showing both majors – but not at the seven-level. Most other Wests also opened 5♣️, quite a few Easts raised to 6♣️, and in both cases, the majority of Souths passed. Some Souths doubled, but were left regretting it when their partners passed (6♣️ was cold). One South bid a fearless 6♥️. Malinowski's choice? A brilliant 6♦️! He knew he'd be doubled. His plan was to redouble. He was confident that Fredin would be on the same wavelength, and realise it was an SOS, showing the other two suits. He was right: West doubled, Malinowski redoubled, and Fredin pulled to 6♥️, which East doubled. Three down was -500, a great score compared to -1370. Only one other brave South (a top Swedish player) bid 6♦️, but when he then redoubled, his partner passed. Minus 4000 is a score neither will forget in a hurry.
