Viktor Gyokeres agent unhappy with transfer 'mess' involving Man Utd and Arsenal
Viktor Gyokeres' representative has accused Sporting CP of creating a 'mess' by offering Manchester United the chance to sign the striker ahead of Arsenal. Arsenal finally completed their £64 million deal to sign the 27-year-old last weekend following several weeks of negotiations with the Portuguese champions. Sporting fined Gyokeres €350,000 (£306,000), his entire salary for July, over his refusal to report back for pre-season training earlier this month. Sporting had also been angered by suggestions from Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, that an agreement had been reached over the striker's transfer fee before the start of the summer window. However, Jonathan Chalkias, who works alongside Cetinkaya to manage Gyokeres, claims Arsenal were always the first-choice destination, despite Sporting's attempts to attract interest from rival clubs. 'There was a gentleman's agreement with the previous sporting director. If Hugo Viana were still at Sporting, the deal would have been done in an hour. 'Everything was written, we didn't have time to start a legal battle. 'I don't understand how a player who scored so many goals and won three trophies didn't deserve more respect. The sacrifices we made were the turning point for the deal to happen. 'They offered Gyokeres to Real Madrid, they even made headlines with Man United, but there was a commitment with Arsenal. 'Viktor always trusted Hasan Cetinkaya's [the striker's agent] project: they agreed to move to a league with less exposure, like the Portuguese, to win titles and return to the Premier League. At the time, there were already seven Premier League clubs interested.' In a separate interview to WTV, Gyokeres admits his transfer to Arsenal this summer 'wasn't an easy path'. 'Everyone had to make some sacrifices to get here,' the striker said. 'It wasn't an easy path, but I think sometimes that's what it takes to get to the top. More Trending 'There were ups and downs, and the last month was very difficult. There was a lot of talk in the press and on social media, but people don't really know what really happened. It was mentally tough to go through that, but these things also make us stronger. 'I don't need to blame anyone, or to say what others did or what decisions they made. I don't gain anything from that, even though it seems like some people enjoy telling others how to behave. I don't need to do that.' When asked about the options he had this summer, Gyokeres replied: 'There were some clubs in England and Italy, but also in the Middle East. There were some options, very good options. 'Of course, you think about what you have in front of you. You have to make a decision, but from the first second I felt that this [Arsenal] was what I wanted. It wasn't a difficult decision.' BREAKING NEWS Revealed: How Ruben Amorim's 'disappointing' handling of one Man United star 'completely shut the door on beating Arsenal to Viktor Gyokeres' as snub emerges before £62.4m transfer
Ruben Amorim 's handling of a Manchester United star blew any chances the Red Devils had of signing Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports. Gyokeres, 27, has been linked with a move from Sporting Lisbon for much of the transfer window with Arsenal currently in pole position for his signature. According to Portuguese outlet Record, Gyokeres was upset with the manner in which Amorim jettisoned his Swedish compatriot Victor Lindelof. The two players share the same agent in Turkish businessman Hasan Cetinkaya, with Lindelof said to have maintained a desire to remain at Old Trafford had he been offered a new deal by the club. Cetinkaya was also allegedly angered by Amorim's treatment of the centre-back given that he persuaded Gyokeres to work under the current United boss at Sporting. Gyokeres chose the Portuguese side despite offers from eight Premier League clubs claimed to have been interested in him in the summer of 2023.

Arsenal and Man United handed Viktor Gyokeres boost with Sporting 'willing to accept add-ons' as part of £69m bid
Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, with Sporting Lisbon reportedly willing to accept add-ons as part of a deal for the prolific Swedish striker. Sporting have been holding out for a fee in the region of €80million (£69m) for Gyokeres, who has scored 97 goals in 102 games over the past two club seasons. But the Portuguese champions could now be open to payment structures that include realistic bonuses to reach that figure. The news comes as Arsenal and United look to strengthen their attacking options this summer, with both clubs long-term admirers of the 27-year-old, who has a release clause of around €100m (£86m) in his Sporting contract. According to A Bola, Sporting remain firm on their overall valuation but are prepared to accept an offer in the region of €70m (£60.5m) up front, with an additional €10m (£8.5m) in achievable bonuses to reach their desired asking price. This represents a shift from fears that the Portuguese champions would demand the full €80m (£69m) in a single payment. Sporting are expecting Gyokeres to report for pre-season on Monday at their Cristiano Ronaldo Academy base, despite previous reports that the striker could skip his return in protest over an unfulfilled promise regarding his sale. Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, is said to believe the player was given verbal assurances by Sporting's former sporting director, Hugo Viana, that he could leave this summer for between €60m (£52m) and €70m (£60.5m). The situation has created tension, but Sporting remain confident of Gyokeres reporting as planned, even as Premier League interest continues to circle. Arsenal have previously been linked with a €55m (£64m) plus €10m (£11.5m) add-ons approach, while United are also monitoring the situation while also eyeing other targets. Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry City in July 2023 for an initial fee of €20m (£17m) plus €4m (£3.5m) in add-ons. He is under contract until June 2028.

Arsenal 'close to reaching verbal agreement' with in-demand Viktor Gyokeres - as Gunners target Monaco star in double summer swoop
Arsenal are reportedly close to sealing an agreement for in-demand Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres as they look to complete a double attacking summer swoop. The 27-year-old is one of Europe's most sought-after strikers having netted 54 times in 52 appearances for Sporting last season and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal or Manchester United. The Swede has been embroiled in a spat with Sporting's director over attempts to increase his potential fee for a transfer. Gyokeres is thought to believe he reached a gentleman's agreement with Sporting last summer that would see them accept a fee in the region of €70m (£60m) including add-ons at the end of the season. But Sporting are said to be holding out for a significantly higher fee. Gyokeres is reportedly set to snub the Portuguese side's pre-season training and will look to force a move through. And Arsenal are now close to reaching a verbal agreement with Gyokeres' agent Hasan Cetinkaya, according to L'Equipe. The Gunners are also eyeing Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, who is reportedly the target of interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. Monaco appear to be resigned to losing the France Under-21 star, who they value at around €70m (£60m). Last season, the Frenchman scored seven goals and provided assists in 43 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side. Arteta's side are keen to bolster their attack after an injury-ravaged campaign up top saw their title bid unravel. A move for Gyokeres now appears increasingly likely, with the Swede unhappy with comments made by Sporting president Frederico Varandas. Speaking about a transfer, Varandas said: 'Sporting is calm regarding this matter. Secondly, Sporting does not need to sell Viktor Gyokeres. Fortunately, we have moved past the phase of selling our main asset. 'However, we remain sensitive to Viktor's dreams or those of any other athlete. Sporting has made a commitment that, after weeks of meetings, we will not demand the full amount of the clause; we will be reasonable regarding the amount requested for Viktor.' Although Varandas acknowledged that Gyokeres is likely to depart, he stated that the fee will be much higher than the potential price of £60m plus £10m in add-ons. He also claimed that Gyokeres is worth more than Matheus Cunha, who joined Manchester United from Wolves for £62.5m. Varandas said: 'Today, there is a strong likelihood that he will leave. I won't disclose the amount, but the player knows what it is. I can say that Viktor will not leave for 60+10m. He won't leave, absolutely not. 'We have been watching the market and I saw [Martin] Zubimendi, who is six months younger than Viktor, leave for €65m. I saw Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, both forwards but who, in my opinion, do not have Viktor's market value or quality, being negotiated for around €75m. 'Given the demands we consider fair, I believe Viktor could leave – unless he has the worst agent in the world, which is hard for me to believe, because he is one of the best footballers in the world.'

Inside Gyokeres' row with Sporting as Arsenal target's agent claims he has ‘proof' club broke gentleman's agreement
VIKTOR GYOKERES has reportedly been embroiled in a heated fall-out with Sporting Lisbon amid a turbulent transfer saga. And Gyokeres' agent has come in claiming he has proof of an alleged agreement that can allow the Manchester United and Arsenal target to leave for less than his astronomical release clause. 3 The 27-year-old has reportedly come to blows with club bosses after trying to force through a dream move to the Premier League. The striker is allegedly furious with Sporting for going back on their word over a promise to lower his £84million asking price and plans not to play for the club again. The Sweden international believes he had a gentleman's agreement to leave the Portuguese champions for £50m with a further £8m in add-ons. But that claim has been denied by club president Frederico Varandas, who insisted he will not be bullied into letting Gyokeres move to the Premier League on the cheap this summer. Varandas said: 'Sporting will not accept blackmail and insults – you should know me better by now.' Gyokeres went on to break his silence with a brief statement on social media. The ex-Coventry City star tried to play down the squabble rumours by throwing doubt on some of the reports. Gyokeres posted: "There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right." Now Gyokeres' agent Hasan Cetinkaya has become the latest to speak out about the situation. According to Aftonbladet, Cetinkaya stated he has written proof of the alleged gentleman's agreement with Sporting that proves his client can in fact leave for a cut price this summer after turning down offers last year. Inside Viktor Gyokeres' glamorous life, from dating fellow footballer and actress to luxury holidays around world Meanwhile, it has been reported that the forward has turned down a move to United. SunSpoirt understand Man Utd are weighing up Napoli star Victor Osimhen as a potential plan B, although his high wages could pose as an obstacle. Arsenal now appear to be in pole position for Gyokeres ahead of the summer transfer window. The Gunners are rumoured to have had a £55million bid rejected by Sporting. That is understood to have been met with anger from Gyokeres and the North Londoners are preparing a second offer. Nevertheless, just like United, Arsenal are also looking at alternatives as they are chasing RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko. 3
