3 new deaths raise death toll from famine, malnutrition in Gaza to 269 martyrs
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Wednesday that three new adult deaths from starvation and malnutrition were recorded in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of famine-related fatalities to 269 martyrs, including 112 children.
The ministry stated in a report received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba') that Palestinians in Gaza face an unprecedented wave of hunger since the Israeli enemy closed the crossings in early March 2025 and imposed severe restrictions on the entry of food aid, relief supplies, fuel, and medicine.
Over time, Gaza's residents have exhausted all food resources, shops have been emptied, and finding a loaf of bread has become nearly impossible. Available goods have seen unimaginable price hikes, making "starvation" one of the most brutal causes of death in the Strip.
The healthcare system has completely collapsed, with 70% of health facilities out of service due to direct targeting or resource depletion. Hospitals lack basic medical supplies, and 45% of laboratory devices are damaged or destroyed, crippling diagnostic capabilities.
The World Food Programme (WFP) warns that over 320,000 children under five are at immediate risk of severe acute malnutrition, with 900,000 children currently facing hunger—70,000 of whom are acutely malnourished.
Despite international appeals, Israel continues to block aid convoys, with only 47% of needed supplies entering Gaza. The UN reports that 28 children die daily from preventable causes like dehydration, infection, and starvation.

From 48 to 18 Kilograms: Collapse of child's body from hunger in Gaza
Gaza – Saba: Every day, Hussein Abu al-Naja lives a nightmare as he watches his 12-year-old daughter Huda wither before his eyes. Her small body, ravaged by severe malnutrition, has wasted away to the point where she can no longer play—or even walk a few steps. Since birth, Huda has suffered from wheat allergy. For years, her parents managed her condition with a simple diet of vegetables and meat at modest cost. But Israel's starvation policy and repeated displacement stripped the family of the most basic means of survival. 'All she needed was healthy food, no more than 20 shekels a day,' her father told Palestine Online. 'Today, I cannot even provide her with what is necessary to keep her alive.' The family has been displaced six times and now lives in al-Mawasi, al-Qarara, under dire conditions: suffocating heat, lack of sanitation, insect infestations, and extreme food scarcity. With the ongoing siege, food prices have skyrocketed, and essential items for Huda's condition have disappeared from the market. Her life has turned into a daily battle against hunger and illness. Her weight has plummeted from 48 kilograms to just 18, her blood level dropped to 6.8, her hair fell out, and her skin began peeling. Today, she can barely move. Her father recalls: 'One night, she collapsed on her way to the bathroom and sustained a serious jaw injury. Since then, she has not been able to move as before.' Doctors in Gaza tried every available treatment, but nothing worked. Medical authorities approved her for urgent transfer abroad, but Israel continues to deny her travel. 'Huda desperately needs healthy food and immediate treatment, but every door remains closed to us,' her father said with sorrow. The ordeal has taken a severe psychological toll on Huda as well. She spent four months in the malnutrition ward, where she watched six children sharing her room die before her eyes. 'She couldn't bear to see her friends die one after another,' her father said. 'She begged to leave the hospital and even threatened to run away if she stayed any longer.' Today, Abu al-Naja appeals to international organizations, health institutions, and human rights groups to urgently intervene to save his daughter's life before she becomes another victim of hunger and blockade in Gaza. Palestinians in Gaza are enduring an unprecedented wave of hunger since Israel shut down the crossings in early March, imposing strict restrictions on the entry of food, aid, fuel, and medicine. Over time, residents have exhausted every food source. Shops are now empty, bread is nearly impossible to find, and whatever little remains is sold at astronomical prices. Death by starvation has become one of the deadliest threats facing the population. Meanwhile, Gaza's healthcare system has nearly collapsed since Israel's assault began in October. The siege prevents entry of medical supplies, equipment, fuel, and medicines, while Israel continues to obstruct the transfer of urgent cases abroad. Authorities impose severe restrictions on patient travel through Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, often delaying or outright rejecting permits without explanation—causing patients' conditions to deteriorate or leading to their deaths.
