Tata.ev Launches First 10 MegaChargers Across India

Tata.ev has inaugurated its first set of ten MegaChargers in India, covering multiple locations across the country. This marks the initial phase of the brand's effort to install 500 high-speed charging stations in the country. It is to be noted that the charging station installations have been developed in partnership with ChargeZone and Statiq. These have been positioned along the major highway corridors and urban centers in the country.
The charging infrastructure has three stations along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, four on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, and more points on the Pune-Nashik route, as well as in Bengaluru and Udaipur. The flagship 400 kW MegaCharger located in Vadodara is capable of charging up to six vehicles at once, providing around 150 km of range in just 15 minutes.

This initiative comes as part of TATA.ev's plan to expand the network of charging stations in India to 400,000 by 2027, significantly increasing the existing infrastructure. The company has embraced an 'Open Collaboration' approach to work alongside various Charge Point Operators and Oil Marketing Companies.
Commenting on the development, Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said, 'At a time when EV adoption is on its growth path, ubiquitous and dependable charging infrastructure is the need of the hour. These first 10 TATA.ev MegaCharger sites in key EV corridors of the country are the first tranche of a superfast charging network that we will have across major highways."
"The TATA.ev MegaCharger network will increasingly connect all major cities across India to remove charging anxiety. We are on a mission to provide fast, reliable, and effortless charging that enables seamless mobility across the country – and we are just getting started,' he added.

The vehicle aims to combine off-road capability, high performance and cutting-edge technology for India's growing electric vehicle market. The launch represents a significant milestone for the company as it expands its EV portfolio. According to a report by Autocar India, the Tata will have a starting price of ₹21.49 lakh (introductory). Full pricing and variant details will be announced closer to the booking date. 627-km MIDC range and rapid charging enhance long-distance capability The Tata is MIDC-certified for a range of up to 627 km on a single charge, making it suitable for extended road travel. Its fast-charging system can provide up to 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. Integrated with Mappls Auto EV navigation, the vehicle also assists drivers in locating nearby charging stations in real time. Bookings for the will officially open on 2 July. delivers 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds with AWD powertrain The accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, placing it among the fastest electric SUVs in its category. It features a dual motor Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) system that powers all four wheels and includes Drift and Boost modes to enhance driving dynamics. The SUV is equipped with six terrain modes, including Sand and Rock Crawl, along with a customisable option. An Off-road Assist function offers low-speed cruise control for navigating challenging trails. Tata Motors sees record sales and strong EV momentum in 2024 In calendar year 2024, Tata Motors recorded sales of 600,915 vehicles, marking a 3.5 per cent increase from 587,713 units in 2023. This represents the company's fourth consecutive year of record-high annual sales. The automaker introduced several new models during the year, including the Tata Curvv, and strengthening its position in both the electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) segments. Tata Motors also reported a 77 per cent rise in CNG vehicle sales, surpassing 120,000 units. SUV sales climbed 19 per cent, with the Punch alone contributing over 200,000 units to the annual tally. In December 2024, Tata briefly secured the second spot in monthly sales rankings by delivering 44,289 units, reflecting a modest year-on-year growth of 1 per cent.

The update was shared on social media platforms with a video showing the cricketer taking delivery of the vehicle with his parents. Based on the visuals, the athlete seems to have chosen the internal combustion engine version of the car. The brand offers the option of an electric vehicle powertrain, as well. The video shows Arshdeep Singh entering the dealership with his parents. Upon entry, they are welcomed by the staff with flowers. Later on, everyone proceeds to celebrate their new possession by cutting a cake. By the end, they unveil the car, and the cricketer hands over the key to his mother. Based on the video, Arshdeep Singh has chosen the Pure Grey colour of the vehicle. Besides grey, the first Coupe-SUV by Tata Motors is also available in Gold Essence, Flame Red, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Opera Blue, and Nitro Crimson. The Tata Curvv is one of the very few coupe-SUVs available in a relatively lower budget segment. It has a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 19.51 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand offers four vehicles in four trim levels with a wide variety of variants. In terms of features, the Tata Curvv comes with ambient mood lighting, voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, an air purifier, electric tailgate, an electrochromic IRVM, and an illuminated and cooled glovebox. For safety, it gets Level 2 ADAS with six airbags, and more. The powertrain options for the vehicle include a 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.2-litre TGDi petrol. The transmission options include six-speed MT, and seven-speed DCA.
