RANAU: A farmer lost his farmhouse after the building caught fire at Simpang Kg Nampasan Baru, Jalan Poring, here, early Monday. Ranau Fire and Rescue Station Chief, PPgB Rantey Fred, said there was no casualty in the 9.16am incident. He said Fire and Rescue personnel managed to extinguish the fire to prevent it from spreading to a nearby house. 'An emergency call was received via the Station Line and a group of seven firefighters led by Operations Commander, PBK I Becket bin Gumat, rushed to the location. 'Upon arriving at the scene which is located 15km from the station, the semi-permanent farmhouse measuring 50x20ft was already 60pc burnt. 'There operation was carried out using one 300ft stream and two water jets from fire engines,' he said, adding that the cause of fire and estimated losses are still under investigation. After ensuring there was no further danger, the operation was wrapped up at 10.31am. He reiterated the call towards the public to be more cautious of fire incidents, especially during dry and windy seasons. The 3.30pm blaze did not result in any injuries or loss of life, according to Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohammad Nor Amit. A total of 24 personnel from Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Putatan fire stations responded with three engines following an emergency call at 3.34pm. Twenty-three semi-permanent homes were destroyed while one was partially damaged, along with a vehicle, before the fire was brought under control at 5.15pm. Eight homes affected in Tawau water village fire

A 50-year-old woman suffered burns to her hand and received emergency treatment at the scene, according to the Fire and Rescue Department. Of the eight homes involved, five were completely destroyed while three others sustained about 10 percent damage. Twenty-five personnel from the Tawau Fire and Rescue Station were deployed following an emergency call received at 9.24pm via the Mers999 hotline. The 50-year-old victim suffered burns to her hands and was given emergency treatment at the scene. According to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, five houses were destroyed while three others sustained minor damage. A total of 25 firefighters from Tawau station were deployed to the site after receiving a distress call at 9.24pm via the Mers999 hotline.
