Britain's Got Talent is hit by another fix row as show introduces controversial new element in semi-finals with fans left raging

Daily Mail03-05-2025
Britain's Got Talent has been hit by another fix row after a controversial new element was introduced in the semi-finals.
The Golden Buzzer has previously just been a fixture in the auditions, but an eyebrow-raising new concept has seen it also added to the semi-finals.
Guitarist Olly Pearson, 11, secured the sought-after Golden Buzzer after Simon Cowell was left blown away by his performance.
He showcased his talents with an impressive guitar medley and made his way to the final alongside Stacey Leadbeatter, who secured the most public votes.
However, viewers were left divided about the addition of the Golden Buzzer in the semi-finals, giving them a one-way ticket to the final.
Taking to X, fans were seething about the fact it could only be pressed once, with some declaring the whole thing as a 'fix'.
Comments included: 'This pile of rubbish needs to be renamed Britain's Got the Fix Factor, because there is NO WAY tonight's voting was accurate. No way #BGT';
'Golden buzzer is clearly to fix #BGT'; 'Honestly get rid of that stupid golden buzzer! The audience should shut up! # BGT.'
In each semi-final, one of the judges or Ant & Dec can take control of the buzzer when they see a performance worthy of a place in the final.
They have just one opportunity to press it, meaning any acts which follow do not have the chance to secure the sought-after accolade.
Elsewhere in Saturday's second round of semi-finals, supermarket worker Stacey got through to the final after fearing she wouldn't be able to sing due to her health woes.
The singer impressed the judges in her audition and received a Golden Buzzer from KSI after being forced to retrain her voice due to a stutter.
However, she reached a huge hurdle this week as she was struck down by strep throat, which left her fearing she might not be able to sing in the semi-finals.
She gave it her all at Wembley Arena in front of the judges - and has now landed her spot in the final, hoping for a chance to be crowned the winner.
Stacey won the most public votes and advanced straight through the final alongside guitarist Olly.
She beat out competition including Will Burns and Cheer Re Mans to the top slot, who narrowly missed out on their place in the final.
Speaking after the vote was revealed, Stacey said: 'Thank you so much for believing in me.'
She broke down in floods of tears and grabbed host Declan Donnelly for a hug as she was overwhelmed with emotion.
Just hours before the semi-final, Stacey revealed her panic about potentially not being able to sing after being struck down by strep throat.
'My voice is only just coming back,' she told The Mirror.
'I am still actually on antibiotics. I haven't been able to sing properly. I have been a bit concerned about this weekend but, hopefully, I'll be able to do it.'
The semi-finals will continue next week with the finals set to wrap up the series at the end of the month.

Stacey Dooley's visit to 'Britain's most hated woman' sparked neighbour dispute

Stacey Dooley's visit to 'Britain's most hated woman' sparked neighbour dispute Stacey Dooley stayed over at the home of a controversial former glamour model Carla Bellucci who has now claimed the visit for a documentary encouraged her neighbours to be 'nosey' Stacey Dooley pictured with Carla Bellucci (Image: @‌pixbygiovanni) A mum, infamously dubbed 'Britain's most hated woman', has lashed out at her neighbours for being "nosey" during a visit from Stacey Dooley. ‌ The Strictly Come Dancing favourite and renowned documentarian dropped by the notorious mum's residence for the third series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over. Stacey delved into Carla's life following backlash on This Morning where she faced criticism for allegedly feigning depression to secure a complimentary nose job via the NHS. ‌ In the programme, Stacey addressed the media storms often surrounding Carla and remarked: "I think it's undeniable the controversial headlines have affected [your] children." ‌ Yet, in conversation with Manchester Evening News, Carla accused her neighbours of being fixated with her life, claiming they couldn't resist being "nosey" while Stacey lodged with her. When quizzed about local chatter in her Hertfordshire community, she disclosed: "If I ever have film crews around, they will purposely say, 'We are cutting the hedge today.' Really? Come on. Carla's neighbourly feuds persist beyond the 2022 airing of the Stacey documentary, with recent conflicts "ruining" her summer evenings. Speaking to the Mirror, she complained: "They burn wood every weekend starting from a Friday night always. So our summer evenings having vino in the garden is a no go. ‌ "It stinks and I have no idea why they do it. I think they are farmers, our houses back onto a field, and I honestly think they think they own the farmer's field." The mother-of-four humorously suggested: "Maybe they burn wood for their fire but it's summer so I have no idea but it is probably to p*** me off and ruin my summer vino nights chilling to music." She described the smoke from the wood burning as "horrific" and pointed out that it doesn't help that she and her family members suffer from asthma. She also mentioned that the Friday routine affects her breathing if she remains outdoors. ‌ She described the wood burning issue as 'insane' (Image: @‌pixbygiovanni) She continued: "I have never experienced something like this, they have even built a wood burning shed thing, it's insane." However, she concluded that she has learned to cope with the issue, expressing a wish for a world where she could simply get along with her neighbours. EXCLUSIVE: Britain's Got Talent Golden Buzzer winner Max Fox reveals Simon Cowell's late semi-final song change advice

Britain's Got Talent Golden Buzzer sensation Max Fox has revealed a late semi-final song U-turn following advice from judge Simon Cowell. Singer Max was an audience member at an audition of the smash hit ITV television show in Blackpool earlier this year. In what he describes as a 'mad moment' the 35-year-0ld shouted out to Cowell from the crowd to request an impromptu audition. The outcome was beyond his wildest dreams. Max was not only granted an audition, where he sang My Way, but also received a Golden Buzzer pass to the semi-final by judge Amanda Holden. Footage of the moment, which Max insists was not staged, has been viewed 160 million times on YouTube. Max, who performs in Aberdeen this month with Cirque: The Greatest Show – Reimagined, revealed he was set to sing an Elton John classic in the semi-final. However, just three days before the event, he received a call from Cowell suggesting he revisit My Way as his audition was so successful. He took the advice on board, but failed to progress to the final. Max explained: 'The semi-final was far more nerve wracking. 'I was actually meant to sing, and this is a bit of an exclusive, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me. 'Three days before I got a call from Simon who said he thought I should sing My Way again because it had gone worldwide. 'Simon said it was entirely my choice and left it in my hands. 'But I decided to go with him. 'I was against the Post Office Choir who are absolutely amazing. 'I came second to them but I walked away with my head held high. 'I'm really thankful for that because Britain's Got Talent is something I wanted to do since I was a kid. 'It was a bucket list that I could finally tick off after 19-years. 'I finally got my moment and I'm having fun with Cirque, so I'm good.' Max's impromptu audition was included in a Britain's Got Talent episode broadcast on April 19. After 19-years of unsuccessful attempts to land an audition spot the singer boldly stood up from the audience and asked Cowell for an opportunity to perform. His plea resonated with the audience, and judges, and he was allowed to sing. Max revealed he was in the crowd to watch one of his fellow performers from Cirque: The Greatest Show – Reimagined audition. Max explained: 'A lot of people were saying it was all fixed and set up but it was very much real. 'Everything you saw on the television did happen. 'With the exception of me going upstairs with the producers and them cutting down my song which took about 20 minutes. 'But from shouting out in the audience to being on stage singing was probably a maximum of 25 minutes. 'It was a moment of madness but one that that paid off, that's for sure. 'It was spur of the moment as I was actually going to watch one of my dancers who has worked in Cirque. 'She was performing as one of the acts in the show. 'I got a pretty good seat, three rows from Simon and I was on the aisle. 'So thought 'why not create a moment out of this opportunity?' 'I saw a couple of women on the other side shout at Simon and he turned round and waved at them. 'So, I thought maybe I should shout out, and I took a chance.' Max earned a standing ovation from the judges and audience for his emotional rendition of My Way. In an unprecedented move judge Holden pressed her Golden Buzzer to move the singer directly into the semi-finals. Holden had already previously used her Golden Buzzer for the season. Max said: 'It was all a surreal experience. 'I definitely didn't expect to get the Golden Buzzer. 'It was a very crazy hour of my life and I'm trying to hold onto every single memory of that. 'What is beautiful is that it is all over YouTube so I will have it forever imprinted in video which is nice. 'Britain's Got Talent was a crazy experience in itself but it is wonderful to be able to tour the country with Cirque and meet fans. 'It has been a bit of a whirlwind. 'I actually do the song I sang for the Britain's Got Talent audition during the show to pay homage to my BGT journey. 'My social media has blown up as my audition video went super viral with 160 million views across the world. 'I have 80,000 extra followers now off the back of that. 'However, I'm still very much a grounded person as it hasn't changed my life, or me, in any way. 'In terms of opportunities though it definitely opened doors. 'But I will always same be the same guy from Blackpool, I'll never change.' Max is currently touring the UK with Cirque: The Greatest Show – Reimagined which is a breathtaking fusion of musical theatre and circus acts. The family friendly show is an all new production for this year. Max said: 'I created Cirque: The Greatest Show back in 2019. 'Then I partnered up with entertainers who are one of the biggest promoters in the country. 'We worked together to create this large scale tour. 'For the show think The Greatest Showman meets Cirque du Soleil. 'You can expect things you would see under a big top but also aspects that are from a theatrical setting. 'It's a great, family friendly show that everyone enjoys, no matter their age. 'We have really revamped the show this year by stripping it all back and creating a brand new show for 2025.' Cirque: The Greatest Show – Reimagined is at His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen on Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13. Further details at:
