Mohd Nizam is both an alumnus and pioneer participant of the college's inaugural 2020 course.
He later returned that same year to serve as its second Commandant.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led strategic initiatives like the Joint Common Operating Picture (JCOP) and post-Movement Control Order simulations.
Under his leadership, the college expanded from Cohort 1 to Cohort 6, attracting global participation from senior officials abroad and state civil servants.
The Malaysian Armed Forces stated his induction honours his strategic leadership and resilience amid global challenges.

'I'm really happy and thankful. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without my parents' prayers and sacrifices. They worked hard to support the family and give us a proper education. 'I used to feel down and nearly gave up, but the support of my parents, lecturers and friends gave me the strength to keep going, and I dedicate this success to all of them,' he told reporters here today. Earlier, Kishendran received the award from Polytechnic and Community College Education Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail at the 23rd PMM Convocation Ceremony. The third of six siblings from Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, said he had been keenly interested in accounting since Form Four. Kishendran said he would wake up as early as 4 am every day to work on assignments, ensuring he managed his time wisely to actively participate in various polytechnic programmes while achieving excellent results academically and in co-curricular activities. He also earned an overall Merit KITA score of 88.75 per cent, the comprehensive assessment system of Malaysian polytechnics that evaluates academics, leadership, co-curricular activities, and student personality.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has issued a stern reminder to members of the Malaysian Armed Forces about the correct wearing of honour berets and badges on military uniforms. Speaking at the 60th Anniversary Parade of the Special Forces Regiment at Kem Iskandar in Mersing, Johor today, Sultan Ibrahim, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces, said all berets and badges should reflect the wearer's actual skills, qualifications, and identity — not serve merely as decoration. 'For example, I myself completed Special Forces and parachute training at Fort Bragg, United States. Therefore, I am entitled to wear those badges on my uniform,' he said, according to a post on his official Facebook page. The King added a caution for those who have received honorary badges. 'If you are only an honorary recipient, the badge can only be worn at that specific event, not as a daily decoration. 'So, for those who are not entitled to wear them… you know what should be done. 'This morning, I am only issuing a mild reprimand, siapa yang makan cili, dia yang rasa pedas (if you eat chili, you must feel the heat).' The royal admonition comes as part of the King's call to uphold discipline and authenticity within the armed forces, emphasising that uniforms and insignia should accurately reflect a soldier's experience and qualifications.
