When the Washington Commanders reported to training camp on Tuesday, one of their top players didn't join them. Terry McLaurin wasn't in attendance for the first day of Commanders' training camp as he's in the midst of a contract dispute, ESPN reported.
The star wide receiver has been outspoken about wanting a new deal this offseason. Entering the final year of his contract, McLaurn told reporters last week that it was "disappointing and frustrating" that he and the team haven't had substantive extension talks to this point.
McLaurin, who earned his second Pro Bowl nod last season, hasn't decided if he'll ask for a trade yet, but he's most interested in "trying to bring a deal together, not breaking the team apart," a source close to the receiver told FOX Sports' Henry McKenna. However, "everything will be on the table," that source iterated to McKenna.
The Commanders held their conditioning tests on Tuesday and will hit the practice field for the first time in training camp on Wednesday. While McLaurin didn't report to camp on Tuesday, he could theoretically show up on Wednesday, but not practice to avoid getting fined.

Stefon Diggs goes viral for nearly losing dog on puppy adoption day
Stefon Diggs almost lost the dog on puppy adoption day 😂The Patriots arrive for Day 1 of training camp-#patriots #newenglandpatriots Who needs a warmup when you have an excited dog like the one New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs carried onto the training camp practice field on Wednesday? The four-time Pro Bowl receiver broke a sweat before practice even started after carrying his puppy onto the field and setting him down on the ground. Within a second, the puppy took off and started sprinting away from Diggs, who could be seen chasing the dog around by the practice field entrance. Along with opening training camp, the Patriots hosted a "Pawtriots" pet adoption event, where fans could adopt a four-legged friend in need of a home. Multiple players, including Diggs, showed up to camp with their puppies in hand. The pre-workout from Diggs' four-legged friend must have helped considering he was the recipient of second-year quarterback Drake Maye's first training camp completion in competitive 11-on-11s. There is hope that the four-time Pro Bowler will serve as a top receiving option for the Patriots and a strong locker room leader for the other young receivers on the roster. Steelers GM Omar Khan sheds light on Minkah Fitzpatrick trade
Steelers training camp has finally arrived — and GM Omar Khan has revealed why Minkah Fitzpatrick was traded to the Dolphins — it had everything to do with who they were receiving in exchange. On Wednesday's press conference, Khan was asked what the decision making process was in terms moving on from Fitzpatrick — and he argued that it had little to do with their former safety, and more to do with acquiring All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith. "I don't know if it was necessarily moving on from Minkah," Khan said. "We had an opportunity to acquire two Pro Bowl players — that we felt that, where we are as a team, made sense for us. We have a lot of respect for Minkah. Minkah was a great football player for a few years for us. Wish him the best." Several analysts and insiders argued that Fitzpatrick's big contract and lack of splash plays of the past two seasons played a role in the trade — but he was still playing at a high level on defense. Fitzpatrick will have an opportunity to catch up with his former team when the Dolphins head to Pittsburgh in Week 15 on Monday Night Football — an exciting matchup with potential playoff implications that late in the season. Drew Brees mentored a second-year QB this summer, but not for the Saints
Drew Brees hasn't had a quiet retirement. The legendary New Orleans Saints quarterback has taken another swing at broadcasting, but he's also offering his knowledge to the next generation of passers. One young gun who sought him out was Denver Broncos starter Bo Nix. His head coach Sean Payton was pleased by Nix taking initiative to learn from the best. "Yeah, him just reaching out (is good to see)," Payton said after Wednesday's training camp practice, acknowledging the challenges of coordinating Nix's busy schedule with Brees and quarterbacks coach Tom House. The second-year pro learned a lot in the four or five days he spent with Brees this summer. "All of that is stuff he's doing on his own. And that's what you're looking for." Nix went 10-7 last year as a rookie, including a mid-October win over the Saints in New Orleans. He was invited to the Pro Bowl as a fourth alternate but wasn't able to make the trip due to offseason ankle surgery. Clearly he's eager to level up in 2025. Hopefully some of the Saints' own quarterbacks make time to team up with Brees in the future; young guys like Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shough, and Jake Haener could use any edge they can glean from a week of training with a future Hall of Famer. But as was the case with Nix, they'll need to take the step to call up Brees themselves.
