SONY'S PlayStation 6 may be out sooner than we thought, a new leak suggests.

documents from Microsoft, which owns Xbox, previously revealed that the tech giant was expecting a 2028 launch for next-gen consoles.
That included its own top-secret Xbox successor as well as Sony's unnamed next-gen PlayStation.

But countering that is a new report from

This unannounced game was reportedly due to be called Blade Runner: Time To Leave.
It was allegedly in development at Supermassive Games, with a 12-hour single-player story planned.
The report notes that the game entered pre-production in September 2024 with a budget of around £33 million / $45 million.
But the game has supposedly been canned by the Guildford, UK-based studio.

However, it's a major hint that the PS6 might land in 2027 rather than 2028.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE PS6 LAUNCH WINDOW?
Sony hasn't explicitly confirmed a launch timeline for the PS6.
But the company has released plenty of consoles in the past, giving us some useful info to work with.

Just last year, we asked AI to predict the PS6 release date, based on Sony's PlayStation release
history
.
And it came up with Thursday, November 11, 2027 – fitting in with this latest leak.
Here's a list of
PlayStation – Saturday, December 3, 1994 (1st Saturday)
PS One – Friday, July 7, 2000 (1st Friday)
PlayStation 2 – Saturday, March 4, 2000 (1st Saturday)
PS2 Slimline – Friday, October 29, 2004 (5th Friday)
PlayStation 3 – Saturday, November 11, 2006 (2nd Saturday)
PS3 Slim – Thursday, August 27, 2009 (4th Thursday)
PS3 Super Slim – Tuesday, September 25, 2012 (4th Tuesday)
PlayStation 4 – Friday, November 15, 2013 (3rd Friday)
PS4 Slim – Thursday, September 15, 2016 (3rd Thursday)
PS4 Pro – Thursday, November 10, 2016 (2nd Thursday)
PlayStation 5 – Thursday, November 12, 2020 (2nd Thursday)
PS5 Slim – Friday, November 10, 2023 (2nd Friday)
PS5 Pro – Thursday, November 7, 2024 (1st Thursday)
There's usually a six-to-seven-year gap between the major console releases.
Just look at this list:
1994 – PlayStation
2000 – PlayStation 2
2006 – PlayStation 3
2013 – PlayStation 4
2020 – PlayStation 5
And the final two (and therefore most recent) consoles came out seven years after their predecessors.

That would suggest that Sony would work towards a 2027 launch.
November is usually favoured by Sony for PlayStation launches, especially in recent years.
That means the console is out just in time for Christmas and the Black Friday spending season.
And Sony clearly tends towards Thursday and Friday launches, usually in the second or third week of the month.

"Considering the
trends
and patterns, Thursday, November 11, 2027 seems more likely for a few reasons," one of the latest AI
models
told The Sun last year.
"Sony has shown a preference for Thursday releases in recent years, especially for significant product launches like the PlayStation 5.
"Releasing on a Thursday allows for a full weekend of sales and media coverage, maximizing initial impact and momentum.
"Thus, the most likely date for the next-generation PlayStation console release, based on observed patterns and strategic considerations, would be: Thursday, November 11, 2027."

Sadly it's impossible to say exactly when the console will launch.
And even if Sony already has launch plans for 2027, they could still change.
In the meantime, PlayStation owners are having to pay extra for consoles after a

Disney+ viewers could be slapped with whopping £1,000 fine if they tune into huge new sports boost – don't take the risk

DISNEY+ viewers should be wary of an upcoming boost in sports content that could land them a £1,000 fine just for watching. Earlier this week, the streaming giant announced it had 2 The UEFA Women's Champions League trophy Credit: Getty 2 Being caught without a TV Licence can result in a hefty £1,000 fine Credit: PA Photos It means that from October, fans will be able to watch every match live through their Disney+ subscription - at no extra cost. However, sports fans should be cautious of TV Licensing rules. Households require a TV Licence to watch live content - even through a streaming platform like Disney+. And being caught without a TV Licence can result in a hefty £1,000 fine. READ MORE ON STREAMING On-demand content - shows you can watch at any given moment - don't require the extra fee. It only applies if you tune into live shows and matches. In the days when streaming services hosted exclusively on-demand content, they were safe to use without a TV Licence. But with an increasing number of streamers picking up live TV content, particularly in the realm of sports, the chances of households breaking TV licensing rules has jumped. Most read in Tech Households were given similar warning last year, when Netflix took over rights to WWE with live broadcasts taking place on the app more than ever before. TV Licensing previously reiterated the rules to The Sun in November ahead of Netflix's "A TV Licence is needed to watch live content on streaming services, watch or record a TV programme on any channel and when using BBC iPlayer," a rep said at the time. "Further information is available on the TV Licensing website or via the customer services team, who can help with any queries." The TV Licence fee was recently increased by £5 , jumping from £169.50 previously to £174.50 since April 1. What are the TV Licence rules? Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun, explains : A TV Licence currently costs £169.50. Some people mistakenly believe that you only need a TV Licence if you have a TV or watch BBC channels. You aren't breaking the law if you own a TV without a licence, as long as it's not hooked up to an aerial or other live broadcasting equipment - so you can use it with your PS5 for gaming for example. The basic principle is, that if you are accessing any live broadcast from any channel, whether it be through a TV or online, you must have a TV Licence. If you are recording a live broadcast to watch later, you also need a TV Licence. Watching on-demand content does not require a TV Licence - except if you're watching BBC iPlayer. By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun With most games online these days, tech companies need to maintain quite hefty servers to manage everything. It's no cheap business to operate with millions of gamers across the world. Naturally, people move on, leaving older games behind in the process. There comes a point where it's no longer viable to continue offering server access so studios shut them down. For some games that are entirely online this can render it completely useless. But others may have a way for you to continue playing solo still. You should usually see a prominent notification in the game warning you with instructions on what to do - provided you're still playing the game of course.

'Colin farell means I'm seated,' a third shared while a number of fans made reference to the star's past cinematic crossovers. 'Penguin & Harley Quinn in another universe,' one penned, while another joked: 'Does the Joker know that Harley Quinn and Penguin are hanging out?' Sony pushed the film's release from May 9 to September 19, with plot details having been kept tightly under wraps. However, sleuthy fans have deduced that the film follows two strangers who meet at a wedding and set off on a GPS-guided adventure which involves time travel and a lot of romance.
