Viral For Dramatic Salt-Sprinkling, This Chef Once 'Intimidated' Messi — A Short Rise & Fall Story
The Salt Bae Moment That Changed Everything
Salt Bae's rise started with a short video in 2017 which showed his signature move where he sprinkled salt with a dramatic wrist flick, letting it slide down his forearm onto a juicy steak. Wearing dark sunglasses and a tight white T-shirt, he became an internet sensation.
The video caught the attention of millions including celebrities like Bruno Mars who reposted it and Rihanna who even wore a Salt Bae t-shirt. Stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio visited his restaurants. He has also been pictured with soccer legend David Beckham and actor Jason Statham.
The Luxury Steak Empire
Salt Bae's success led to the rapid expansion of his restaurant brand, Nusr-Et. Starting from a single location in 2010, his empire grew to include spots in Dubai, London, New York, Beverly Hills and more.
His menu was anything but ordinary. At the Beverly Hills location, guests could enjoy char-grilled steaks like the mustard-marinated Amor, also known as Salt Bae's Private Reserve Cut, thick wagyu Woww steak and the famous Salt Bae tomahawk.
Nusr-Et also offered a lavish Golden Experience menu that featured steaks coated in edible gold. For example, a 24-carat gold-covered tomahawk steak was priced at $950, a golden Amor at $1,500 and a massive four-pound wagyu New York strip steak at $2,000. The menu even included unique dishes like meat sushi topped with Parmigiano cheese served on beds of sushi rice.
The restaurants became famous not only for the food but also for the spectacle with Salt Bae often performing his salt-sprinkling routine at the table.
Trouble In Paradise
Salt Bae's shine started to fade as serious complaints surfaced. A former waiter at his Manhattan steakhouse accused Salt Bae of taking a portion of the employees' tips. According to a report in Eater, the waiter had claimed that tips were pooled but that management kept about 3 per cent before sharing the rest with staff including managers and non-service employees.
The employee had also alleged that workers were shorted on pay for breaks and overtime. According to the lawsuit, anyone who complained about not receiving their full tips was systematically fired. Customers also started speaking out. Many said, 'The show looks good. But the food isn't worth it."
These accusations added to Salt Bae's growing list of controversies.
Public Missteps
Salt Bae's troubles extended beyond his restaurants. In 2022, he caused a stir by storming the pitch at the FIFA World Cup final without permission. He grabbed the trophy, kissed it and performed his signature salt-sprinkle gestures. Even Lionel Messi looked stunned by his unexpected actions. Many saw this as disrespectful.

Canadian man calls out Indian family for loud beach music. Internet divided
A Canadian man's public rant about an Indian family playing loud Punjabi music at a beach has ignited a heated conversation online about noise, culture, and double standards. The man, who goes by @truenorthlooper on Instagram and describes himself as a 'one-man band,' shared a video criticising the City of Barrie's enforcement of noise rules. He claimed local authorities had once stopped him from performing at the beach and even fined him for it, but seemed unbothered by other people 'blasting whatever kind of music they want.' In the clip, he stopped in front of a picnic setup with a speaker playing Punjabi tracks, pointedly noting that the family wasn't even around to enjoy it. 'These people are not even here, yet everyone within 150 feet has to listen to this. Great job, City of Barrie,' he said in a sarcastic tone. He also expressed frustration over what he saw as unfair treatment. 'Heaven forbid I play guitar and raise money for the Barrie Food Bank- that's a no-no. But yeah, come here, blast whatever music you want, and leave it playing while you're in the water. Everyone else just has to put up with it,' he added. The video, initially posted under the title 'The good, the bad and the ugly reality of the City of Barrie', resurfaced after being shared by a popular Canadian Instagram page. Reactions in the comments were split. Some viewers sided with him, saying loud music in public spaces is disruptive, while others accused him of targeting people unnecessarily and urged him to 'let others enjoy themselves.' A user commented, 'Just confront them about it? Or request for slightly lower volume? I don't understand, is it a new trend to come and cry to the internet as a full grown man? Cmon man. Find another spot, or request them. Weeping on the internet is not it. ' Another user wrote, 'Why are you complaining to social media? Go ask them to turn it down like an adult would.' 'Buy a private beach then buddy,' the third user advised. 'Common courtesy and space for others used to be a thing. I think the dude is on point for not disturbing other's peace and doing things considering ppl around you,' the fourth sided with the Canadian man. 'I would just shut it down. Some people don't know basic etiquette,' the fifth user wrote.

Meet Shah Rukh Khan's doppelganger with matching style, six-pack abs, lakhs in earnings
Bollywood is filled with celebrities, and so are their lookalikes. The latest to grab everyone's attention is Shah Rukh Khan's doppelgänger, who not only shares strikingly similar abs and physique but also mirrors his style and even mannerisms. What changed his life was an IPL match in Rajkot when fans surrounded him, mistaking him for Shah Rukh. Since then, the actor's doppelgänger has been attending parties, shows and other events, earning in lakhs reportedly. Shah Rukh Khan's popular doppelgänger is Ibrahim Qadri, who recently featured in Vogue India. Hailing from Junagadh, Gujarat, Ibrahim reportedly used to paint shop signs and walls. 'I must have been 14 or 15 when they first started saying it. His film Deewaana (1992) had just come out,' Ibrahim told the magazine. 'But I never took it seriously because family members always say things like that, don't they? It was only in 2017 when I went to watch an IPL match and the crowds went wild thinking I was Shah Rukh that I felt I could do something with it," he shared. Ibrahim reportedly charges up to Rs. 2.5 lakh for an event, such as Bollywood nights in bars and clubs or private Eid parties in Dubai. However, he sees his career as a craft that he needs to work on every day. 'I'd watched his films for years as a viewer, but in 2017, I began watching them to learn his gestures, expressions and dances. It took me a year to prepare myself," he shared. Not just his looks and mannerisms, Ibrahim also styles himself like King Khan. He revealed he hand-makes outfits and works out every day to maintain his look. 'I have no special diet,' he added, asserting his love for home-cooked food. Ibrahim is quite popular on social media as well. He has over 2 million followers on Instagram. His videos and photos often go viral from time to time, confusing fans. Despite his love for Shah Rukh, Ibrahim hopes to never run into the superstar. Reportedly, it would take away the excitement of his journey. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh was last seen in Dunki. His next release will be King, alongside Suhana Khan and Deepika Padukone.
