Séamus Power labours to opening 73 at Charles Schwab Challenge
Power, who missed the cut at last week's US PGA Championship, three-putted on his first hole (10th) and struggled to find any early momentum in Fort Worth, Texas, dropping further shots at the 13th, 17th and 18th.
A birdie at the par-three 16th, where he landed his tee shot within 13 feet of the flag, was a boost, while the highlight of the round undoubtedly came at his next par-three hole (4th).
Power pulled the tee shot left of the green before executing wonderful chip from almost 90 metres to perfection to move to two-over.
That however was given back at the 8th, Power's penultimate hole, when the 38-year-old found a greenside bunker on his way to a bogey.
World No 1 Scottie Scheffler trails PGA Tour rookie John Pak by five strokes, days after clinching the US PGA Championship.
The three-time major winner made an early statement with an eagle on the first hole, adding a pair of birdies on his way to a two-under par 68.
Pak is the man to catch with a seven-under par 63 that included an eagle at his first hole (10th) and five birdies in a blemish-free round.

Gareth Bale emphatically rules out professional golf career
Gareth Bale admitted he was "100% sure" that he could not become a professional golfer. The former Real Madrid and Wales star is well known for his love of golf and has cut his handicap from "three or four" to just 0.1 since retiring from football in January 2023. That has led to suggestions that Bale - who has played on the PGA Tour at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am where footage of him making a brilliant chip from a cart path went viral - could try and make it as a professional golfer, despite having turned 36 earlier this month. "I'm fully, 100% sure, I can not make it professionally," Bale told BBC Wales ahead of this week's AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl. "When you are in golf and you see professional golfers play, compared to even your best stuff, it is nowhere near. "When I've played with those players and watched them, you really appreciate how good they actually are. "Never mind just playing with your friends, they are doing it under the most severe pressure, in tournament conditions, in hard weather. "So there won't be any professional (golf) for me.

Kurt Kitayama wins 3M Open as Seamus Power fades
Kurt Kitayama shot a six-under 65 and held on to win the 3M Open by one stroke for his second PGA Tour victory, as Seamus Power's challenge faded. The Waterford native had a mixed round with five birdies and four bogeys to shoot 70, his highest round of the week. It left him on 13 under par, 10 off Kitayama. One off the top after shooting 60 on Saturday, Kitayama managed 65, with eight birdies and just two bogeys, moving to 23 under. That was one clear of fellow American Sam Stevens, who shot a second consecutive 66 to finish in outright second place.
