Gerald Brisco Doesn't Understand The Hate Logan Paul Gets

Yahoo20-05-2025

Retired wrestler and backstage producer Gerald Brisco doesn't quite understand the hate that Logan Paul gets from the WWE Universe.
In a recent post on Twitter/X, Brisco quoted a fan criticizing Paul, who said that he is only with the company due to his influence outside of the ring. Brisco said even Paul's staunchest haters have to see that Paul does actually deliver in the ring, even if he may not be the character people want him to be.

'I really don't understand the hate for Logan,' said Brisco. 'To me, this kid has gone out and delivered in every high level contest he had. He might not have been the internet mark like all his haters, but even they can see he puts the work in.'
Paul's work in WWE has been under scrutiny since he officially joined the company in 2022. While he has always shown a talent for in-ring competition, fans believe he isn't deserving of the moments he gets. Most notably, his inclusion in WrestleMania 41 and upcoming bout against Jey Uso for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship drew ire from fans.
Logan Paul is set to challenge Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship at the next edition of Saturday Night's Main Event on May 24. Gunther also offered a warning to Paul when they shared the ring on this week's episode of RAW.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, R-Truth's contract was so high that for the level they were using him they felt it made no sense to renew it. This news surprised some. He had literally just come off a program that led to a high-profile match with WWE Champ John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event. Meltzer reported that the news of his exit was met with significant unhappiness within the WWE locker room. There were a lot of wrestlers who were very unhappy because he was so popular with the talent. WWE fans also voiced their support, with chants for R-Truth on the June 2nd episode of Raw after his departure became public. The situation was reportedly handled carefully backstage. Meltzer noted, "Talent was reportedly told no R-Truth T-shirts on Raw, but Rhea Ripley was wearing one backstage and took it off before going on TV." Meltzer stated that those in TNA have already said that they want to make him an offer, and for that company, he'll come in fairly hot. This would mark a significant homecoming for the star. Truth had a historic run in TNA from 2002 to 2007 between his WWE stints. Wrestling as Ron "The Truth" Killings, he became a main event player in TNA. In August 2002, he made history by defeating Ken Shamrock to become the first-ever recognized African-American NWA World Heavyweight Champion. It was a title he would go on to hold a second time. During his TNA tenure, he also showcased his charisma as a founding member of the popular 3Live Kru faction alongside Konnan and B.G. James (formerly Road Dogg in WWE). TNA is where he also held tag team gold. His time in TNA featured a more serious and aggressive persona compared to the comedic character he later perfected in his second, lengthy WWE run. It would also give him a chance to return to WWE if he so wanted to do so one day as TNA and WWE have a working relationship. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Superstar The Miz, a constant presence on Friday Night SmackDown in recent months, is reportedly set for a hiatus to film the reboot of the iconic competition series, "American Gladiators." According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this hosting role will take "The A-Lister" away from WWE television for a period. This reboot is set to feature a new lineup of elite athletes, including bodybuilders, former college athletes, and CrossFit winners, who will test their skills in classic games like "Gauntlet," "Hang Tough," and "The Eliminator," along with new challenges. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation This upcoming filming schedule provides context for recent on-screen friction between The Miz and his new tag team partner, Carmelo Hayes. After forming a partnership on SmackDown. Recent segments have seen Hayes even telling The A-Lister he doesn't need The Miz's help and can do things on his own. Over the years, he has built an impressive resume as a television personality, most notably starring in his own successful reality show, "Miz & Mrs." on the USA Network alongside his wife, Maryse. He also has hosting experience from shows like "Cannonball" and has made numerous appearances on other reality shows and talk shows, making him a natural fit for the charismatic host role required for American Gladiators. This new gig adds another significant credit to his entertainment career. This news also comes amidst recent fan speculation about The Miz's long-term WWE status, which was fueled by changes to his social media bio. While those changes remain unexplained, this television project provides a clear, non-contractual reason for his upcoming absence from WWE. With filming for American Gladiators set to get underway, it remains to be seen when The Miz will make his return to a WWE ring. Miz has literally done everything that there is to do in WWE and he appears to have years left in the role of doing anything WWE asks him to do.
