A photo that has gone viral on social media shows an emotional Karun Nair in tears, with star cricketer and childhood friend
KL Rahul
seen consoling him—capturing the raw emotion of a tough moment in the cricketer's journey.
Nair's return began on a disappointing note. In the opening Test at Headingley, he was dismissed for a duck in the first innings and made just 20 in the second. He was retained for the second Test, where he scored 31 and 26. In the third Test, he showed glimpses of form with a 40-run knock in the first innings, but could only manage 14 in the second.

With his place under scrutiny, India captain
Shubman Gill
made the call to leave him out for the fourth Test.
Three changes were made to the playing XI. Anshul Kamboj was handed a Test debut, while Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur were also included. Sudharsan replaced Karun, and Shardul came in for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was ruled out due to a left knee injury.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif criticised Gill for not backing Nair at a crucial juncture.
'Today was Shubman Gill's chance to back Karun who was down but deserved one more chance. He should have picked Karun Nair. Chance missed to earn the respect when it comes to making tough decisions as a leader,' Kaif posted on X.
England currently lead the five-match series 2-1, following their dramatic 22-run victory in the third Test at Lord's.

IND vs ENG 5th Test: Stuart Broad, Nasser Hussain push for England to make a bowling change at The Oval

England lead the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-1 going into the fifth Test at The Oval. (AP) Former England pacer Stuart Broad suggests resting Jofra Archer for the upcoming fifth Test against India at The Oval to manage his workload ahead of the Ashes series in Australia. Archer, who recently made his Test comeback after a four-year absence, has impressed with five wickets at Lord's and four more in Manchester. Archer marked his return to Test cricket at Lord's with a wicket on his third delivery and continued his form into the fourth Test at Manchester. "We can't not have Archer for four years, bring him back and then bowl him into the ground and not see him for another four years," Broad said on Sky Sports. England's pace attack has seen Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes featuring in all four matches, while Archer has played two consecutive Tests since his return. India managed to draw the fourth Test in Manchester through centuries from Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja, setting up a series decider at The Oval starting Thursday. England has several pace options available for the final Test, including Gus Atkinson, Sam Cook, Josh Tongue, and Jamie Overton. "I think Gus Atkinson has to play. I know he has not had any workload, but we need to see him. He hasn't been really challenged against top-level opposition in Test cricket yet," Broad said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas in Dubai | Search Ads Get Info Undo "Carse looked knackered in the fourth Test. He has been a trier and given absolutely everything, but looks like his legs have left him for this series, so Atkinson gets the nod. Tongue started the series, and I know he mainly got lower-order players out, but you probably have a natural replacement for Archer." Former England captain Nasser Hussain supported Broad's view regarding Archer's workload management. "I don't think you can have Archer playing three on the bounce coming back after four years," Hussain said. "Gus Atkinson coming back after a long time, and then Stokes with a niggle as three of your four seamers - but I would definitely play Atkinson on his home ground if fit," he added. The Ashes, to be played in Australia, is scheduled for November. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

The Indian Men's Cricket Team paid a visit to the Indian High Commission in London on Tuesday, a day after the gripping fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar series ended in a hard-fought draw. Head Coach Gautam Gambhir spoke at the event, reflecting on the historical significance of India-England encounters and the intensity of the ongoing series. 'Touring this part of the world has always been exciting and challenging because of the history between the two countries, which can never be forgotten,' Gambhir said. IND vs ENG: India coach Gautam Gambhir provides update on pacers' fitness and availability for series decider at The Oval

Jasprit Bumrah during day three of the Fourth Test vs England at Old Trafford (Photo by) Manchester: It's been over 50 days since the Indian team arrived here in England, and Jasprit Bumrah 's workload has been the focal point of India's planning ahead of each Test. As India's batters were pulling off a fighting draw at Old Trafford, Bumrah 's availability for the last Test — starting at Oval in London on Thursday — again became a point of discussion. At the start of the tour, head coach Gautam Gambhir had confirmed that the team management had planned to play Bumrah in only three of the five Tests. India go to London 1-2 down in the series, and Bumrah has already played his quota of three Tests. It's a tricky situation for both Bumrah and the team management. Will the team deviate from the three-Test plan regarding Bumrah's availability, since now there is a big opportunity to come out of the gruelling series with a 2-2 scoreline? Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'There has been no talk about it (Bumrah playing at the Oval). And no such decision has been made on whether Bumrah (will) play in the last Test. Ultimately, whoever plays, they'll try and do the job for the country,' Gambhir said after the fourth Test. Bumrah's susceptibility to breaking down in the middle of a Test has given the caretakers of Indian cricket sleepless nights. The Indian cricket board (BCCI) doesn't want a repeat of the incident in the Sydney Test at the beginning of the year. In Australia, the medical team working on Bumrah believed that his long and intense spell in the Test in Melbourne may have triggered the back injury in Sydney. TOI understands that Bumrah is now advised to bowl 45–50 overs maximum per Test. Bumrah bowled just 33 overs in the last Test in Manchester. This was after an eight-day break after the third Test at Lord's. TOI has learnt there have been murmurs in BCCI corridors around Bumrah's pick-and-choose policy in Test cricket. He was not given the Test captaincy only because he would not be available for every Test. The BCCI is not comfortable with the selectors and the team management going into a series without knowing if Bumrah will be available for the entire series. It is being considered whether he should make himself available for an entire series, or not at all. Sources said that when the fourth Test began with Bumrah in the XI, it was almost certain that he will give the Oval Test a miss. 'All the fast bowlers are there. There is no injury scare,' was Gambhir's curt reply to a query around the fitness of the pace attack. Gambhir asserted that he doesn't prefer the term 'transition' while discussing the Test team playing in England. He believes this team may be inexperienced, but it's the best team that India have. He doesn't like to hide behind the words 'transition' and 'inexperience'. 'You're asking someone who only believes in results. And I've always said that in the past as well, I believe in results. Yes, there is inexperience, but this is still the best Indian team right now. We're still down 1-2. Hopefully, we can try and make it 2-2. That's going to be a great achievement,' Gambhir said. Poll Is the decision to limit Bumrah's Tests to three justified? Yes, to manage his workload No, he should play all Tests It's a tough call It will be interesting to see if India risk Bumrah. His speed, after all, had come down significantly on the third evening of the third Test, where he returned figures of 2/112, his poorest show in his seven-year-long Test career. India's only win has come when Bumrah opted to sit out of the second Test at Edgbaston. It's not that the Indian bowling can't hold its own without him.
