Amid calling out Salman Khan for 'Sikandar' failure, AR Murugadoss says 'Offered my next film to Shah Rukh Khan but...'
Amid Salman Khan's Sikandar's commercial failure, the director of the film AR Murugadoss spoke about its failure in an interview with Valaipechu Voice and said, 'It's not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up to sets only by 8 PM. We are people who are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that's not how things work there.'

The director is already gearing up for his next film Sivakarthikeyan which releases in cinemas on September 5. He revealed in an interview with Galatta Plus, 'I didn't plan the whole film with Shah Rukh Khan, but I did pitch the character to him long back. I told him 7–8 years ago, and even he liked it.'
Murugadoss added, 'Back then, I only had the character… just an idea, not the full script. After watching the movie, you'll realise what I meant by character. At that time, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran arranged a meeting for me with Shah Rukh. He was so sweet and said we'll do the film. But the delay was very long, which is why it never materialised.'
On Sikandar failure
He added, 'If there were four kids in a scene, we would have to shoot with them at 2AM, even if it's the shot of them returning from school. They would become tired by that time and usually dozed off.'
Murugadoss continued, 'In the film, when the king loses his wife, her organs are donated to three different people. He then seeks them out, trying to fulfil the things he couldn't do for her. In the process, he befriends an entire village. The story was emotional, but I couldn't execute it well.'

But now, as per reports, it suffered a loss of Rs 91 crore due to piracy. A source told Bollywood Hungama, 'An audit was commissioned to assess the extent of the leak and the resulting impact on revenue. Ernst & Young (EnY) submitted a comprehensive report that pegged the loss at approximately Rs. 91 crore.'
