Dog survives being shot in the head; now recovering with animal care centers
A Good Samaritan and two animal care organizations are being credited with helping save a dog found shot in the head.

The dog, named Miss Scarlet, was rescued Monday by SPCA Cincinnati with the help of Care Center of Cincinnati and a Good Samaritan. Miss Scarlet was rescued alongside her eight puppies.
The dog, which was described as a stray, was shot by a neighbor after 'exhibiting threatening behavior,' Natalie Lotspeich, a neighbor who helped the dog said in a social media post.

SPCA Cincinnati posted a video on social media Monday showing the organization taking Miss Scarlet in for recovery. Miss Scarlet was described as 'the most loving dog' who is 'thankful to be alive and protected.'
Miss Scarlet will now rest and heal as SPCA Cincinnati and the Care Center of Cincinnati work together to help her and her puppies recover.'

Person rescued after reportedly falling off cliff while running from deputies, sergeant says
Authorities rescued a male who reportedly fell off a cliff while running from law enforcement in Clark County on Sunday, according to a Clark County Sheriff's Office sergeant. Bibb County deputy gets backup to help remove 12-foot alligator from business
Bibb County Sheriff's Office removed a large alligator from a business on Joe Tamplin Industrial Boulevard on Saturday. Animal Enforcement Officer Rebecca Galeazzo got to the scene to get a 12-foot alligator off of the business property. According to the sheriff's office, the alligator crawled up to the business overnight and was not happy to go. To tip the scales and get the beastie removed, Galeazzo had to call for backup, the sheriff's office said. After it 'put up a fight,' the alligator was eventually captured and released unharmed back into the wild. 2 Fulton County Jail inmates die in past week in unrelated incidents
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office announced two inmates had died in the past seven days. Fulton County detainee Shon Disola, 53, experienced a medical emergency while on free time in the evening of May 17. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The sheriff's office said Disola was taken to the hospital for treatment and was pronounced dead on May 25. According to the sheriff's office, Disola was arrested on Feb. 2, 2023 by the Atlanta Police Department and was being held without bond. Separately, Benjamin Pike, 55, was found unresponsive in his cell on May 27. The Atlanta Police Department is conducting a death investigation, the sheriff's office said. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct autopsies on both men to determine exact causes of death.
