Coolie Day 3 India Box Office Estimates: Rajinikanth crime-drama looks to do an excellent Rs 48 crore gross on 1st Saturday BUT...

Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and starring Rajinikanth had yet another excellent day at the India box office, grossing Rs 47-48 crore. These are excellent numbers but the trend is slightly worrisome. The movie opened to collections of Rs 75.50 crore, added Rs 63.50 crore on day 2 (Independence Day holiday) and is likely putting up Rs 47.50 crore on day 3, taking the 3 day cume to Rs 186.50 crore. Going by how it is doing, the Sunday collections are going to drop down to around Rs 40 crore, giving the movie a weekend of a little over Rs 225 crore. The Day Wise India Gross Collections Of Coolie Are As Under Day India Gross Collections 1 Rs 75.50 crore 2 Rs 63.50 crore 3 Rs 47.50 crore Total Rs 186.50 crore Coolie's Rs 47.50 Crore Day 3 Is Excellent But Given How It Started, The Numbers Should Have Been Closer To Rs 60 Crore If the Saturday numbers of Coolie are seen, not taking into consideration the fact that it opened to the numbers it did, they are excellent and not many Tamil movies have really been able to manage it. The collections for the Tamil version of Coolie are on a steep fall. It is the Hindi and Telugu version collections that are sustaining to a degree. After Sunday, it is likely that the drops will be significant even for the Hindi and Telugu version. Regardless, the movie has already punched above its weight for these two versions. The underperformance in the home market will end up being the most talked thing about this Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. If the trend is to be analysed, it will end up doing lower than what Ajith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly did in Tamil Nadu. Coolie Heads For A Rs 500 Crore Range Worldwide Finish Unless Something Surprising Happens Coolie heads for a near Rs 500 crore global finish, but even that is subject to how it holds. The global weekend of Coolie will be around Rs 375 crore and for it to add less than Rs 125 crore after that will not be seen well. All things said, Coolie will still be among the top 5 highest Kollywood grosser worldwide and that just proves how big Rajinikanth continues to be. He will have 3 films in the top 5 list and what's important to note is that it is with 3 different directors. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Coolie v/s War 2 : Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR still chase Rajinikanth's crime-actioner at the worldwide box office after 2 days

Coolie vs. War 2 is undoubtedly one of the biggest box office clashes in recent times. Despite minimal overlap in their target audiences, it is among the most high-profile clashes of our era. Initially, War 2 was expected to be the bigger opener and the higher grosser when both films began production. However, as pre-sales commenced, it became evident that Coolie would take the lead in the initial battle. Coolie Continues Leading War 2 On Day 2; Global Difference Between Both Movies Is Over Rs 80 Crore After 2 Days Coolie opened worldwide with collections of Rs 150.75 crore, while War 2 managed around Rs 79 crore. On the second day, War 2 narrowed the gap, but Coolie maintained its global lead, driven by a stronger overseas performance. Coolie collected Rs 92 crore, compared to War 2's Rs 79 crore. While War 2's second day collections in India surpassed Coolie's, it still chases the Rajinikanth starrer courtesy the latter's lead in international markets. Ultimately, the difference between Coolie and War 2 will hinge on overseas collections, as their India collections are expected to be nearly identical, with a slight chance of Coolie finishing ahead. War 2 And Coolie Will Be Viewed As Missed Opportunities Because... Both films are likely to be viewed as missed opportunities. However, Coolie's collections are projected to rank among the top five of all time for a Kollywood film, making it reasonable to consider it a superhit. Additionally, its production costs are not as high as perceived, with over 60 percent of the budget reportedly allocated to actor and director remuneration. War 2, on the other hand, is shaping up to be a loss-making venture, which is surprising given the significant non-theatrical revenue that typically offsets costs for producers. The losses faced by the Andhra distributor are best left unaddressed. War 2 Vs Coolie Clash Update Realistically, Coolie can be declared the winner of this clash, but its underperformance relative to expectations may disappoint Rajinikanth fans and Lokesh Kanagaraj enthusiasts. War 2, from a purely commercial perspective, will likely be remembered as a nightmare best forgotten. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Coolie vs War 2 Box Office Comparison: Hrithik Roshan and NTR film takes lead over Rajinikanth's movie on day 2 in India

Coolie and War 2 clashed at the box office on August 14. Together, the films achieved a combined opening day gross of approximately Rs 134.50 crore, with Coolie contributing the lion's share. Coolie grossed Rs 75.50 crore, compared to Rs 59 crore for War 2. Collectively, the two films delivered the Indian film industry its second-biggest box office day, surpassed only by the opening day of Pushpa 2. War 2 Registers Higher Collections Than War 2 On Independence Day Holiday In India On the second day, the Independence Day holiday, War 2 took the lead over Coolie. War 2 grossed Rs 67 crore, compared to Coolie's Rs 63.50 crore. The Hindi version of War 2 drove its performance, securing at least a moral victory over Coolie, if not more. The two day collections of War 2, stand at Rs 126 crore, as compared to Coolie's Rs 139 crore. Collections for both films have declined on Saturday, and expectations for Sunday remain modest. The race between the two films is tight, and it's uncertain which will come out on top. The film that leads on Saturday and Sunday is likely to end with higher total collections in India. The Difference Between War 2 And Coolie Will Be The Overseas Gross, As India Gross Is Expected To Be More Or Less, The Same The overseas collections of Coolie are expected to be the key differentiator. Coolie's opening day overseas collections are significantly higher than what War 2 is expected to do over the extended first weekend. Coolie's extended weekend collections are estimated to be USD 10 million higher than War 2's. A USD 10 million (Rs 87 crore) difference over the weekend and an expected Rs 100 crore difference in the lifetime is what is being assumed at this point. This only means that Coolie will be leading War 2 by a margin of Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office as well, in the full run. Coolie, Despite Its Underperformance, Remains In Contention To Be A Superhit Both movies have not performed as well as they should have. But it is undeniable that the Rajinikanth movie is still in contention to be a superhit, given its lesser costs and higher global gross. War 2 will end as a loss-making proposition for everyone involved. The combined global gross of both movies will likely fail to touch Rs 1000 crore. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
