Justice for homebuyers key, says PM Modi in ₹62,000 cr PRAGATI review

Faster grievance redressal, accountability in real estate
The Prime Minister emphasised the need for faster grievance redressal mechanisms and improved accountability in the real estate sector, noting that delays in housing projects not only cause financial hardship for buyers but also impact public welfare.
During the review, PM Modi called on implementing agencies to enhance efficiency, remove bottlenecks, and improve coordination to ensure the timely delivery of public infrastructure. He noted that project delays inflate costs and erode trust in governance.
Key infrastructure focus areas
Apart from real estate concerns, the meeting also reviewed progress on major infrastructure projects in sectors such as road transport, energy, and water resource management. These projects, spread across multiple states and union territories, collectively account for an investment of over ₹62,000 crore.
The Prime Minister also took stock of India's growing semiconductor ecosystem, discussing successful state-level initiatives and urging wider adoption of best practices to support the National Semiconductor Mission. He encouraged states to develop innovative models that contribute to India's goal of becoming self-reliant in chip manufacturing.

In the previous PRAGATI meeting in August 2024, PM Modi reviewed infrastructure projects worth over ₹76,500 crore across 11 states, focusing on road, rail, power, coal, and water resource sectors. He stressed the importance of timely implementation, noting that delays lead to cost escalations and deprive citizens of intended benefits. A core focus of that session was also on involving women's self-help groups and promoting youth skilling in the operation and maintenance of water projects.
The PRAGATI platform is an ICT-based initiative that enables direct interaction between the Prime Minister and top officials of the Centre and states. Since its inception, the forum has reviewed 373 projects with a cumulative investment of over ₹20.64 trillion, the Prime Minister's Office said.

AP climbs 3 places to rank 2nd in justice delivery
Amaravati: When it comes to delivering justice, Andhra Pradesh has jumped three places among 18 large and mid-sized states with a population of over one crore to occupy the second position, next only to Karnataka, according to the India Justice Report 2025. The state occupied fifth place in 2022. The IJR combines the latest official statistics from government sources with data from the four pillars of justice delivery—police, judiciary, prisons, and legal aid. Even in respect of the other four pillars, AP has done significantly; ranking second in police, fourth in the 'prisons' category, and fifth in judiciary and 'legal aid,' the report said. Reacting to the report, TDP national spokesperson Jyothsna Tirunagari said: "We are delighted with this dramatic turnaround in our ranking. We are committed to being No. 1 in the next ranking." Each pillar was analysed through indicators such as budgets, human resources, workload, diversity, infrastructure, and trends against the state's declared standards and benchmarks, the report added. According to IJR 2025, Andhra Pradesh spends the highest amount on inmates, at Rs 2.6 lakh annually per inmate, or Rs 733 daily, with a prison population of 7,200. The report noted that both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana do not record overcrowding in prisons, with no facility exceeding 250 per cent occupancy. Under legal aid, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments contribute over 80 per cent of their respective legal aid budgets, with 100 per cent fund utilisation reported in 2022-23. However, Andhra Pradesh reported 89 per cent utilisation of The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) funds, compared to Telangana's 61 per cent, the report said. On gender and caste representation, Andhra Pradesh has recorded over a 10 per cent shortfall in SC officers since 2016, while vacancies among ST constables rose from six per cent in 2019 to 11 per cent in 2022. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana reported over 50 per cent women's representation in district courts. Andhra Pradesh also boasts the highest ratio of women in the police force nationally, at 22 per cent. The state logged a 21 per cent vacancy rate among constables and 10 per cent among officers in the police department. The IJR highlighted that, at 12 per cent as of 2025, Andhra Pradesh has one of the lowest vacancy rates for district judges. However, High Court judge vacancies have increased to 19 per cent since 2022. Reflecting on the report, retired Justice Madan B Lokur said, "The fourth edition of the India Justice Report points out that improvements remain few and far between in the absence of adequate attention to resources. Alas, the burden continues to remain on the individual seeking justice, not the state to provide it." Initiated by Tata Trusts and first published in 2019, the IJR is a collaboration among the Centre for Social Justice, Common Cause, the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, and others. Based on 24 months of quantitative research, the 2025 edition tracks the performance of states in strengthening justice delivery systems and their capacity to provide mandated services effectively. "As India moves forward into a hundred years as a democratic, rule-of-law nation, the promise of rule of law and equal rights will remain hollow unless underwritten by a reformed justice system," said Maja Daruwala, chief editor of IJR. The report reiterated the need for immediate and foundational reforms, highlighting urgent vacancy fillings and increased representation. To ensure irreversible change, it emphasised that justice delivery should be designated an essential service.

PM Modi has given a new generation of trains, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday toured the Vande Bharat Express to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. Preparations are also underway at the KSR Railway Station ahead of the PM's visit, as he will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru. Speaking to ANI, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "It's a matter of great happiness that a long-pending demand for Vande Bharat between Belagavi and Bengaluru will be flagged off by PM Modi tomorrow. This will provide very good connectivity to North Karnataka and Bengaluru, which is the IT capital of the country. Two more trains will be flagged off. One which connects Katra Vaishno Devi to Amritsar. Again, this is very important train because there is lot of movement between pilgrims who come from one place to the other. Third is between Nagpur and Pune. These two are very large industrial and technological hubs, and there is a lot of demand for movement between Pune and Nagpur." Vaishnaw praised PM Modi for launching many Amrit Bharat Express trains. He said, "In recent times, PM Modi has launched many Amrit Bharat trains. Amrit Bharat Express trains are trains which are providing a very good affordable service to the people with low income and lower middle income families. Almost all the features of Vande Bharat trains are there in the Amrit Bharat express trains and the fare is very very low. This is proving to be a very big success for a people to go for in search for livelihood to distant cities." While praising Namo Bharat trains, he said, "Namo Bharat train has also become very successful, both the trains running are highly appreciated by passengers. Now we are taking large-scale production of Namo Bharat, Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains." Vaishnaw also added that the Vande Bharat Sleeper will probably be launched by September. He said, "The Vande Bharat sleeper is also about to be launched. Probably by September, we should get the Vande Bharat sleeper also ready. So in a way, PM Modi has given us a totally new generation of railway trains." PM Modi will visit Karnataka on Sunday (August 10) and will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several developmental projects in the state. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru at around 11 am. Thereafter, he will flag off the Yellow line of Bangalore metro and undertake a metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City metro station. At around 1 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of urban connectivity projects in Bengaluru. He will also address a public function. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra of the Bangalore Metro Phase-2 project, having a route length of over 19 km with 16 stations worth around Rs 7,160 crore. With the opening of this yellow line, the operational metro network in Bengaluru will increase to over 96 km, serving a large population in the region. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project worth over Rs 15,610 crore. The total route length of the project will be more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations. This infrastructure project will address the growing transportation needs of the city, catering to residential, industrial, commercial and educational areas. PM Modi will also flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru. It includes trains from Bengaluru to Belagavi, Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune. These high-speed trains will significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time and provide a world-class travel experience to the passengers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the long-awaited Yellow Line of Namma Metro today, marking a major step forward for Bengaluru's public transport. The 19.15 km line runs from RV Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the east, with 16 elevated stations, and has cost about ₹ 5,057 crore to build. The launch is set to boost connectivity to key areas such as Electronic City, Silk Board, and BTM Layout, easing travel to major tech and industrial hubs. It is also expected to ease heavy traffic at well-known choke points, particularly the Silk Board junction. Commercial services are due to begin on Monday. At first, three driverless trains will operate every 25 minutes, with the frequency likely to improve to 20 minutes as more trains join the fleet later this month. The metro will run daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM and could serve up to 800,000 passengers each day. Fares will remain affordable, with one-way tickets ranging from ₹ 10 to ₹ 90, in line with the usual Bengaluru Metro pricing.
