Scheierman's Celtics teammates weren't letting his big game pass without a celebration

Yahoo19-03-2025

Baylor Scheierman's Boston Celtics teammates were not going to let his big game pass without a celebration. The Creighton alum had himself a career night against the Brooklyn Nets on this past Tuesday (March 18) night at TD Garden, putting up an impressive 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals on 7-of-8 shooting (including the Nebraska native hitting 6-of-7 shots from beyond the arc) overall.
In Scheierman's first-ever walk-off interview with the legendary Jackie MacMullan, the Celtics rookie shooting guard got the traditional mid-interview shower of water in appreciation for his breakout performance against the Nets that night when his number was called for Boston.
The folks behind the "NBC Sports Boston" YouTube channel put together a clip catching it on video for us to watch later. Check it out below!

Celtics GM Sends Clear Message After Cooper Flagg News

Former Duke star Cooper Flagg is unanimously considered to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft next month. The team that won the lottery turned out to be the Dallas Mavericks. Pending any trades, they will pick him. However, that won't stop teams from talking to him before he gets drafted. Even if the odds aren't high that the Mavericks will pass on Flagg, every NBA team can talk to him before Draft Night. Advertisement That includes the Boston Celtics. On Friday, it was reported that the Celtics chatted with Flagg ahead of the draft, despite being well out of the lottery (via Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor). Former Duke Blue Devils forward Cooper Flagg (2)Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images The Celtics have no chance of drafting Flagg pending any surprise trades in the coming weeks, but that didn't stop them from conversing with him. During his end of season press conference, Celtics' President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens briefly addressed the news of his team meeting with Flagg. "The people we know we can't get in to work out are the people we talk to at the combine, or else we might never talk to them," he said. Flagg is a Maine native who grew up rooting for the Celtics and went on public record saying Jayson Tatum is his favorite NBA player. His ties to New England, on top of his talent, would make him appealing for the Celtics to chat with. Advertisement Even if the Celtics won't draft him this June, that doesn't rule out that he could join the team a few years down the line, whether via trade or free agency. Some NBA stars in the past have gone back home to play for their hometown teams, like Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard. Celtics-Mavericks Trade Report Surfaces After Cooper Flagg News

Celtics-Mavericks Trade Report Surfaces After Cooper Flagg News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Celtics recently made headlines when it was reported by Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports that Duke star Cooper Flagg had a pre-draft interview with them. Widely projected to go No. 1 overall to the Dallas Mavericks, Flagg is not expected to be available when Boston picks at No. 28 in the 2025 NBA Draft. Advertisement Because of this, fans began speculating the Celtics could be eyeing a potential blockbuster trade with Dallas for the No. 1 overall pick. Shutting down this speculation last month, Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens confirmed the team met with Flagg, but said trading up for him is not possible (via Zack Cox of Boston Herald). NBA Draft prospect Cooper FlaggDavid Banks-Imagn Images Just weeks after this news that Boston did indeed meet with Flagg, but will not be swinging a deal for him, a new Celtics-Mavericks trade report has surfaced. According to Jay King of The Athletic, Boston and Dallas could very well be trade partners this summer, just not for Flagg. "The Mavericks could make sense as a trade partner for Boston (more on that soon), but not for the top pick," King wrote on Thursday. Advertisement As far as the type of deal these two teams could make, King highlighted All-Defensive guard Jrue Holiday. "With Flagg set to join Anthony Davis in a deep frontcourt, the Mavericks have a chance to field a special defense," he wrote. "Adding Holiday would only turn that group into more of a problem for opponents. Good luck scoring on him with Davis and Flagg behind him." King added, "Making the trade partner an even more logical fit, the Mavericks have a surplus in the frontcourt with Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively and P.J. Washington competing for minutes, plus some young players such as Max Christie who could appeal to Boston."
