Sarah Jessica Parker avoids talking about politics online

Sarah Jessica Parker tries to avoid talking about politics on social media.
The Sex and The City star has admitted she doesn't want to use her platform to address complex issues because social media sites are not "a place that's deserving of any real complicated conversation" and she worries anything she divulges could be "misunderstood".
During an appearance on The Best People podcast, she explained: "I often don't talk on social media because I don't think it's a place that's deserving of any real complicated conversation.
"I'm not interested in quick little snippets when it's dealing with conflict or even elections sometimes.
"I really was so thoughtful about how I wanted to talk about the [2024 US] election because I think it turns into a distraction from a campaign. It turns into fodder. It's misunderstood. You have no control over it."
Sarah Jessica added: "FDR [Franklin D. Roosevelt] was elected without social media [in 1932] ... Many things happened, right and left, Republicans and Democrats for many, many, many, many years - many generations were elected without someone having to say something on Instagram."
However, the actress is adamant she doesn't want to be drawn into a conversation about complex issues online, adding: "I'm not going to talk about stuff that I don't feel educated on.
"I'm not going to jump in on really complex areas that I feel are deserving of far more thought, consideration, nuance - which I know no one's interested in.
"And I just feel like I want to be helpful. I don't want to hurt something that matters to me."
Sarah Jessica previously shared her opinion on the 2024 election back in October when she posted a picture of herself holding a sign supporting the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz campaign for the Democrats. The pair lost out on the presidency at the US election in November to Republican candidate Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance.
In the Instagram caption, she wrote: "For the love of my country, for our public schools, for books, for common sense gun laws, for a living wage, for opportunity, for women, for voting rights, the the Dreamers, for arts and culture, for my mother and senior citizens ...
"And for a certain childless cat lady I play on TV. With an abundance of joy, optimism and pride I am voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz ."

Sarah Jessica Parker breaks ‘devastating' news for fans of iconic character and Sex And The City reboot

Sarah Jessica Parker is saying goodbye to her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw. After the show's co-creator Michael Patrick King announced that And Just Like That wouldn't be returning for a fourth season, Parker took to Instagram to share a clip montage of her playing Bradshaw over the years along with a heartfelt poem to mark the end of the Sex And The City franchise. 'She has made the hardest, worst and best decisions. Travelled near and far for the new, the vintage, friends and love. Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City,' Parker wrote, referencing the character she's portrayed for over two decades on HBO's Sex And The City, And Just Like That and in two feature films. After noting her Carrie has 'hailed cabs', 'ran in heels', 'danced with Stanford' (played by late actor Willie Garson) and more, she then shouted out her Sex And The City co-stars Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Kim Cattrall (Samantha), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), followed by Sarita Choudhury (Seema) and Nicole Ari Parker (LTW), who both starred on And Just Like That. 'Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends and what great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema and LTW, most divine new connections,' she shared. Parker also shared what her legendary character has meant to her over the years. 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all,' she continued. 'I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion.' Parker than began to conclude her message by saying that her and King 'recognised, as we have in the past, this chapter complete'. ''AJLT' was all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us. I am better for every single day I spent with you. It will be forever before I forget the whole thing,' she wrote, before adding a 'Thank you' to fans. 'I love you so. I hope you love these final two episodes as much as we all do,' she added. Fans were quick to flood the Hocus Pocus 2 star's post with supportive comments. 'This is so devastating and liberating at the same time,' one fan noted. Another added, 'I will love these characters forever. THANK YOU SJP' Meanwhile, Parker's co-star Davis also responded to the post, writing, 'Beautiful'. She later shared her own reaction to the ending of the series on Instagram, writing she was 'profoundly sad' about the news. 'I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever.' she said. King announced that AJLT will be ending with a statement that was shared on the show's social media accounts on Friday. He noted that the series will conclude at the end of Season 3 with a two-part finale. 'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season,' he wrote. 'It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.'

‘Rigged': The jobs numbers came in and they were bad. Trump fired the stats boss

Washington: US President Donald Trump ordered the dismissal of the country's labour statistics commissioner following a shock employment report which he alleged, without evidence, was 'rigged' for political purposes. The Bureau of Labour Statistics found only 73,000 jobs were created in the world's biggest economy in July, well below market expectations, and significantly revised down the figures for May and June. 'Larger than normal' revisions concluded only 19,000 jobs were created in May, not 144,000, and only 14,000 jobs were created in June, not 147,000. In total, the numbers were revised down by 258,000 over two months. Trump – who spent much of the week saying the US was 'the hottest country in the world' after gross domestic product figures showed the economy rebounded to grow 3 per cent in the June quarter – immediately went on the attack and ordered the sacking of the commissioner, Erika McEntarfer. 'I was just informed that our country's 'Jobs Numbers' are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer … who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala's chances of Victory,' Trump claimed on TruthSocial, citing previous corrections from 2024 when Biden was president. 'We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can't be manipulated for political purposes.' Trump added that in his opinion, the figures were 'rigged' to make Republicans, himself included, look bad. Despite the Labour Department trumpeting the July jobs growth figure earlier in the day, Labour Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer promptly confirmed McEntarfer had been terminated following Trump's orders, with the deputy commissioner now serving in an acting capacity.

Hulk Hogan didn't meet his grandchildren prior to his death

Hulk Hogan never met his grandchildren before his death. The wrestling legend passed away aged 71 last month after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida and his son-in-law Steven Oleksy has revealed that Hulk showed "no interest" in meeting his estranged daughter Brooke's twins Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene when approached following their births in January. Former NHL player Oleksy told People: "I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest." Oleksy explained how he and Brooke moved from Michigan to Florida to be closer to Hulk - whose real name was Terry Bollea - as he "was getting older" and suffering with his health. He said: "She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. "No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife." Oleksy explained that the family will remain in Florida following the WWE icon's passing as the state has grown to feel like "home" for them. The ex-ice hockey star said: "We've built a beautiful life here together." Brooke, 37, posted a lengthy tribute to her father on Instagram earlier this week and used her post to "clear a few things up" regarding the pair's estrangement. The realty star wrote: "It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support. I begged him to rest, to take care of himself." Brooke - Hulk's eldest child from his marriage to first wife Linda Hogan - added: "We had been through almost 25 surgeries together, and then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries…everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through. (sic)" She explained how the pair's relationship ultimately collapsed due to a series of "respectful disagreements". Brooke said: "He was telling me these things, being so vulnerable with me and heard my pleas, then suddenly something shifted, and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit. I felt a disconnect. What followed were respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on me."
